Sora's Story[]

Marluxia: Ahead lies something you need—but to claim it, you must lose something dear.

First Floor entrance[]

Donald: Looks like nobody's home.

Goofy: You sure we should just barge in like this?

Donald: We have to if we're gonna find the king...

Goofy: The king?! King Mickey's here?

Donald: Maybe, maybe not. Something told me he'd be here, that's all.

Goofy: Really?! But...now that you mention it, I was thinkin' the same thing.

Sora: Are you serious? So was I! One look at this castle, and I just knew: They're here.

Goofy: Well, whaddaya know! Great minds think alike, I guess.

Jiminy Cricket: Guess again! This can't be mere coincidence.

Donald: Why, Jiminy? Don't tell me that—

Jiminy Cricket: I felt it, too!

Goofy: Gawrsh, maybe it's contagious.

Donald: Or maybe something funny's going on! I think we should check it out.

Sora: Okay.

Donald: Hey, where are you going?

Sora: To check it out! What's the matter, scared?

Donald: D-Don't be ridiculous! Come on, Goofy!

Goofy: Okay, but we should shut the door behind us. Sora!

Sora: Who is THAT?!

Donald: It must be a Heartless! Let's see how it handles my magic! THUNDER! ...

Sora & Goofy: (?)

Donald: Huh? That's odd. THUNDER! THUNDER!! Umm... FIRE! Blizzard? ... I don't get it. Why isn't my magic working?

Marluxia: I should think it's obvious. The moment you set foot in this castle, you forgot every spell and ability you knew...though the forgetting does not end there. In this place, to find is to lose and to lose is to find. That is the way of things in Castle Oblivion.

Sora: Castle Oblivion?

Marluxia: Yes...Here you will meet people you know. People you miss.

Sora: Look, there's no one—Riku! You mean Riku! He IS here!

Marluxia: Do you want to find him? If you do...

Sora, Donald, & Goofy: (!)

Sora: What did you do?

Marluxia: I sampled your memories. And from them, I made this. This is the key to reuniting with those you hold dear.

Sora: What is this, a card?

Marluxia: A promise. Use that card and press on. You will find your friend.

Marluxia: Hold the card before you. The door will open, and beyond it a new world.

On-screen

Control Pad: Select a card (Sora only has one card now.)
A Button: Confirm

Sora: Like this?

Marluxia: Yes. Go, Sora. To lose and claim anew, or to claim anew only to lose...

Sora, Donald, & Goofy: (!)

Sora: (...) C'mon, guys—let's go.

Traverse Town[]

Sora: (!) Wait, this can't be right. We're in Traverse Town!

Marluxia: It isn't reality that you see. This town is an illusion conceived by your memories ingrained in that card.

Sora: My memories?

Jiminy Cricket: Forget about that, Sora! We're two heads short!

Sora: Donald? Goofy? Guys, where are you? What did you do with them?

Marluxia: They are at the mercy of the cards now. Master the cards, and their strength will be yours again.

Marluxia: The laws of this castle require that your friends be transformed into cards. If you value your friends, you will pick them up without fail.

On-screen: + Control Pad: Move

(Upon picking up the card.)
Marluxia: Cards you pick up are added to the top of your stack. Use them, and your friends will come to your aid.

On-screen: A Button: Use card

(Upon using the Donald card.)
Marluxia: The cards you use vanish, but they will reappear to aid you time and again. Cards are the hearts of your friends. Everything in this castle is ruled by cards. Whether an enemy or a door stands in your way, cards are the only way to proceed. But you mustn't forget your own strength.

On-screen:

B Button: Jump
Tap the + Control Pad Left or Right twice: Dodge Roll

(After following the instructions.)
Marluxia: First think for yourself. Move, then use the cards.

On-screen: A Button: Use card

(After using three cards.)
Marluxia: Good. Every move you make causes a card to disappear. If you use up all your cards, you will be unable to act. But there is a solution. Keep using cards until you run out, and I will show you.

(After using up all your cards.)
Marluxia: There. You have no more cards, and without them, no power. If you want that power back, you must focus. Bid the cards return to you...and they will.

On-screen:

Reloading Cards
Select the reload card icon and hold down the A Button.

(After reloading your deck.)
Marluxia: The strength of your heart brought back the lost cards. You can recall spent cards at any time—you need only wish it. But each time you do, the cards will take longer to return. The cards are by no means unlimited. Use them wisely. Anticipate the flow of battle and choose the most effective cards. You may use any card in your deck.

On-screen:

Selecting Cards
L Button: Cycle cards left
R Button: Cycle cards right

(After cycling through your deck.)
Marluxia: The four card types you use in battle are grouped into two wider categories. The first category includes attack cards, magic cards, and item cards. The second category consists entirely of enemy cards. To use cards from a different category—

On-screen:

Changing Categories
Press SELECT.

(After pressing SELECT.)
Marluxia: Cards will empower you whether you are attacking or defending. But it is up to you to decide when to attack and when to defend. Do not forget it.

(After the tutorial ends.)
Sora: Are you two all right? Where have you been?

Donald: You tell us! When you opened the door, there was this weird light... ...and the rest is a big blank.

Jiminy Cricket: Well, try to remember what happened. I need to keep my journal up to date.

Goofy: (!) Hey, wait a second... Donald, where'd you get the new duds?

