This is the walkthrough for The World That Never Was as featured in Kingdom Hearts II, as well as its Final Mix version. Sora, Donald, Goofy, and King Mickey finally managed to reach Organization XIII's and the Nobodies' own world, and proceed to look for a way to the Castle That Never Was.
Completing the world by defeating the final boss also grants you the silver and gold trophies and achievements Ambitious Adventurer, Proud Player, and Critical Competitor in the 2.5 ReMIX version.
Walkthrough[]
Exit the Alley to Between and make your way through the streets, only needing to contend with Shadows. When you reach an open plaza you will witness a cutscene, and, if you are playing the Final Mix version, have to fight Roxas alone.
Roxas bossfight[]

The Roxas bossfight.
Roxas is strong, and will open almost instantly with a wide-range melee attack, although you can pre-empt it by immediately attacking, or blocking it with Guard or Reflega. Roxas relies on melee attacks, including one that is aerial, and rapid movement to get in close. He also has a near-unavoidable cinematic attack that is akin to the Samurai's Duel Stance, and lets you take his Keyblade if you succeed. This subsequently lets you deal a lot of damage to him, until he manages to retake it.
After losing 25% of his HP he will send lasers towards you, which can be avoided by running in a circle around him. He will use it again after losing 60% HP, and randomly thereafter. All of his attacks will also gain additional vertical beams once he loses a quarter of his health, which further increases the necessity of relying on Reflega to avoid taking damage. All of Roxas' attacks can be blocked, but this requires a high level of skill and timing.
He is resistant to magic, and highly prone to countering your finishers, making using them less worthwhile than usual (despite the greater damage dealt). Regardless, the damage potential of finishers in combination with Decisive Pumpkin makes them very strong. The simplest way to defeating him is Limit Form, with a Limit of your choice; attack him to deal damage and heal yourself, while relying on MP-restorative abilities and items to recover and continue until he goes down.
After his defeat you gain Combo Master and the Two Become One Keyblade, which makes it easier for you to enter Anti-Form, or your newly-acquired Final Form (which you gain after the cutscene in the original version). Equip it, and keep entering Drive Forms until you enter Final Form, which unlocks it permanently. Final Form is highly powerful, essentially superseding all others, but requires two party members and a minimum Drive Gauge of five. It also levels only by defeating Nobodies, which is best done at the Mysterious Tower, which lets you learn Glide.
Proceed onwards to the Castle, then enter it after another cutscene. Once inside you will start to encounter Sorcerers; powerful Nobodies that use floating cubes to form a shield or barrage you with separate attacks. Reflect can be effective when attacked, although it is also possible to rush and take them down quickly with a series of combos. Continue onwards, until you enter another large chamber where you must fight another boss after several cutscenes.
Xigbar bossfight[]

The Xigbar bossfight.
Note that Decisive Pumpkin is not very useful for this fight, as Xigbar is only ever in the air, hence Hero's Crest is recommended. He always opens with a first-person view from his perspective, while out of reach from Sora. He will take frequent well-aimed burst shots, with one unmissable hit once his reticule turns golden. Use the Break reaction to block this attack, followed by several Warp Snipes to knock him down from his perch.
Once knocked down the real fight begins; Xigbar will act much like his Sniper Nobodies and only ever stand in mid-air while upside-down, from where he will use ranged attacks and frequently teleport around. The laser arrows are somewhat predictable and can be easily blocked and returned with Reflega, which is recommended while you wait for him to reload; at which point he is vulnerable. He will also sometimes change the arena's layout, which just limits your movement and forces you to take longer to reach him.
After losing half of his health he will start to fire a large blue laser bolt that bounces around the arena. When up close you can use Warp Snipe to sent it back to him, although the window to do so is small. He will also begin to use more dangerous attack patterns. When close to defeat he will start to use his ultimate attack wherein he sends everyone to a small square, before firing a long continuous barrage of attacks. You can somewhat avoid these with Aerial Dodge, and a series of Reflect casts, although Once More is more likely to save your life at this point. If possible switch to Final Form to finish him off quickly before he can do this, if not, use it to finish him off after.
In the original version you will earn Magnega (Kingdom Hearts II) at this point. After Xigbar you need to head onwards, until you reunite with Kairi and Riku, granting you the Oblivion (Kingdom Hearts II) Keyblade as well, after which you reach another Save Point in Proof of Existence. Enter the only accessible blue doorway for the next bossfight.
Luxord bossfight[]

