Shops in Kingdom Hearts and its Final Mix version are locations or people where the player character, Sora, can purchase items, weapons, accessories, gummi blocks, and system upgrades for the gummi garage. Purchases cost munny, with the exception of the Item Workshop, in itself not exactly a store but a place where you can use materials to synthesize items. All shops, with the exception of the one in Agrabah, are found in Traverse Town's First District. All shops' stock also depends on your own progress throughout the game, with expansions after the completion of Agrabah and again after rescuing Kairi.

Final Mix made several changes to all stores, mainly by increasing the prices, as well as including a few new items.

The Item Shop is run by Donald's nephews, Huey, Dewey, and Louie, out of a store between the cafe and Accessory Shop in the First District. At first it will only have a few restorative items available for Sora, but after Donald and Goofy join his party (after the defeat of Guard Armor) they also offer weapons for them. They offer increasingly stronger items over time, but will be easily outclassed by anything you can acquire on your own. In Final Mix they are also the only place where you can repeatedly acquire the rare synthesis material Orichalcum.

The Accessory Shop can be found in the first floor of the central structure in the First District. Owned by Cid, it only offers the weakest accessories, almost all of which are geared towards granting elemental defense bonuses. Due to this, accessories acquired through other means are more or less guaranteed to outperform any store-bought ones. That said, due to the number of elemental resistance options it can be worthwhile to purchase them for party members in case you are fighting an opponent that relies on a single element a lot. The Element Ring is the most balanced, and in Final Mix it is conveniently made available much earlier (after Agrabah instead of Kairi's rescue).

Final Mix also expanded Cid's stock with the Firagun, Blizzagun, and Thundagun Band accessories, as well as the Obsidian Ring.

The Gummi Shop is another store also operated by Cid personally, which becomes available after the Old Book has been delivered to Merlin, a small quest that itself is only available after completing both Wonderland and Deep Jungle, followed by bringing two Navi-G Pieces to him. After the events in Traverse Town Cid will start selling gummis behind his own store, next to the empty storefront in front of the Item Workshop.

Cid's stock will increase by a lot over the game, as he only starts out with the basic Protect-G blocks and other simple ones. Over time he will end up selling two cockpits, all engines, weapons, and special blocks, as well as gummi garage system upgrades. Final Mix drastically changed the contents of several treasure chests, notably adding many powerful gummi blocks to chests. In return, said powerful gummi blocks have been removed from Cid's shop, namely all weapon gummis except the Thunder-G and Comet-G, the two top tier engine gummis, and the best types of all special gummis.

The Peddler runs his own small shop in Agrabah, with a few of the same items as Traverse Town's Item Shop. His main purpose is to serve as a way to be able to stock up on the weakest items without going all the way back to Traverse Town (although the weapons should already be purchased or replaced at this point). He can be randomly found within Aladdin's house after the defeat of Pot Centipede, and again in a stall in the Plaza after the Keyhole has been sealed and when the Heartless are gone entirely. Returning to the location afterwards will cause the Peddler to have vanished again, although he still show up inside the house.

In Final Mix his weapon stock has been removed, but the Camping Set has been added instead.