Donald: You too, Goofy! Somebody's been messing with our clothes!

Sora: The cards again?

Marluxia: That is for you to ponder. Master the cards and make your way through the castle. From here on, you walk alone.

Goofy: You mean we can't go with him? That's not fair!

Sora: (!)

Donald: Yeah! Sora can't do anything without our help!

Sora: (!) Thanks a lot, Donald!

Goofy: You sure you'll be okay?

Sora: Of course! You want me to go alone? Fine. I can take care of myself.

Marluxia: Hmm, the hero speaks boldly. Go, then. The rest of Castle Oblivion awaits. Walk the avenues of latent memory, and you shall meet someone dear to you.

Sora: (...)

Jiminy Cricket: I have a really bad feeling about this...

Sora: Relax, Jiminy. I'm ready for any tricks he's got up his sleeve. How hard can it be to figure out these cards? All I have to do is use one in front of that door over there.

On-screen: You can perform the following actions in the field.

+ Control Pad: Move
A Button: Swing Keyblade
B Button: Jump

On-screen: To open doors in the field, strike them with your Keyblade.

On-screen: Obtained Key of Beginnings.

(Upon hitting the door.)
On-screen: To proceed to the next room, you need a map card. Map cards are used to synthesize new, unexplored rooms. First, select the map card you want to use.

+ Control Pad: Select a card
A Button: Confirm
B Button: Cancel

(Upon selecting the only available card.)
On-screen: The number you see in the middle of the screen is the criterion for opening the door. The criterion displayed now means that the door will open with a value of 1 or greater. You need to pick a card that meets this criterion. Cards have marked values from 0 to 9. Zero cards (marked 0) are special cards which meet all criteria. The card without a marked value is a Keycard. Keycards are only used at special doors.

(Upon approaching the save point in the next room.)
On-screen: The swirling crystal in front of Sora is called a save point. Stand near it and press the A Button to open the save menu.

(Upon closing the save menu.)
On-screen: Aside from saving at a save point, you can also Quick Save anywhere in the field. Open the game menu by pressing START, choose "Quick Save" and press the A Button.

On-screen: Striking objects in the field with your Keyblade yields various results. Try striking the barrel.

(Upon hitting the barrel.)
On-screen: Inanimate objects aren't the only things you can hit. Touching a Heartless on the field starts a battle... ...but you can strike the Heartless first to gain the upper hand.

(Upon hitting a door marked with a crown.)
On-screen: Doors emblazoned with a crown are special doors. You need special cards called Keycards to open these doors. But just having the Keycard isn't enough to open the door. You need the Keycard AND one or more additional cards meeting certain criteria. Pick map cards that meet the criteria and you can open the door.

Key of Beginnings room[]

Sora: Hmm, fighting alone isn't as easy as I thought...

Sora: (?) (!) Aaaah!! Don't pop out of nowhere like that!

Donald: It's not our fault. We don't know what's going on either.

Goofy: Gawrsh, your fighting's gotten kinda rusty. You sure you don't need us?

Sora: I'm fine, honest.

Leon: Think like that, and you're as good as Heartless fodder.

Sora: Leon, it's you! What are you doing in Castle Oblivion?

Leon: Castle Oblivion? What are you talking about? This is Traverse Town. And how do you know my name?

Sora: (!)

Leon: I've never seen any of you before in my life.

Sora: Quit playing, Leon! We all fought the Heartless together! You know that!

Leon: Look, I don't know what you're talking about. I don't even know your names.

Goofy: You don't?

Leon: Sorry.

Sora: I can't believe it. How can you have forgotten about us?

Leon: Hey, I feel for you. But you've got the wrong guy. Happens all the time. Don't take it so personally, Sora.

Donald: (!)

Goofy: (?)

Donald: You DO know his name!

Sora & Leon: (!)

Leon: Now, now hold on! Why do I know your name?

Goofy: You think Leon's just kidding around?

Donald: If he is, it's not very funny. Sora's really hurt.

Leon: Who's kidding around, Goofy? You and Donald are the ones who—

Donald & Goofy: (!)

Goofy: Hey!

Leon: (...) I don't get it... What's happened to my memory?

Yuffie: I dunno, Leon. Maybe Aerith was onto something after all.

Everyone: (!)

Yuffie: She said she sensed some uncanny kind of power and asked us to look into it. Well, we looked. And this is as uncanny as it gets. Maybe we should bring Sora and the others to Aerith.

Sora: Yuffie, you know my name!

Yuffie: (!) Yep! Looks like you know mine, too.

Leon: A friend of yours?

Yuffie: Nope! Total stranger. But I definitely know his name. Strange, yes, but convenient! We can skip the introductions.

Leon: (...) Well, gee, Yuffie. I guess all our problems are solved.

Yuffie: Anyways, I'm gonna run ahead and fill Aerith in. Leon, you give Sora and the others the grand tour. See ya later!

Leon: (...) Well, let's get on with it. Come on, follow me. Be careful, though. There are still Heartless wandering around town. I'd better teach you how to protect yourself in battle.

Leon: See the numbers printed on your cards? They range from 0 to 9. Higher numbers mean stronger cards. If you and your enemy both play a card at the same time, the higher card wins. Go on, try it out.

