Template:Under Construction Command Meld is a system in Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep that replaces the traditional Item Synthesis. Like Materia Fusion in Crisis Core -Final Fantasy VII-, Command Meld allows the character to create new Deck Commands by combining specific pairs of Commands. Most Commands must be mastered in order to be used as ingredients. Furthermore, synthesis materials such as the Fleeting Crystal or Abounding Crystal can be added to the mix. Although this does not change the resulting Command, it attaches a certain Ability to it, depending on the Crystal used and the meld it is applied to. Commands created using a Chaos Crystal will have a random ability attached. Commands created using a Secret Gem will automatically reach their maximum level and have a random ability attached to them. Some commands when melded together will evolve into a more rare command. Many powerful commands and meldable Shotlock can only be created in this manner.

For example, mixing a Lvl 3 Fire Surge and a Lvl 3 Aero will produce Aerial Slam. If a Soothing Crystal is added to the mixture, the Aerial Slam will have an attached HP Boost ability.