The Luxord bossfight.
Luxord has to be fought alone, with a unique timer mechanic that replaces only his health bar. Both of your bars decrease by 5 every second, except during a 'game', and each start with a value of 1,500. If Sora is hit his timer decreases by 2 points, or 10% if hit by a bomb card. Luxord's bar lowers equally to the damage he takes. He always opens the fight by turning you into a dice, which only lets you hop around, which can to be used to hit him and subsequently lower your form duration.
Once you are in control again it is time to attack Luxord directly, which is rather easy as he relies on weak attacks with over-sized cards, and only leaps away now and then. He usually has two cards surrounding him, which can be destroyed for MP orbs, or hit with the Flip command for a specific effect if the card has a symbol (positive if a black clock, negative if red). You will also gain the reaction command Begin Game now and then, which starts one akin to that of the Gamblers; if you select the O on time you gain HP prizes, if you lose you are turned into a card, which acts similar to the dice form. If you need HP it is recommended to use a Hi-Potion, rather than risk being turned into a card.
He will also start to initiate 'games' of his own once he loses around 25 to 30% of his time. He will summon a series of cards, and vanish, forcing you to find him amidst the summoned cards; this requires you to rotate the camera to see the back of the cards, from where you can locate and target him again. Either attack him, or use Flip to dispel the rest. He will use this move three times in a row, summoning three, five, and finally nine cards. Watch out for the aforementioned bomb cards, as they deal a lot of damage. Afterwards, he will become more dangerous with his normal attacks, and have more cards summoned at once.
At 25% health remaining he will his strongest attack and place cards all over the arena and start teleporting through them, attacking with both close and medium range cards. He cannot be damaged during this, so it is easiest to use Aerial Dodge and Glide to get away from him. Eventually he will wall you in for his final game; you must wait until all commands are Os, and then select any of them to counter him and deplete his remaining time. If you fail he turns you into a dice instead, forcing you to finish him normally.
Upon his defeat you gain Magnega, provided you are playing the Final Mix version. Return to the previous room and enter the newly-opened doorway for the next bossfight.
Saïx bossfight[]

The Saïx bossfight.
Saïx always opens his fight in a berserk state, which makes him incredibly dangerous. He is almost impossible to damage, moves very fast, has several far-reaching attacks, and causes shockwaves with them as well. Most of them will cause him to leave a weapon behind, including his opening combo, which can be picked up much like the Berserkers' weapons. Pick it up with the Berserk command, ride it around for a second (its speed lets you easily avoid Saïx), then get close to him and activate the Eclipse and Magna Storm reactions to force him out of his berserk state.
Now weakened, Saïx will be much slower, although he can still use his melee attacks. If possible Guard or Reflect them, but it is not too hard to drastically lower his health to 50% before he has recharged his berserk gauge. Repeat the initial actions; using Aerial Dodge and Glide to avoid him until you can grab one of his weapons and use it on him when he is not in the middle of a combo. At this point it is recommended to quickly finish him off with Final Form, or Limit Form if Donald and Goofy are unconscious, before he can fully charge his berserk gauge again, as he will be almost impossible to avoid during his berserk state while at low health.
Return to the Proof of Existence room, then continue through the now-open doorway at the end for a cutscene, after which Riku joins your party. Riku can be called on to use the Dark Shield and Dark Aura attacks with reaction commands, although these are not very useful. Continue ascending the castle, with only a few more Nobodies standing in your way, until you reach the Altar of Naught at the top for your next bossfight.
Xemnas bossfight[]

The first Xemnas bossfight.
Xemnas has to be fought alone, and will always open by summoning a health-draining field of energy, while vanishing to the top of the central skyscraper. Follow him with the Facedown command, and then do not use Clash, as this lets him evade you. Attempt to use the Breakthrough or Finish commands to actually deal damage, as doing nothing will let him damage you instead. Once on the ground again he will use two different melee combo attacks, combined with summoning a large temporary barrier, and frequent teleports around the field. The melee attacks can be blocked with Guard or Reflect, and subsequently countered, whereas the barrier can be circumvented or you can wait till it vanishes.
At less than 50% HP Xemnas will act more aggressively, but will not resort to any truly overwhelming attacks. He will eventually use his opening move again at least once more as well. If necessary, resort to Limit Form to finish him off. Once defeated you can save again, and then proceed through the newly-appeared door to the final boss.
Know that in the original version this is the point of no return, and is when you should leave the world to do anything that remains, in particular you can now access the Goddess of Fate Cup in the Underworld for example. In the Final Mix version you can save after completing the game, and then load that to appear in the same location but with the added bonusses of defeating the final boss.
Xemnas, Armored Controller form bossfight[]

Xemnas' Armored Controller form bossfight.
Use the Slicer reaction to cut through the encroaching buildings, then move to the next area and use Escablade and Sky Scraper to cut through the incoming structures. Sora will automatically jump onto the giant floating structure, where you must damage the two cylinder's cores by hitting the Bomb Bell enemies. These are very weak and will be send into the core with a single hit, so simply cast Magnega to do most of the work for you. Use Stunt Dodge to escape if you take too long and the core retaliates, or if you succeed and the core explodes.
After destroying both you have to face the Energy Core, which is another structural element of the building. After dealing enough damage it will become invulnerable and summon groups of Nobodies, which should not pose much of a threat at this point. Defeat them, then damage it again until it summons more, at which point the structure will also retaliate by thrusting its claws into the ground in front of the core. Destroy it, after which you finally confront Xemnas in his Armored Controller form.
Xemnas is conveniently immobile, although he will attack with his sword and summon barriers to block you. He can also summon attacks belonging to several Organization members, although these are not too problematic, even if he uses them more often the lower his health gets. This is the last point at which you can still use Drive Forms, even if he is easily defeated without.
Xemnas, Dragon form bossfight[]