(After using nine cards.)
Leon: See how it works? Playing a card higher than your opponent's and breaking through their defenses... ...is called a "card break." Playing a lower card results in your attack being deflected. Even powerful cards can be deflected if the enemy's card is higher. Whoever is on the losing side of a break is left wide open to attacks. Don't let that person be you.

Leon: Cards with 0 as their value are special. No matter what card the enemy plays, you can break it with a zero card. But you have to wait until AFTER the enemy plays their card. If you play the zero card too soon, the enemy can break it with any card they play. In other words, it's the most powerful card if it comes last, and useless if it comes first. Try to make the most of it. Card values also affect the cost of assembling a deck. Keep that in mind.

Leon: Now it's time to teach you how to stock cards. You don't have to use battle cards one at a time. You can also assemble three cards and use hem all at once. This is called stocking cards. Stocking cards and using them in threes is much stronger than using cards individually. Go on, give it a try. Stock any three cards in your deck. Remember, you need three cards or it won't work.

On-screen:

Stocking a Card
Press the L and R Buttons simultaneously.

(Upon stocking three cards.)
Leon: The sum of your three stocked cards becomes the value you play. The value is usually high and hard to break, and the combo attack deals a lot of damage. Don't hold back. Show me what you can do.

On-screen: After stocking three cards, press the L and R Buttons simultaneously to use them.

(Upon using the stocked combo.)
Leon: Combo attacks aren't the only benefit of stocking cards. Choose your cards carefully and you can unleash special abilities called "sleights." Sleights come in all varieties, and each has its own unique card combination. You should try it out once you've collected more cards and learned a sleight or two. But keep one thing in mind. Every time you use a sleight, you lose the first card you picked for the sleight. You can't reload it. The lost card won't return until the end of the battle. Relying only on sleights will cause your cards to run out. That means trouble.

Leon: Think you've got the hang of it, Sora?

Sora: Yeah, more or less. I'll pick up the rest when I fight some real battles.

Leon: Here, I found this lying around. You take it. Remember what I told you and make good use of it.

On-screen: Obtained Simba.

On-screen: Obtained Key of Guidance.

Key of Guidance room[]

Sora: Aerith, tell me you haven't forgotten me, too.

Aerith: (...) I don't know whether to say "nice to meet you" or "good to see you again." It feels like a little of both. I don't think I know you, but I still feel like you belong here.

Yuffie: Yeah, exactly! Like we've never met, but it still doesn't feel weird knowing your name.

Sora: But I'm telling you, we HAVE met. We took on the Heartless together. We were a team!

Leon: It feels like you're right... But I can't remember.

Sora: Then I guess you won't remember what you told me. In Hollow Bastion, when I sealed the Keyhole: "We may never meet again..."

Leon: (...)but we'll never forget each other.

Sora: (!) See, you do remember!

Leon: (...)

Yuffie: He's right, Leon! I remember you saying that, too.

Leon: I guess I can't write it off as a coincidence, then.

Aerith: I don't think I have any memory of it...but somehow I still remember. Maybe Sora's heart is doing the remembering for us.

Sora: How does THAT work?

Aerith: We don't know you, Sora, but your heart is full of memories of us together. Those memories must resonate in our hearts, too. Maybe they tell us things we couldn't otherwise know.

Leon: So you're saying that Sora's memories are affecting ours?

Aerith: His memories do seem to have a certain power.

Sora: (...) Maybe it's like that guy said, then. This town is just an illusion. Something my memories created.

Aerith: (...) And...there's someone special to you in this town?

Sora: (?) How did you—Ah, I get it. My memories are resonating with yours, telling you what happened. Anyway, yeah. A friend of mine is somewhere in this town—I mean, Castle Oblivion.

Yuffie: (?)

Yuffie: Castle Oblivion? What's that? There aren't any castles in Traverse Town.

Sora: That's not quite what I mean.

Aerith: Sora probably still has his own questions. Right?

Sora: Right. We just got here, after all. It wouldn't hurt to take a look around.

Leon: Then go have a walk around town. There are Heartless, but that's no problem for you.

Sora: So you know I can fight!

Leon: I can't say I remember, but I am starting to believe.

On-screen: Obtained Key to Truth.

Key to Truth room[]

Cid: (!) Well, whaddaya know. It's Sora! (?) Wait, what am I saying? I don't know you. But you do LOOK like a Sora, what with the spiky hair and baggy pants... Guess I just call 'em like I see 'em.

Sora: It's okay, Cid. That's my name.

Cid: So you've heard of me! Well, I can't say as I'm surprised.

Sora: Anyway, maybe you can help me out. A friend of mine's supposed to be somewhere in this castle—er, town.

Cid: Yer friend, huh? Lately all this town sees is Heartless. Can't even take two steps without gettin' attacked. This plaza's the worst. Word is we'll have a jumbo-sized Heartless on our hands when that bell rings. If you value your hide, you'll get out of here while the gettin's good.

Goofy: Gawrsh, maybe he's right...

Sora: Don't you want to see the Heartless?

Donald: NO, we DON'T!

Sora, Donald, & Goofy: (!)

Donald: The bell!

Goofy: Sora, look out!

(After the bossfight.)
Yuffie: So your friend wasn't here?

Sora: No, I don't think I'll find him in this town. But he's somewhere in this castle. I just know it.

