This is a list of weapons that appear in Kingdom Hearts II and the Final Mix version. They are listed in the order of their earliest availability. Each party member uses their own type, Keyblades for Sora, rods and mallets for Donald, and shields for Goofy, with others simply using their personal item.
Mechanics[]
Weapons possess their own base attributes, and add them to the attributes of the wielder. Keyblades are typically gained by completing a world, typically by defeating the strongest boss, but can also be found under other circumstances, such as completing certain objectives. The latter also occurs for Donald and Goofy's weapons, but they are also the only ones that can be bought with Munny at Moogle Shops. The few items that become available upon reaching a new shop at a new world will then also be available in previous worlds. Item synthesis is also required to acquire several weapons, and several can even be upgraded into a stronger version through synthesis (acquiring the '+' suffix).
All weapons by default grant the wielder either Str or Mag, with most weapons either focusing on one or the other. Both stats affect physical and magical damage output, respectively, and have a cap depending on the local battle level. This means that the strongest bosses, the Organization XIII Replica Data and Lingering Will cap out at 78 for both, whereas the Hades Paradox Cup caps at 165. Unlike Kingdom Hearts, weapons no longer deal critical hits, nor do they have unique recoil levels, although their length does remain a factor in gameplay.
New in Kingdom Hearts II are the abilities that weapons posses natively, which act as a supplementary addition to the abilities normally equipped with Ability Points. Each of Sora's Keyblades have a distinct ability, unlike Donald's and Goofy's weapons, as only their most powerful weapons have their own ability. Usually a weapon's ability will be its most deciding and attractive feature, as their attribute bonuses often have comparable little impact during actual combat.
Roxas' weapons[]
Early on Roxas has to pick between the three different Struggle Bats, each of which grants him one point in their own respective attribute; Strength, Defense, and Magic. Although he gets to keep his chosen item, using it in Twilight Town, later on during the Struggle tournament he always uses a Struggle Sword by default, as does Sora. In Dive into the Heart he also has to choose between the Dream Sword, Dream Shield, and the Dream Rod, identical to how Sora had to choose. This time they only affect the abilities he and Sora can gain upon leveling up, and after the choice has been made he instead acquires the Kingdom Key.
Sora's weapons[]
Unlike the first game, Sora's Keyblades have less difference in terms of damage output stats overall. Most will favor Strength, or be balanced to both Strength and Magic, with only a small few primarily boosting Magic damage. Due to the abilities each Keyblade possess careful choice of the available ones is important, as they can easily have a far larger impact than the initial attributes gained. Most Keyblades possess abilities that have little to no practical use, or are at best only truly powerful under specific circumstances. Early on the Hero's Crest is very powerful, due to the Air Combo Boost improving the damage on aerial finishers. Oathkeeper is similarly useful early on as a secondary on Drive Forms, and Rumbling Rose stands out due to its Finishing Plus and high Strength.
Later on the Decisive Pumpkin will appear, which is also one of the strongest Keyblades in the game due to its Combo Boost ability, which works similarly to Hero's Crest, but affects ground combos, at the cost of lower Magic damage. Sleeping Lion, Fatal Crest, and Fenrir are also powerful, but generally less so than the Decisive Pumpkin. Lastly the Ultima Weapon is the strongest and most balanced Keyblade, with MP Hastega being useful under almost any circumstance. The new Winner's Proof, unique to Final Mix, has even higher Magic damage, but its ability negates Experience gained, and does not actually grant anything useful in comparison instead.

Donald's weapons[]
Donald uses on staffs, which are generally balanced in both Strength and Magic damage, although the latter is his only method for more effective forms of damage output. Since not all of his weapons have an ability, and the best ones are only available relatively late, the actual choice comes down to which you manage to acquire first. The Centurion+ added in Final Mix has the useful Damage Control ability, and both Save the Queens are also well-rounded. Regardless, since Donald relies on magic a lot the Premium Mushroom's MP Hastega is most useful. It, and the weaker versions, are only dropped by Mushroom XIII enemies, provided they have an uneven number (No. XIII excepted).

Goofy's weapons[]
Goofy uses shields, with no magic capabilities, causing him to only rely on the Strength attribute. As with Donald not all of his weapons have an ability, and those that do are not always truly notable. Similarly, the best shields are from Final Mix, such as the Akashic Record+ and Frozen Pride+ with MP Hastera and MP Hastega respectively, although the Nobody Guard can also be a decent stop-gap until then. Later on the Save the King+ and Ultimate Mushroom provide the best form of strength, coupled with powerful defensive abilities, especially the latter's Protectga. It, and the weaker versions, are only dropped by Mushroom XIII enemies, provided they have an even number.
