As previously mentioned, the Kingdom Hearts series made a large appearance at the D23 Expo in Japan this week, and it seems that the announcements that the fans were disappointed weren't included at the Tokyo Game Show were in fact being saved for this event!

The first piece of news came with the confirmation that Kingdom Hearts -HD 2.5 ReMIX- will be released in 2014! The game will be another PS3 exclusive release and will include a compilation of Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix and Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep Final Mix, while Kingdom Hearts Re:coded will be represented by cinematic videos, much like Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days was in Kingdom Hearts -HD 1.5 ReMIX-. Some new areas are also revealed as Sora battles on a "Pirate Ship", and then against the Rock Titan while riding the train on the "Big Magic Mountain". But why should you listen to my account of the trailer? Check it out below!

Regarding interviews, gaming website RPGSite had a sit down with the series' producer Shinji Hashimoto and composer Yoko Shimomura. The duo talk about HD for Xbox, their favourite Kingdom Hearts things, and what it's been like to work on the game for over eleven years in the full interview, which can be found here.

IGN has posted an interesting article where they also talked with the aforementioned duo here. Although they were unable to comment on the series' future ahead of Kingdom Hearts III, they did hint that another HD remix might be in the works if Kingdom Hearts -HD 1.5 ReMIX- is well received!

Back home at the Keyhole the Underdrome has come to its conclusion. Don't worry though, because the Paradox Arena will be opening soon to continue on the intense battles. Who will come out the champion? Stay tuned to find out!

We've reached the end of August and boy has it been a news filled month! Before August becomes September, we've got one final news push, so let's get right into it!

Well, more exciting news might be coming our way soon as it has been confirmed that both Kingdom Hearts III and Kingdom Hearts χ will be making an appearance at the Tokyo Game Show! Check it out below!

Promotions for the Kingdom Hearts series are still in full swing, with the next event on the KH fan's calendar being the D23 Expo in Japan. D23 is a Disney themed conference held regularly in the United States, with this year's October event to be the first D23 held outside of the US. Back in March the inclusion of the KH series was confirmed, which was an interesting announcement as the series is usually excluded from Disney-centric events. It was revealed last month that a special auction would be held for charity, auctioning off a rare prototype figurine of Sora, with the packaging signed by series creator Tetsuya Nomura! The figure was created for reference way back during the creation of the very first game and will not be sold in stores. The figure can be viewed below and details on bidding at the auction can be found here.

Sora Character Model Figurine

That's not all that's lined up for KH fans planning on attending D23! Series creator Tesutya Nomura is confirmed for attendance, alongside executive producer Shinji Hashimoto, leading to speculation over what new information could be coming our way at the show. In the voice actor category, it has recently been announced that Miyu Irino, Mamoru Miyano, and Kouki Uchiyama are also planning to make an appearance. Those who have played the Japanese versions of the games will recognise Miyu as the voice of Sora and Vanitus, Mamoru as the voice of Riku, and Kouki as the man behind Roxas and Ventus. It looks like the D23 Expo in Japan is shaping up to be something for all Kingdom Hearts fans to get excited about!

Also on the subject of promoting, as per usual, Tetsuya Nomura has been conducting multiple interviews to talk about the future of the series. Pop culture site Hero Complex has an interesting article that looks at Tetsuya's thoughts on moving forward with the production of Kingdom Hearts III. Although he characteristically refuses to spill on potential worlds or characters for the next installment, he promises to try his best to live up to the high expectations of the series' fans.

French fansites FFWorld and FFRing have also has recent sit downs with Nomura, and translations of the intereview can be found over on KH news site KH13. In the interview, Nomura talks openly about the team behind the creation of Kingdom Hearts III and also hints at the future inclusion of Final Fantasy, as well as discussing the future of the new HD series.

In merchandise, new Play Arts Figures have been released! These figures mark the first release from the Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance inspired fifth series and are available at various retail outlets. The two released figurines feature Sora and Riku in their The Grid themed outfits, which means that these figures are also the first Kingdom Hearts figurines to feature inspiration from the series Tron. To make the items even sweeter, both figures come with three extra Keyblades inspired by the wielder represented by the figurines. The figurines and the extra Keyblades can be seen below.

To round off today's news, six beautiful new Kingdom Hearts inspired phone charms have just been hinted at. There is no news yet about whether these charms will be available for purchase soon, but we'll keep an eye on the developments! For now, take a gander at the charms at KHInsider!