Cid: Castle? Like this whole town's inside some humongous castle? Hoo, that's rich!

Leon: He's probably right, Cid. We may not understand what's going on, but Sora does. He can see that reality is bigger than just this world.

Sora: I wish I was that sure.

Leon: You'll be okay, Sora. No matter what shape reality takes, you can handle it. I may not remember you, but I know you in my heart.

Sora: Leon...

Yuffie: Take care, Sora.

Cid: I'm a little lost...but best of luck anyway.

Sora: (?) What's wrong?

Aerith: I don't have all the answers, but there's something I thought you should know. Your memories created this town, right?

Sora: That's what the guy who gave me the card said.

Aerith: If that's true, then this town is just a figment of your mind...and so are we.

Sora: (!) But...you can't be a figment! You're standing right here. The town is here, too!

Aerith: But I'm not really me. I don't remember the things I should. I sense things I shouldn't. Sora, beware your memories.

Sora: (?)

Aerith: In the journey to come, you'll be faced with more illusions. Sometimes the shadows of your memory will deceive you, try to lead you astray.

Sora: (...) So, uh...what exactly does that mean?

Aerith: I'm just another illusion, Sora. The truth is out of my reach.

Sora: Don't say stuff like that. It's depressing...

Aerith: No, Sora! You mustn't let illusions distract you from what's truly important.

Sora: Okay.

Donald: Sora!

Goofy: Are you ready to go?

Sora: Yeah, be right there.

Sora: Well, Aerith, I'd better be going.

Sora: (!) Aerith?

Donald: What about her?

Sora: She's gone! I was just talking to her, and now she's gone!

Goofy: Aerith left with Leon and the others, remember?

Sora: (!) Huh?!

Donald: You were standing her by yourself. We wondered what was going on.

Sora: (...) So this is what she meant...

First Floor exit[]

Marluxia: Well, Sora? Did you enjoy meeting your memories?

Sora: It was good to see everyone again. But why show me an illusion? What do you want from me?

Marluxia: That depends on what you have to give.

Sora: (!)

Marluxia: (!)

Axel: Boo.

Marluxia: What do you want?

Axel: I got bored, what with you hogging the hero.

Marluxia: (...) Perhaps YOU'D like to test him.

Axel: Perhaps I would.

Axel: Looks like it's my show now, Keyblade master. My name is Axel. Commit it to memory.

Sora: Um...sure.

Axel: Good, you learn quick. So, Sora, now that we're on a first-name basis...

Sora, Donald, & Goofy: (!)

Axel: ...don't go dying on me!

(After defeating him.)
On-screen: Obtained world cards.

Goofy: More cards?

Jiminy Cricket: Hmm... They look kind of like the card that made Traverse Town.

Sora: Then we need these to go on...

Axel: Correct

Sora, Donald, & Goofy: (!)

Donald: Axel!

Axel: After an introduction like that, you don't think I'd just give up the ghost?

Sora: So you were just testing our strength.

Axel: Congratulations, Sora. You passed! You're ready to take on Castle Oblivion. Follow your memories. Trust what you remember, seek what you forget... ...and you will find someone very special.

Goofy: You mean Riku and the king?

Axel: Well, I don't know. You'll just have to give some more thought to who's most important to you.

Sora, Donald, & Goofy: (?)

Axel: Our most precious memories lie deep in our hearts, out of reach. But you can find yours, Sora.

Sora: Where? How?

Axel: The light within the darkness. You've lost sight of it, Sora. You've forgotten forgetting.

Sora: Light? I don't understand...

Axel: Would you like a hint?

Sora: (...)

Goofy: Well, Sora?

Sora: No, I want to figure it out for myself. And if you get in my way—

Donald: He won't! We won't let him!

Axel: That's my kind of answer. Just what I'd expect from the Keyblade master. But be forewarned... When your sleeping memories awaken, you may no longer be you.

Sora, Donald, & Goofy: (!)

(Upon talking to Goofy.)
Goofy: Gawrsh, you think there are more where Axel and that other guy came from?

(Upon talking to Donald.)
Donald: If we face Axel again, you can leave him to me!

(Upon approaching the stairway.)
On-screen: Moving to another floor erases all the rooms you've created. If you return to this floor later, you'll need to make new rooms using new map cards.

Second Floor entrance[]

Jiminy Cricket: Hmm...

Sora: Something wrong, Jiminy?

Jiminy Cricket: What Axel said's been bothering me... What could he have meant by "you may no longer be you"?

Sora: Come on. How can I be anyone besides me?

Jiminy Cricket: I know, I know. Still, it always pays to be careful.

Goofy: Yeah, just about anything could happen here in Castle Oblibbity...uh, Oblostemy...

Donald: Oblivion!

Goofy: Right, what you said.

Sora: We'll be fine. Whatever they're cooking up, together we can handle it.

Goofy: Hey, remember that other castle we explored together? With all the contraptions?

Donald: (...)

Sora: When was that?

Donald: Contraptions? I don't remember any castle like that. What was it called?

Goofy: Gawrsh, what was it again? Holla... Holler... ... I forget. tbv

Donald: Oh, for Pete's sake!

Sora: You sure you didn't make it up?

Goofy: I don't think so...

(Upon talking to Goofy.)
Goofy: Harrow... Halo... Hmm... That's funny. Why can't I remember?

