Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days

This magic-resistant knight Heartless's skillful defense makes it tough to finish off. Though its focused slash can be stopped with a block, blasting the knight with Aeroga while it is storing up energy will stagger it, opening it up to extra damage, especially from magic.

The Stalwart Blade is an Emblem Heartless that can be found exclusively as a boss in Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days.

Story

Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days

Roxas is assigned to eliminate the Heartless in the Games being held at the Olympus Coliseum. In these games Roxas must defeat five rounds of Heartless. The Stalwart Blade is the only Heartless fought in the fifth and final round. After defeating the Heartless Roxas is able to RTC.

The Stalwart Blade is also one of the six Heartless Roxas must destroy in Mission 89 at Twilight Town. The Stalwart Blade is fought at the Station Plaza. After the Heartless has been eliminated, Roxas is able to continue to his next target.

Physical Appearance

A Stalwart Blade is a large, humanoid Heartless covered from head to toe in faded red and white armor. The armor on its legs sport white spikes and steel blue highlights. A red streak runs through each side of its thigh armor. Its helmet sports two short, white spikes and a long, twisted, black antenna. A small opening in the front just barely exposes the Stalwart Blade's black face and glowing yellow eyes. Its most notable features are the orange, interweaving blades in place of each of its hands. It has two Heartless emblems, one on each of its shoulder pauldrons.

Strategy

Attacks
  • The Stalwart Blade leaps high in the air, and causes a strong shockwave when it lands on the ground, that can be avoided by using Air Slide.
  • The Stalwart Blade charges up, then lunges at the player. That attack can be blocked, stunning the Heartless in the process.
  • The Stalwart Blade casts Aero, which has a 100% chance of air-tossing the player, if the magic hits.
  • The Stalwart Blade lunges at the player. Unlike the other attack, the Stalwart Blade will not charge while doing this attack, and blocking it will not stun it.

Right as the battle starts, the Stalwart Blade will leap into the air. Air Slide out from under its shadow to avoid being hit by the shockwave it releases when it lands, and then counter with a combo. Block its charged attack to stun it, and inflict severe damage while it's vulnerable with several combos. It can cast Aero, which, if it hits, has a 100% chance of air-tossing the player.

It recovers all too quickly, so be ready to jump or dodge roll away. Hit it with Aero spells while its charging to stun it for longer periods of time.

Origin

The Stalwart Blade's name reflects its resistance to magic and its skill with defense, as "stalwart" means "firmly built". It also references the blades on the Heartless's arms. Its Japanese name, "Strength Blade", references its great power.