First, let's get the boring stuff out of the way. Due to recent changes in USA law, wikia has decided to disable anonymous editing on wikis that they believe appeal to editors that are under 13 years of age. Because the Kingdom Hearts series is a PG game, our wiki has been designated as one that might attract a younger audience, and anonymous editing is now disabled on this site. We aren't too fond of this new policy, but the decision is out of our hands, and we apologise for any inconvenience this may cause helpful anonymous editors. Now that this policy has been implemented, we encourage you to create an account if you wish edit or become a part of our growing community. More information on this latest change can be found here.

Moving on, it's time to take a look at the latest Kingdom Hearts themed products that have hit the shelves! Remember those keychains we mentioned a few entries ago? Welp, now it has been revealed that the charms will be released on September 27th for ¥600 each. Designs will be available from Kingdom Hearts and Kingdom Hearts Re: Chain of Memories, with images of Sora, Donald, and Goofy representing the former title, and Sora and Riku representing the latter.

The Square Enix store has also opened a preorder page for a new iPhone 5 case! The design is inspired by the most recent addition to the series, Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 ReMIX, and features a black and gray motif. It will be released on September 27th and will cost ¥2,800. Get your orders in now!

The last piece of merchandising news is a new addition to the Kingdom Hearts plush line! We've been given a cuddly Dream Eater and a squishy Heartless in the past, and now it's time for the Nobodies to get some love! Also being unleashed on September 27th is the Dusk plushie, which will be available for ¥3,800. Check the upcoming toy out below!

Continuing along his campaign trail, Tetsuya Nomura has conducted interviews with various news portals, and information on Kingdom Hearts III has been highlighted in numerous popular media outlets. Once again courtesy of the helpful folks over at Kingdom Hearts Insider, below I have complied a list of the most recent interviews and press releases (in no particular order):

New promotional images of our all-too-familiar protagonists was revealed in Famitsu, showing the improved quality that we will be able to expect thanks to the new Kingdom Shader technique.

Kingdom Hearts III isn't the only game gaining traction, though! After a rather large lax in information regarding its progress, Kingdom Hearts χ is finally ready to make a splash! Announced last year, the game will be an online based RPG that takes the player through different worlds as they aim to battle evil and enrich their power. Last week a new trailer was released for the game which exhibited some of the gameplay elements future players can look forward to. Make sure to turn on the captions if you want to read an English translation of the story text!

Since then the game has been officially opened for beta testing, so head on over to the official site to take a look! As was the case with the first beta test, a Yahoo! JAPAN ID is required for entry. For those of you unable to join, take a look at the game's opening scene instead.

Opening Scene

Square Enix's presence has been confirmed for both the Tokyo Game Show 2013 (the convention runs from the 19th to the 22nd of September) and the D23 Expo Japan (the convention runs from the 12th to the 14nd of October), and fans are expecting the Kingdom Hearts series to make another appearance at both of these events. Nomura has promised more information on KH3 to appear at D23, while it was at last year's Tokyo Game Show that the HD remix was announced, so what other exciting developments could we expect this year? Only time will tell!

The Internet Explodes (June 13th)

-- FR Rose Left This concludes my wonderful story! FR Rose Right 11:47, June 13, 2013 (UTC)

That's right, it's finally happened: A trailer for Kingdom Hearts III has been revealed!

E3 2013 Trailer

On June 10th at E3 2013, the trailer was revealed to a great reception from fans everywhere! Gameplay footage from the game shows the standard Attack, Item and Magic options, with a secret option hidden behind a question mark. The gauges have also been updated, leaving much anticipation for new abilities that might be available for Sora and his friends when the game is released!
Shortly after, it was also revealed that the game would be available on the up and coming PS4, as well as the Xbox One! This will be the first time the KH franchise has worked with Microsoft, so it's a very exciting development! During interviews at E3, it was shared that there are no current plans for Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 ReMIX to be made available on Xbox, and no comments were allowed to be made on porting to the Wii U, or Pixar elements being incorporated into future games. It was also during this gathering that the official websites for Kingdom Hearts -1.5 HD ReMix- and Kingdom Hearts III were opened.