(Upon talking to Donald.)
Donald: We'll be here all week if we wait for Goofy to remember!

Wonderland[]

Goofy: (!) Hey, somebody's comin'.

White Rabbit: I'm late! I'm late! I'm dreadfully, awfully late! The queen will roast me for dinner!

Sora, Donald, & Goofy: (?)

White Rabbit: If I'm late for the trial, it'll be off with MY head next!

Sora: (!) What do you mean, "off with your head"?!

White Rabbit: Oh my fur and whiskers! I'll never make it!

Sora: Off with his HEAD?

Donald: For such a peaceful-looking place, it sounds pretty dangerous!

On-screen: Obtained Key of Beginnings.

Key of Beginnings room[]

Goofy: Gawrsh, looks like some kind of get-together. What's the occasion?

Donald: Hey, this must be that trial the White Rabbit was talking about!

White Rabbit: Alice! Do you understand the charges against you?

Alice: Of course not! I've done nothing wrong!

Queen of Hearts: Feigning ignorance, dear? You are charged with aiding the Heartless who threaten this kingdom!

Alice: Fiddlesticks! Where's the evidence?

Queen of Hearts: The evidence is... I forgot! That's the evidence! Because you, Alice, are the one who stole my memory!

White Rabbit: We can't rid the kingdom of Heartless until we get Her Majesty's memory back. This is a serious crime!

Alice: This is so unfair! So what if you're a queen! Don't blame me just because you can't remember things!

Queen of Hearts: Such insolence! You're talking to the Queen of Hearts! And I'd have let you go, had you apologized straightaway! What a brazen thief!

Sora: Who's the brazen one?

Goofy: Uh, Sora?

Queen of Hearts: The court has reached a verdict! The sentence is death!

Sora: Hold it!

Queen of Hearts: (?)

Sora: This trial is a farce! You should investigate before you arrest innocent people!

Queen of Hearts: What is the meaning of this? Are you saying Alice didn't steal my memory? I suppose you know who the real culprit is, then!

Sora: Huh? I, er...

Queen of Hearts: Speak! Or Alice's sentence will be carried out! Now, out with it! Who's the thief?

Sora: Um...uh... (...) I'm the thief!

Queen of Hearts: Say that again?

Goofy: Gawrsh, really?

Sora: Of course not! But what else am I supposed to say?

Queen of Hearts: Cards! Seize them all!

(After the fight.)
Sora: Whew...

Donald: Hey! Where's Alice?

Goofy: Looks like she escaped.

Queen of Hearts: Perhaps she did. But YOU won't!

Donald: I think we've been trumped!

Sora: Run!

On-screen: Obtained Key of Guidance.

Key of Guidance room[]

Sora: Things got a little crazy back there, but at least you're okay.

Alice: (...) I don't mean to be ungrateful, but...was that true, what you said? Are you the thief?

Sora: What? Of course not! Why would I steal the queen's memory?

Goofy: Yep, Sora only said that 'cause he wanted to save—

Donald: —to show off!

Sora: (...)

Alice: Is that right? Well, you saved me all the same. Thank you, Sora.

Everyone: (!)

Alice: Oh, look! It's the Cheshire Cat!

Cheshire Cat: Feeling better after that mad dash? You're not out of the woods yet! The queen's stickler for justice! She won't forget you till she remembers! She won't stop hounding you till you get her memory back! Did she forget because she remembers? Does she remember that she forgot? Doesn't matter, I suppose.

Sora: I don't know—I think we oughta just stay away from her.

Jiminy Cricket: That's all well and good for us, Sora, but what about Alice? If the queen catches her again, it's off with—well, you know.

Sora: (...) Then I guess we'd better do something about the queen.

Cheshire Cat: You should do something. But you don't have to do anything.

Sora: Huh?

Cheshire Cat: If you can't remember something, it's like it never happened. Likewise, if something never happened, you can't remember it. Try too hard to remember, and your memory might lie to you.

Sora: Lie?

Cheshire Cat: That's all I'll say. The rest is for you to figure out.

On-screen: Obtained Key to Truth.

Key to Truth room[]

Goofy: Gawrsh, what's with the sudden change of scenery?

Alice: Let's look around! Oh, dear!

Queen of Hearts: Thought you'd seen the last of me, did you?

Sora: Uh-oh...

Queen of Hearts: Game's up scoundrels! For stealing my memory, I sentence you to... I sentence you to...I...sentence... (?) (...) Oh? What's going on? Where am I?

Donald: Huh?

Queen of Hearts: What in the world am I doing? Confound it, I can't remember!

Sora: What's wrong with her?

Goofy: Maybe somebody swiped her memory again?

Sora, Donald, & Goofy: (!)

Alice: Sora, watch out! Something's coming!

Sora: So this is what stole the queen's memory!

(After the bossfight.)
Queen of Hearts: You there! All of you! What is the meaning of this? Where did that Heartless come from?

Sora: How would WE know?

Queen of Hearts: So, you refuse to answer? You're hiding something! They're plotting against me! Seize them immediately!

Alice: Please, Your Majesty, wait! It was you who commanded us to destroy the Heartless.

Queen of Hearts: (!)

Sora: (!) Huh?

