The Illuminator is a boss from Kingdom Hearts II.
A relatively unknown Heartless, the Illuminator is the first boss of Port Royal. The gecko-like Heartless is summoned by Pete to aid Captain Barbossa with its powers to shroud the room in darkness. The darkness makes Barbossa invincible, and it makes things almost impossible to see. However, by searching for the Illuminator's glowing eyes, Sora destroys the Heartless, thereby allowing him to attack Barbossa until another Illuminator appears at Pete's call.
The Illuminator bears a resemblance to another reptilian Heartless from Kingdom Hearts, the Stealth Sneak. While the Illuminator does not attack and can only assist Barbossa, it imposes a visual handicap like the Stealth Sneak.

A Heartless called forth in Port Royal by Pete.
It had glowing eyes and a lantern on its tail, which was used to absorb light and create darkness to help Barbossa, whose weakness was moonlight.
