The Wavecrest is an Emblem Heartless that is found in Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days. It is a boss fought at the island in Neverland.

Story

Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days

On Roxas’s first mission to Neverland, he is sent to eliminate a Wavecrest. The Wavecrest is hiding in one of the several boxes in the area. Once it is found and destroyed, Roxas is able to RTC.

Physical Appearance

A Wavecrest is a large, draconian creature with predominantly light blue and dark blue skin, save for its belly, which is light grey. Its body is rather thin, while its feet are quite large, dark blue, and somewhat resemble clogs with tips that curve upward. Its wings seem rather short and have a rough, jagged appearance.

They also seem to be segmented, each segment alternating from light to dark blue. The Wavecrest's tail is long, wide, flat, and sports a few short spikes on its sides, as well as a pale yellow, zig-zagging stripe near its tip. Its forehead sports a large horn with yellow highlights that curves upward slightly. It has beady yellow eyes on either side of its head, and its Heartless emblem is on its chest.

Strategy

The Wavecrest cannot be brought to the ground, so the entire battle must be fought in midair. Lock-on to its tail and execute melee combos until the Wavecrest pulls back, which signifies that the Heartless is about to attack. Fly away before it flips or dives to avoid taking a large amount of damage. Its attacks can also damage-drain you, taking your HP and adding it to the Wavecrest's own. The Heartless is extremely resilient to all types of magic, so don't cast spells. By equipping yourself with a Keyblade with extensive aerial combos, such as the Nimble Gear, the Wavecrest should fall in no time.

Origin

The Wavecrest's name refers to sea waves—specifically the crest or maximum height of one—which in turn references its water-based attacks.