Alice: Your Majesty, in her prudence, didn't completely trust us at first. And so, at Your Majesty's command, we fought the Heartless to prove ourselves. Isn't that right, Sora?

Sora: We did? I mean, we did! Your, uh, Majesty.

Queen of Hearts: I...told you...to do that?

Alice: But Your Majesty, don't you remember?

Queen of Hearts: Don't be ridiculous! I never forget anything! Of course I gave the command. Alice, Sora, you did splendidly.

Alice: Well, that was close.

Sora: Way to improvise! I never would've thought of that.

Alice: But the Cheshire Cat said as much. "Try too hard to remember and your memory might lie to you." The queen would never admit she forgot. So instead, she remembered something... ...that didn't happen! She ended up fooling herself.

Sora: (...)

Alice: What is it, Sora?

Sora: Hmm...it's nothing. Well, I guess you'll be safe now.

Goofy: And that queen won't give us any more trouble! After all, we got rid of the Heartless, just like she commanded!

Donald: Don't tell me you've been fooled, too!

Second Floor exit[]

Goofy: (...)

Donald: (?) What is it, Goofy?

Goofy: It's that castle I mentioned earlier. I'm sure I didn't make it up.

Sora & Donald: (...)

Goofy: That was the castle where Sora used the Keyblade to free Kairi's heart. Then he disappeared for a while, remember? I'll never forget how worried I was.

Sora: (!) Oh, yeah! When I turned into a Heartless! Wait... That happened in...a castle?

Donald: You forgot? Well, I remember it perfectly.

Sora: What was the castle called then?

Donald: Easy! It was... (...) Hey, Jiminy. You wrote down everything that happened in your journal, right?

Jiminy Cricket: Every letter! I finished off the first volume right before we got to this castle. Let's see if I can find the old book... Ah, here it is! Let's have a look... (!)

Sora, Donald, & Goofy: (?)

Jiminy Cricket: Th-This isn't possible! All the entries have vanished! Every page, blank!

Donald: What?!

Jiminy Cricket: How could this happen? I take such good care of my journals! All that hard work, gone...

Sora: What kind of castle is this...

(Upon talking to Goofy.)
Goofy: Let's help Jiminy rewrite the journal once we get out of the castle!

(Upon talking to Donald.)
Donald: I don't think Jiminy would erase his own journal.

Third Floor entrance[]

Donald: Something funny's going on... How could everything Jiminy wrote vanish like that?

Sora: Maybe it's not just stuff we write down.

Donald: (?)

Sora: Goofy said we've been to some other castle. But I don't remember it at all. None of us really do. Maybe... Maybe we don't remember because those memories are gone.

Donald: Gone? Don't be ridiculous!

Jiminy Cricket: Wait! Remember what that guy in the black hood said? "In this place, to find is to lose and to lose is to find." He was talking about memories!

Sora & Donald: (...)

Sora: So if we keep going, we'll lose our memories... No wonder they call it Castle Oblivion.

Donald: So...the higher we go, the more we forget?

Sora: (...)

Donald: What if we forget everything and can't get it back?

Sora: I'd forget Riku and Kairi, too...

Donald: Maybe we should turn back.

Goofy: Don't worry! We might forget where we've been or what we saw, but we won't forget our friends.

Donald: What makes you so sure?

Goofy: Sora, when you turned into a Heartless, did you forget about us?

Sora: (!) Of course not! I'd never forget you!

Goofy: Well, see, there ya go! No matter what happens, you won't forget your friends.

Sora: (...) Yeah... You're right. Thanks, Goofy.

Donald: I guess there's nothing to be scared of after all. So let's go!

Sora: Hey, Donald... Back when I was a Heartless, who was the one who clobbered me, hmm?

Donald: (!) THAT's what you should be forgetting!

Sora: Ha ha ha!

(Upon talking to Goofy.)
Goofy: There's no way we could ever forget our friends!

(Upon talking to Donald.)
Donald: If you're still remembering the silly stuff, we'll be fine.

Olympus Coliseum[]

Donald: (?) Look, an announcement!

Jiminy Cricket: Well, I'll be. It's for some sort of contest. They're calling it the "Olympus Coliseum Survival Cup." Contenders have to run an obstacle course, battling each other along the way. And listen to this: "The great hero Hercules will also compete for the Cup." It says here he's never been beaten.

Sora: Sounds like fun. Why don't we enter, too?

Goofy: I thought you'd say that. Whenever there's a contest, you're rarin' to join up.

Donald: You're going to compete even if we don't, right?

Sora: (...) Uh-huh.

Donald: Guess we'd better tag along, then.

Jiminy Cricket: Hold it, everyone. There's more... "Only contenders who finish the preliminary course may enter the main competition." It says the preliminary course is just ahead.

Sora: Then what are we waiting for? Let's go!

Hades: Whoa-whoa-whoa, wait just a MINUTE! What is THIS? "Hercules is a model of true strength and gallantry—the perfect hero"?! (...) Oh, he's perfect, all right. PERFECTLY INFURIATING! Just thinking about that little sunspot makes me boil! Grraah! I'd like to send him to the Underworld...permanently!

Cloud: Which is why you hired me.

Hades: That's right. You're my man...Cloud.

Hades: Your job is to beat Hercules in the games. And once you've got him cornered... ...finish the job. Do that for me, and—

Cloud: You restore my lost memories. As we agreed.