If you thought the news ended there you'd be dead wrong! Series creator Tetsuya Nomura was on the promotional trail, providing interviews with Square Enix Presents, Square Enix Channel and Famitsu magazine. Highlights include the conformation that Final Fantasy characters would most definitely be present in KHIII, and that Sora would be the main character. He said he would consider the multiplayer functions of the next gen consoles while in development, the ability to use summons would be different in this game, and we will surely be seeing more of Organization XIII and the dastardly Nobodies!
Talking about battle, Nomura explained he wants to evolve the battle system of KHIII, while also keeping some of the elements from past games, Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance in particular. He concluded by promising flashy action and asking for the fan's support. Full interview notes can be found on Kingdom Hearts Insider here, here and here.

Anticipating the amount of interest in the latest trailer, we would like to remind you of our no video policy. Due to abuse of this feature in the past, we do not allow videos to be uploaded on this wiki and instead encourage the use of the <youtube></youtube> tags. Unfortunately, because of a recent update implemented by wikia, these tags now upload the video embedded in them automatically, which is something which is causing a bit of trouble for our admins. It is because of this that we implore you to use the video template, as this prevents the automatic uploads. To learn more about adding a video to a page, please read the instructions provided on the template page, or contact one of our staff members. As always, any videos uploaded to this wiki will be deleted by an admin.

On a more positive note, next month we will be restarting our Featured Media and Featured Article pages. However, due a lack of user interest, these pages will be joined into one, and will now be moderated by the staff. Each month a staff member will choose a piece of media or an article to display on the front page, so please anticipate the showcase of our wiki's finest! Keep an eye out for these changes, as input from all users on these selections may be accepted soon.

To wrap things up, another piece of merchandise has been revealed; the Kingdom Hearts 1.5 wall scroll! The fantastic piece of artwork has not yet been given a release date, but we'll be sure to keep you posted!

Policy Progress (May 30th)

-- Come on everybody, just tap tap, twist your body 21:13, May 29, 2013 (UTC)

Some new changes are happening on the Keyhole, including a few things that could directly affect you. Most of these new happenings are related to the uploading and maintenance of images here, so if you're an avid image lover, please be sure to read the following very carefully!

First, a naming policy for our wiki has finally been written out. The page, which can be found here outlines the proper format for naming images when they are uploaded and should be consulted every time a new image is uploaded. A link to this page can also be found on the Upload Photo page in a big, highly noticeable banner, so there is no excuse for a badly named image.
Because we now have this policy clearly available for everyone to see, we are going to crack down on badly named images. Any images that have been uploaded with no effort to write a legible name shall be immediately deleted with no warning. However, images that have names that are only slightly incorrect shall simply be marked with the {{badname}} template and you will be allowed to rectify your mistake. To make it easier for both you and us, please ensure that when uploading images, you give them appropriate names!

Now, many older members may remember the feeling of signing up to the Keyhole and becoming overwhelmed by the sea of constant work available. As a newbie, what jobs are available and how can you help them? What if one job's too hard or another is too simple? Well, in an effort to solve this confusion, we have a launched a new Helping Out page! The page can be found here and lists a group of tasks, both big and small, that users are welcome to help out on. The list will be updated regularly by the staff and hopes to give a direction to users that want to help but are unsure how to. Take a look at the list and see if anything looks like it's in your ability range!
Alternatively, the page's talk page is available for anyone that has a job that they want assistance with. If you noticed something that needs work on but are unable to do so yourself, then let us know on the talk page and one of our staff members will discuss it with you.

For our final development, we're back to images! After some discussion, the staff have decided to initiate some new policies on the uploading of Talk Bubble Sprites to the Keyhole. The first change is that from now on any sprites you upload to the Keyhole will be made available to all other users. This means that if you are looking for a sprite to accessorize your bubble, you can use any of the images available in the TBS category. If you decide to use another person's sprite, please let them know first, as a sign of courtesy and good faith.
If you wish for your sprites to remain private to you and you only, please nominate the sprites you have here for deletion on the Pages for Deletion page and feel free to host them on an external image hosting site. Any images hosted externally will remain private to you.

Continuing on with talk bubbles, in the ongoing effort to clean up our image categories, it has been decided that sprites that are no longer linked on any page will be removed. If an unused sprite is found, it will be marked with the deletion template and you will be given one week to upload it somewhere else if you wish. However, if you want your sprite to stay hosted on the Keyhole, all you have to do is post a note on the image's discussion page stating so, and a staff member will discuss it with you. At your request, your image will be allowed to stay hosted here, despite not being used. Of course, if you make no such request, the image will be deleted a week after being nominated. Please keep an eye on your talk bubble sprites to ensure they will be protected!

