The Situation Command is a mechanic introduced in Kingdom Hearts 0.2 Birth by Sleep -A fragmentary passage-. It is a combat-sensitive command activated with Triangle that bears similarities to the Reaction Command mechanic while retaining elements from the previously-introduced Command Gauge system.

Mechanics[]

Situation Commands are context-sensitive commands that are unlocked through battle performance. By engaging in combat, arrow-shaped markers appear above the Command Menu. When sufficient damage is inflicted while at three markers, the markers are dispensed and one or more Situation Commands appear above the Command Menu, alongside a timer next to them indicating how long the player has until the Command disappears. Some Situation Commands, however, do not use the markers as a trigger, but are rather based on actively-occurring scenarios, much like Reaction Commands.

The Situation Commands that appear are based on the player's battle style when acquiring markers, and can vary from powerful finishing attacks to Style Changes. A highly-varied battle style can also unlock multiple Situation Commands simultaneously, allowing the player to unleash several powerful moves in rapid succession. When multiple Situation Commands appear at once, the player can scroll between them like a regular Command and trigger the highlighted Situation Command with Triangle. In Kingdom Hearts III, the player can have a maximum of 6 Situation Commands at a time with some exceptions; any new ones that appear will discard and replace the oldest one.

If the player does not attack or block anything for a period of time, any gained markers will be discarded. In Kingdom Hearts III, the markers will slowly disappear rather than all at once. Certain abilities will also present more opportunities to fill the markers.

Timers on Situation Commands can be recharged by re-initiating a Situation Command trigger, using the same method as unlocking a Situation Command normally. Situation Commands that are not activated by markers cannot have their timers recharged.

General[]

Command Description Context

Combat[]

Combat-based Situation Commands are unlocked through battle performance. Like Command Styles and Finish Commands from Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep, engaging in combat has arrow-shaped markers appear above the Command Menu. When sufficient damage is inflicted while at three markers, the markers are dispensed and Situation Commands appear above the Command Menu, alongside a timer next to them indicating how long the player has until the Command disappears. These timers can be refreshed by re-initiating the Situation Command's trigger.

The Situation Commands that appear are based on the player's battle style when acquiring markers, and can vary among Grand Magic, Formchanges, Style Changes, Attractions, and Team Attacks. A highly-varied battle style can also unlock multiple Situation Commands simultaneously, allowing the player to unleash several powerful moves in rapid succession. Event-specific Situation Commands[]

Command Description Context
Wayfinder (ウェイファインダー Weifaindā?) Bind the Demon Tide, rendering it vulnerable to combos. Triggers Wayfinder when completed. Deal sufficient damage to the Demon Tide and wait for Mickey to jump onto it.
Finish (フィニッシュ Finisshu?) Deliver a powerful surge of light to the Demon Tide. Fill the meter with Wayfinder active during the Demon Tide fight.

Command Description Context
Second Form (2ndフォーム 2nd Fōmu?, lit. "2nd Form") Activate the Second Form Formchange. Fill the meter with physical combos with the Kingdom Key, Starlight, Midnight Blue, Dawn Till Dusk, or Phantom Green Keyblades.
Stun Impact (スタンインパクト Sutan Inpakuto?) Gather energy and unleash it in a large burst, stunning nearby enemies. Default Finish command for Second Form.
Sonic Blade (ソニックレイヴ Sonikku Reivu?, lit. "Sonic Rave") Execute a number of successive thrusting attacks. Fill the meter with physical combos during Second Form.
Ars Arcanum (ラストアルカナム Rasuto Arukanamu?, lit. "Last Arcanum") Attack enemies with a flurry of powerful slashes. Fill the meter a second time with physical combos during Second Form.
Ancient Light (エンシェントブライト Enshiento Buraito?, lit. "Ancient Bright") Summon the power of Keyblades from the ancient past and deal heavy damage to all nearby enemies. Fill the meter a second time with physical combos during Second Form S.
Counter Shield (カウンターシールド Kaunta Shīrudo?) Activate the Counter Shield Formchange. Fill the meter with physical combos with the Hero's Origin Keyblade.
Double Arrowguns (ツーガンアロー Tsū Gan Arō?, lit. "Two Gun Arrow") Activate the Double Arrowguns Formchange. Fill the meter with physical combos with the Shooting Star Keyblade.