Hades: You have my word.

On-screen: Obtained Key of Beginnings.

Key of Beginnings room[]

Philoctetes: (!) Huh? Where did you come from? Don't tell me you guys finished the prelims!

Sora: We sure did. And now we want to go for the Cup!

Philoctetes: Well, you came to the right place. Not that you stand a chance against Herc.

Donald: Why not?

Philoctetes: Two words. You—ain't–heroes.

Sora: You're wrong!

Goofy: Yeah, he said three words.

Sora: Not that! I mean, how can we prove we're heroes unless you give us a chance?

Hercules: He's right Phil. They cleared the prelims. I think they deserve a shot.

Philoctetes: Hmm...you got a point there, Herc. But still—

Hercules: Of course, we could always cancel the games.

Sora: (!) Cancel them? What for?

Hercules: Old Phil's prelim course was so hard, no one else could finish it.

Sora: Is that right? Then it's settled! Let us compete, and you won't have to cancel the games! How about it, Phil?

Philoctetes: (...) Okay, you got me over a barrel, so fine. Here's how it works, kid—

Sora: It's Sora—not "kid."

Philoctetes: All right, all right. Sora, since your team and Hercules are the only contenders—

Cloud: They're not.

Everyone: (!)

Cloud: The games have a new challenger. Name's Cloud.

Philoctetes: The more the merrier! Now the games will really be something to see!

Hercules: I'm looking forward to this. Don't expect me to pull any punches!

Sora: Hey, as long as you don't expect me to take them! Let's give it our best.

Cloud: Whatever.

Philoctetes: Okay, let's get this show on the road! But first I gotta explain the rules. Rule #1! First one through the obstacle course wins! Rule #2! In the event of a tie, a battle will determine the winner! Rule #3! You can interfere with your opponents on the course! And finally...Rule #4! All challengers have to give it everything they got!

Philoctetes: All right, enough with the spiel. On your marks... Get set... GO!!

On-screen: Obtained Key of Guidance.

Key of Guidance room[]

Goofy: Gawrsh, that was nice of him to wait for us to catch up!

Donald: He's not waiting! Remember Rule #3? "You can interfere with your opponents on the course"!

Sora: He's looking to narrow the field!

Cloud: You can put that away. I'm not looking for a fight with you, so keep walking.

Sora: (!)

Goofy: See? He was waitin' for us to catch up.

Donald: Well, we've caught up. Let's take him up on his offer and keep going!

Sora: I don't see a downside...

Sora: Listen, are you sure?

Cloud: I'm not here for the Cup. Just Hercules. Today he loses more than the competition.

Sora, Donald, & Goofy: (!)

Sora: You don't mean... But why?! What did he do to you?

Cloud: This is business. Stay out of it. Go win your Cup.

Cloud: Do you realize what you're doing?

Sora: Rule #3! You can interfere with your opponents. Right? You're not the only one who wants to fight Hercules.

Cloud: Big mistake.

(After the bossfight.)
Sora: Where did Cloud go?

Jiminy Cricket: He headed for the finish line! We'd better go after him!

Sora: Right!

On-screen: Obtained Key to Truth.

Key to Truth room[]

Hercules: You lost! Give it up, Cloud!

Cloud: We're not done yet...

Hercules: I can't guarantee your safety if we keep going like this!

Cloud: Better worry about yourself. Looks to me like you're slowing down a bit.

Hercules: Ungh...

Sora: Don't worry! I'll back you up!

Hercules: Sora?

Cloud: Get all the backup you want. I'm going to finish you and get back my memories!

Sora: Your memories?

Hades: Now, now, Cloud, we don't want to spill the beans.

Hercules: Hades! You!

Hades: Looks like you oversold yourself, Cloud. All you did was wear him down. This doesn't look good for your performance rating... Let me put it this way: You, my spiky-haired friend, are fired.

Cloud: (!) But...my memories! We had a deal!

Hades: Did you really think you could get back your lost memories just like that? Get a grip!

Cloud: Why, you—

Hades: I said, you're through! This time I'll take care of Irk-ules myself!

Sora: Hey?!

Hades: Rule #5! It's never too late to enter the games.

Hercules: Hades, you were behind this from the start!

Hades: Cloud may have failed to take you out, but he did break you down. Time for Plan B. Pack your pita, Herc, 'cause you've just won a free trip to the Underworld—paid by me!

Sora: Hold it, hothead!

Hercules: Sora, no!

Sora: Come on, Herc—how can we go one-on-one if you're in the Underworld?

Hades: Good point, kid. I guess you'll just have to go with him!

Hades: Rule #6! There are no rules! Ha ha!

(After the bossfight.)
Sora: What?! The games are cancelled? How come?

Philoctetes: Three words! Everyone's pooped!

Goofy: Wait a minute, that was only two—

Sora: You gotta be kidding! What about my match with Hercules?

Hercules: I'm sorry, Sora. But you wouldn't want me to compete in this condition. Let's have a match when I'm fit again. Can you wait?

Sora: (...) Okay. I'll hold you to that.

Hercules: Then it's settled!

Jiminy Cricket: Sora, over here! He's coming around.

Sora: You okay?

Cloud: Yeah. Sorry I messed up your games.