Xemnas' dragon form bossfight.
After the subsequent cutscenes you have to fight the dragon form of the building in mid-flight on-top of a vehicle, similar to the gummi ship's gameplay. Focus on attacking the Bomb Bells, while using Drain to absorb the energy from the Speeder and Spiked Roller's lasers, rather than retaliating with your own lasers. When fully charged, use Megalaser when the dragon's tail is close to you, rather than when it is away and sweeping around. Megalaser will first target directly ahead, and then split sideways, dealing immense damage but only if the target is in the laser's path.
Xemnas will retaliate with quick temporary laser beams that have to be avoided, which is easily done by flying in a circle, after which you must target the dragon's cylinders. The incoming enemies will become more hectic with each destroyed component, and the dragon will also retaliate with swarms of missiles aside from the lasers, both of which can still be dodged by careful maneuvering. After destroying the wings it forcefully lands, leading you to fight against the second phase of the Armored Controller form alongside Riku.
During this phase Sora can jump and glide forever, regardless of his Forms' levels. Xemnas himself is fought in the same way as before, although he has less attacks. After taking 20%, 50%, and 70% damage he will blow you away and start throwing buildings, while blocking you from returning. Land or get close to one of the floating buildings that are not moving and use Riding Shot and Meteor Rain to remove its shield, allowing you get close again. Note that the shield is removed on its own after two minutes the first two times as well. When you get closer to Xemnas the blue lasers will appear again, and they are best avoided by repeatedly jumping.
The lasers will also appear straightaway during the second and third times, at which point he will also attack from afar with small red lasers, which are best avoided by staying on the move. Return to Xemnas and watch out for the blue lasers to appear above him, attacking the area in front in a sweep. Keep attacking him, as he is otherwise the same as before, until you defeat him, triggering another cutscene.
Xemnas, final form bossfight[]

Xemnas' final form bossfight.
This is Xemnas' final phase, which he always opens with an onslaught of thorn attacks. Much like Twilight Thorn, use repeated Reversals to dodge them, until they stop coming and you can finally land. Xemnas will frequently teleport around, attacking with the ranged beams of thorns, melee combo attacks, and orbs that explode into larger spheres. He will also clone himself, forcing you to guess which is the right one. This can be somewhat difficult however, as Xemnas is very fast and prone to continuously attacking you, so being aggressive in return is a valid option, especially with the strength of Limit Form. Riku will also serve as reliable support with his frequent Healing Potions.
After Xemnas loses 50% of his HP he will teleport around you and spawn static lasers, that then move in all at once. Time Reflect or Guard properly, preferably reserving your MP for when Xemnas and his clone appear at the same time to attack at the same time. There will be little to no time to counter him, except when he does not stays in one place for a prolonged assault. Eventually he will move in to grab Sora directly, giving you control over Riku instead.
As Riku you can only jump, attack, and use Dark Aura. Xemnas clone will attempt to intercept you, and use barriers to block your melee attacks. Focus on moving towards Sora, stopping every few steps to use Dark Aura to stagger the clone, until you are close enough to Sora to use Rescue and free him. From here Xemnas will use the same attacks at the start, up until his HP has been reduced to a mere 10%, at which point he uses his strongest attack. Conveniently, you and Riku can survive entirely unscathed by only mashing the Reflect commands. Xemnas will then be nearly defeated in a cinematic, after which you only need to hit him once more with a finisher, spell, or Limit to banish him for good.
After his defeat, and the subsequent cutscenes and credits, depending on the difficulty and your total accomplishments, you will also unlock a bonus video; The Gathering. Final Mix also offers the video of Birth by sleep. After the credits the game displays an ending screen with some combat-related statistics. You will be able to save in the Final Mix version of the game. Do so, then load it to return at Altar of Naught with the bonuses from defeating Xemnas' final form. If you are instead playing the normal version, simply load your last save and continue from there.
In both versions there are some things left to do: completely filling out Jiminy's Journal, completing all minigames and missions, leveling all Drive Forms to max, finding all treasure chests, finishing the Goddess of Fate Cup and subsequent Paradox Cups afterwards, leveling the Moogle Shop's level and crafting all items through Synthesis (Kingdom Hearts II), as well as defeating Sephiroth.
Final Mix will have several new things to do: finding all puzzle pieces and completing each puzzle, defeating all of the Absent Silhouettes, finding and defeating all Mushroom XIII members with a full score, clearing the Cavern of Remembrance, crafting the new Synthesis items, and finally winning all Organization XIII Replica Data fights and defeating the final superboss Lingering Will.
