Story

Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep

The three good fairies appear during Ventus's visit to Enchanted Dominion after Maleficent took Aurora's heart using Terra's darkness to manipulate him into releasing it from her body using his Keyblade. All three of them can sense Ventus's heart of pure light is like that of Aurora's and explain what happened to hers. After being convinced that they should try to geet Aurora's heart back, the three fairies accompany Ven to the forest, where Fauna douses the barrier of flames Maleficent had raised to keep Vanitas's Unversed out of her territory. After eaching the Forbidden Mountain, they decend into Maleficent's castle to retrieve her heart. Ventus defeats the goons Maleficent left gaurding the heart as they navigate the maze in the hall housing Aurora's captive heart. After Ventus uses his Keyblade to douse the flames Maleficent raised to keep the heart captive, they see Aurora's memory of meeting Prince Phillip for the first time as her heart flies off to return to her body. They explain Aurora's dream to meet her true love came true and see that Ven houses strong beliefs in his heart as well. When they attempt to leave, they run into Maleficent, who they help beat using their good magic to repel Maleficent's slumder encantations. After Ventus reunites with Aqua, Fauna tries to keep Ventus from running off, but is stopped by Flora. Right after Aqua is thrown Maleficent's dungeon, they help her and prince Phillip escape so Phillip can break Maleficent's curse on Aurora. After Malficent had transformed into a dragon to combast Phillip and Aqua, the three fairies used their magic to enchant Phillip's sword, which he then used to defeat Maleficent's dragon form. At the end of the story, Prince Phillip kisses Aurora and breaks the spell.

During the ending credits, the three fairies observe the couple as they dance. But when Flora sees the blue color on Aurora's dress, she changes it to pink and Merryweather changes it back to blue. This continues until the video fades out on the couple.

[[r===''Kingdom Hearts II''=== For unknown reasons, the three good fairies have taken up residence with Master Yen Sid in his Mysterious Tower by "Kingdom Hearts 2" despite Enchanted Dominion having been restored by the actions of Sora in "Kingdom Hearts". Yen Sid directed Sora to the Wardrobe room next to his study so Sora could aquire new, better-fitted clothes to replace his previous attire as he had out grown it. Unfortunately, all three of them only changed the color of Sora's current outfit repeatedly, though Fauna was polite about it - unlike Flore and Merryweather, which unknown to them was being watched by Maleficent's faithful raven, Diablo. After an annoyed Sora asked them to decide own what to change his outfit into, all three combined their magic to transform Sora's outfit into his current dark colored one. They inform Sora, Donald and Goofy that Yen Sid has their Gummi ship waiting for them and wish them luck. Right after Sora's group leaves, Diablo brings Maleficent's empty robe into their room from Hollow Bastion. They have forgotten about her since she hadn't bothered them since Enchanted Dominion was destroyed previously. Merryweather remembers Maleficent and utters her name, but Flora tells her not to rememebr her name. Unfortunately, their memories of the witch were used by Maleficent to ressurect herself from the Realm of Darkness. While Maleficent was still rejuvanating, Flora and Fauna fled to tell Master Yen Sid as Merryweather stayed to watch Maleficent fully ressurect and frightenly follows them.

They do not return to the Mysterious Tower as Yen Sid does not as well, leaving it open for the Nobodies to infest it later when Twilight Town is fully accessable again.

Abilities

The three fairies can fly with their fairy wings and teleport in the form of magic sparks.

Their main source of magic lies in their three magic wands, which have the power to create, shapeshift as well as erase things. They can also use their magic to minimize their size. Since they are fairies of good, they can only use their magic to bring joy and happiness, and aren't very useful in combat. However, they can use it to neutralize danger.

Origin

The three good fairies of the land first appear in Sleeping Beauty at Princess Aurora's birthday celebration to bestow upon her their gifts. Flora gives her the gift of beauty to have gold of sunshine in her hair, lips that shame the reddest rose and that she walks with springtime wherever she goes. Fauna gives her the gift of song, melody her whole life long, nightingales and troubadours that bring sweet serenades to her door.

Before Merryweather can give her a gift, Maleficent arrives and is angered that she was not invited to the celebration so she also gives a "gift" to Aurora. She curses Aurora so that before the sun sets on her 16th birthday she will prick her finger on the spindle of a spinning wheel and die. After Maleficent leaves, Merryweather gives a gift to lessen the curse so that when she pricks her finger she will only fall asleep.

After the party, the fairies plan to hide Aurora and keep her away from Maleficent until Aurora's 16th birthday. They take her to the forest, call Aurora "Briar Rose", and act mortal in front of her. They take her to the castle before the sunset of her birthday where Maleficent lures Aurora to touch a spindle of a spinning wheel. The fairies arrive too late to help her and cast a spell on all of the people in the castle so they don't find out. They go to find Prince Philip to help him defeat Maleficent and break the curse.

Appearance

All three of the fairies have short, grey hair, carry a yellow wand, and wear conical hats with a chinstrap made of cloth that wraps around the cone of the hat. They all wear long-sleeved dresses and capes that are nearly identical, except in terms of color. They are all roughly the same height as well.

Flora is between the other two fairies in terms of weight and dresses in a red dress and cape, with a gold skirt under the dress with gold cuffs. Her cape is secured by a rectangular, gold broach. Her wings are small, triangular, and have a faint, red tint. Her hat is also red, and the cloth wrapped around it is gold.

Fauna is the thinnest of the group, and wears a green cape, a lighter green dress, and an even lighter green skirt under the dress. She fastens her cape with a triangular, green broach. Her hat is green and the cloth wrapped around it is pale green. Her wings are small, triangular, and have a faint green tint.

Merryweather is the most heavy-set of the three, and dresses in a dark blue cape, a blue dress, and a light blue skirt under the dress. Her cape is secured by a blue, circular broach. Her hat is blue and wrapped in light blue cloth.

Trivia

  • When the three fairies remember Maleficent, and went to inform Yen Sid, there were two different versions. In Japanese version, the fairies simply disappeared; in the English version, they turned into a ball of light much like in the original Disney animation.