Now, to finish off this post, let's hear some more merchandise news! It has recently been announced that a special pencil case and accessory bag to commemorate the release of Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 ReMIX are confirmed for release! Head on over to Kingdom Hearts Insider's article on the items to learn prices and where to buy!

What is less than a joke, however, is the fact that the Kingdom Hearts manga I mentioned below is now available for preorder on Amazon and other stores! The ever helpful Kingdom Hearts Insider has provided links to all the appropriate pages, so be sure to grab your copy!

Memories and Manga (April 2nd)

-- FR Lady Luck Left Final Rest FR Lady Luck Right 09:29, April 2, 2013 (UTC)

A few days ago fans of the KH series celebrated the 11th anniversary of the creation of the Kingdom Hearts universe and we here at the Keyhole would like to say Happy Birthday Kingdom Hearts! Can you believe there's been 11 years of Kingdom Hearts already? Although some of us (myself included) may be late bloomers to the series, I'm sure all of us are grateful for the day when Kingdom Hearts hit the shelves in game stores all over Japan!

A cause for more celebration was the recent announcement of new Kingdom Hearts themed keychains featuring artwork from the first game and Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories. You can view the sample image of the keychains here, but so far there's no news on when or where they will be available. We'll try to keep you posted though!

In other merchandise news, Square Enix recently added two beautiful Kingdom Hearts themed earphone jacks to thier online store. The designs available are Sora's iconic crown and Roxas' familiar X. Each jack costs 1,200円 and they will be made available this coming May 13th.

We've saved the best news for last! At the recent Sakura-Con in Seattle, Washington, manga publishers Yen Press proudly announced that they'd be resuming the publication of Shiro Amano's Kingdom Hearts Manga series! Instead of continuing from where the previous publisher left off, Yen Press announced they would be beginning the series all over again. The Kingdom Hearts Final Mix volumes will be released in May, followed by Chain of Memories in June. The first volume of the 358/2 Days story will be available in November, with the Kingdom Hearts II volumes bridging the gap after Chain of Memories. As an added bonus, the Shiro Amano Kingdom Hearts artbook will also be released around the same time as the Kingdom Hearts II manga.

Get your wallets ready everyone, because this looks like it's going to be a tough year for the bank accounts of KH fans everywhere!

It has been a while, hasn't it? Well, since my last post quite a bit has gone on in KH-verse! Prepare yourself for a news overload!

The recently announced Kingdom Hearts χ has opened up it's own Japanese site! To top things off, a special message from the kingdom revealed that Yahoo Games will be holding a beta test for the game! Even more tantalizing is Japanese site 4gamer revealing additional information about the upcoming title. You can read a translation of the article on Kingdom Hearts Insider thanks to their contributor Zephyr. It's really exciting to see things moving forward, even though there's nothing for us international fans just yet! Fingers crossed for some English updates soon!

Moving over to the latest addition to the KH series family, who else is drooling over the Japanese release of Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 ReMIX? I know I am and I don't even have a copy of the game! This game marks the first time KH will be viewed in HD, and once it is released internationally, it'll also be the first time any final mix has traveled outside of Japan. Exciting stuff, huh? Japanese magazine Famitsu also featured a special interview with the Director, Co-Director and Composer of the game, which reveals more about the game's development, as well as some more information on game play and visuals. You can read a translation of the article here, also thanks to Kingdom Hearts Insider and Zephyr.

The fans of Kingdom Hearts move fast and some are already looking forward to 1.5's follow up, Kingdom Hearts 2.5 HD ReMIX. It appears that the credits for 1.5 show images from Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep, Kingdom Hearts II and Kingdom Hearts coded and some have speculated that this is a signal of the games that will feature in the next series remaster. Could we be seeing these three titles on our PS3s soon? One can only hope!

That's all the Kingdom Hearts news I have for now, but if you have anything you think the wiki should know, pop on over to our new tips page to let us know! Everyone is welcome to submit news!

Also in wiki news, if you have a copy of Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 ReMIX and are looking to share your knowledge, why not have a go at editing our 1.5 HD ReMix page? I'm also sure that our sister site would also appreciate any help.