Rage Form Activate the Rage Form Formchange. Allow Sora's HP to drop to Critical. This will not always appear.
Riskcharge Spend half of Sora's remaining HP to gain a Strength boost. Can be stacked up to 3 times before "Finish" appears. Press Triangle / Y while Rage Form is active.

Aeroza Blow enemies away with a massive Aero spell. Fill the meter with Aeroga spells.
Dark Firaga (ダークファイガ Dāku Faiga?, lit. "Dark Figa") Fire a ball of dark flames that splits into multiple fireballs at a target. Fill the meter with physical combos. Only available while playing as Riku.

Donald Meteor (ドナルドメテオ Donarudo Meteo?) Team up with Donald and rain down meteors on enemies.
Goofy Bombardier (グーフィー Gūfī ?) Team up with Goofy, launch into the air and hurl him down on enemies.
Trinity Guard (トリニティラッシュ Toriniti Rasshu?, lit. "Trinity Rush") Team up with Goofy and attack enemies with his shield.
Heroic Swing (トスイング/Suingu lit. "Mighty Swing"?) Team up with Hercules and attack enemies while swinging around.
Rocket Ruckus (ロデオロケット Rodeo Roketto?, lit. "Rodeo Rocket") Team up with Woody and Buzz as you ride around on The Big One and attack enemies.
Tangled Twist (スワロウリパーサル? lit.) Team up with Rapunzel and Flynn/Eugene, get wrapped in Rapunzel's hair and thrown onto enemies. Available until the player reaches The Kingdom in the Kingdom of Corona.
Scream Strike (? lit.) Team up with Mike and Sulley, surprise enemies and throw Mike at them.
Mighty Avalanche (アヴァランチブレス Avaranchi Buresu?, lit. "Avalanche Breath") Team up with Marshmallow and attack enemies with ice attacks.
Never Fear (ネバー? lit. "Never Fear, I'm Here") Team with Jack Sparrow, attack with swords and finish with a flurry of bombs.
Interceptor Wing (? lit. "Intercept Wing") Team up with Baymax and attack enemies in the air.
Double Duel (ダブルデュエル Daburu Dueru?) Team up with Mickey and attack the Demon Tower with two spinning attacks of light and darkness. Available during the Demon Tower fight.

Attractions[]

Command Description Context
Mountain Coaster Summon the train from Big Thunder Mountain to lay waste to enemies with fireworks. Available during the fights against Rock Titan and the swarm of enemies in the Keyblade Graveyard.
Pirate Ship Summon a pirate ship to swing at and splash enemies with water attacks. Damage an enemy with an active Attraction icon. Only usable in large open spaces.
Mad Tea Cups Slide and spin around inside huge teacups from Mad Tea Party. Damage an enemy with an active Attraction icon.
Blaster Blaze Hop inside one of Buzz Lightyear's Astro Blasters and shoot enemies in first-person mode. Damage an enemy with an active Attraction icon.
Splash Run Jump around in a splashing ride that leaves streams of water behind. When the gauge runs out, ride along the stream at super-speed damaging everything. Damage an enemy with an active Attraction icon. Only usable in large open spaces.
Magic Carousel Take a ride on an enchanted carousel. Time and press X / Circle when the circle of light reaches the edge of the carousel to damage all nearby enemies. Damage an enemy with an active Attraction icon. Only usable in large open spaces.

Event-specific Situation Commands[]

Command Description Context
Trinity Sled Ride on Goofy's shield. Used to get across the fire in Olympus, to slide down the North Mountain in Arendelle, and in the town of Port Royal in The Caribbean.
Subzero Impact Use Marshmallow and the Keyblade's power to destroy the dark sun. Used against the Sköll when transformed into the dark sun.
Sora N/A Used when the Demon Tower is at 1 HP.
Return to the Light Attack Master Xehanort to reclaim Sora's light. Used after collect Sora's stolen light from Master Xehanort during the final battle.
Last Ray Release the Keyblade's power. Used when Master Xehanort is at 1 HP during the final battle.
Trinity Call upon the Bonds of Friendship. Used during the fake-out death screen during the final battle.