Sora: Hey! Hope you get your memories back! Forget about what Hades said. Sometimes the tiniest thing can make you remember stuff you forgot years ago. If it's an important memory, there's no way it could ever be gone forever. That's what I think, anyway.

Cloud: (...) That's for you. For helping me out.

Sora: Sure you don't want to just come with us instead?

Cloud: Sorry. Not interested.

On-screen: Obtained Cloud.

Third Floor exit[]

Donald: I hope the king is okay...

Sora: Why bring that up all of a sudden?

Donald: I just wanted to make sure I haven't forgotten about him.

Goofy: And?

Donald: I still remember perfectly! Goofy and I are on a quest to find him.

Goofy: Yep! The king helped save the world by staying on the other side of the door to darkness.

Donald: If Goofy still remembers, then I won't forget anytime soon.

Sora: And me—I'm looking for Riku. He was with the king when the door closed. That was easy. I guess we really can't forget the most important memories.

Donald: I hope not...

(Upon talking to Goofy.)
Goofy: I bet Riku and the king are still together.

(Upon talking to Donald.)
Donald: We've got to find the king soon! That much I know I'll never forget!

(Upon entering the fourth floor.)
Larxene: Wow, Axel, you seem pretty intrigued by this Sora kid.

Axel: And you're not?

Larxene: I haven't made up my mind...but I'd like to know what's on yours.

Axel: He became a Heartless, Larxene—and you know what happens to people who do.

Larxene: People who lose their hearts also lose their minds, their feelings... They're consumed by the darkness.

Axel: Right. But that didn't happen to Sora. He held on to his feelings, even as a Heartless. Only one other man ever managed to do that.

Larxene: (...) So it's the strength of his heart that intrigues you—the heart chosen by the Keyblade.

Axel: What makes his heart shine like that? What sleeps in his most secret depths?

Larxene: The heart is a mysterious thing, Axel.

Axel: Maybe so. But unlocking its secrets is the whole reason we, the Organization, exist.

Fourth Floor entrance[]

Donald: So except for our friends, we're forgetting everything bit by bit...

Goofy: Hmm... I wonder what we just forgot.

Sora, Donald, & Goofy: (...)

Goofy: I can't think of anything. Guess I musta forgot it... But whatever it was, it must not have been that important, a-hyuck!

Sora: Right, or else you wouldn't have forgot it. See, look at this.

Donald: What's that?

Sora: It's a good luck charm Kairi gave me. It's special to her, so I promised I'd return it. I'll never forget that promise. That's why I'll never forget Kairi. (...) I wonder what she's doing now...

Sora: (!) What—

Sora: Oh...

Donald & Goofy: (?)

Sora: (...) Who...who was that?

Donald: Hello? You still with us?

Sora: (!) Huh? Oh, nothing. Never mind.

Goofy: Well, let's keep going.

(Upon talking to Goofy.)
Goofy: Kairi will be so happy if you find Riku and bring him home.

(Upon talking to Donald.)
Donald: Don't you lose that good luck charm Kairi gave you!

Agrabah[]

Goofy: (!) Look, Sora! Someone's in trouble!

Sora & Donald: (!)

Donald: We'd better do something!

Sora: Looks like you could use some help!

Aladdin: Thanks! I thought I was done for!

(After the fight.)
Everyone: (!)

Donald: They just keep coming!

Aladdin: Guess we'd better see if the legends are true. Magic lamp, my first wish! Get rid of these Heartless!

Genie: You got it! Did someone say "wish"? Then stand back, kids, genie of the lamp coming through! There ain't nothin' I can't make right as rain—well, if we HAD rain. But enough dry jokes! One Heartless disappearing act, coming right up!

Goofy: Gawrsh!

Donald: Why didn't you call him in the first place?

Aladdin: It's not that simple. You see—

Genie: I couldn't have said it better myself. But I will anyway! I'm strictly limited to three wishes per master. And no wishing for more wishes!

Sora: So you've got two wishes left? Better use them carefully.

Aladdin: I've got to get back to the palace somehow. But with all these Heartless...

Goofy: Hey, Sora. We're headed that way too, so why don't we go with Aladdin?

Sora: Sounds like a plan.

Aladdin: That would be great! Thanks a lot, guys!

On-screen: Obtained Key of Beginnings.

Key of Beginnings room[]

Goofy: So, uh, why are you going to the palace, Aladdin?

Aladdin: It's this magic lamp I found in the Cave of Wonders. I need to get it to the palace right away! I'm lucky I made it back to Agrabah in one piece! The cave was crawling with Heartless.

Sora: Wasn't there anyone else there to help you out?

Genie: I know how you feel, Master. I've been delivering happiness for 2,000 years. And what help do I get? I keep dreamin' someone will wish me outta this gig. But go figure the odds on that.

Aladdin: Well, how 'bout I use my third wish to set you free?

Everyone: (!)

Genie: Doth my pointy ears deceive me? Master, you'd do that for me? You're not just pullin' my topknot now, are you?

Aladdin: I promise, Genie. Anyway, there's only one thing I really want.

Genie: Then we'll just have to DO something about that, Al! Can I call you Al? So, what'll it be? Fame? Fortune? A herd of luxury camels to call your very own?

Aladdin: (...) Well, there's this girl. Her name is Jasmine. She's princess of Agrabah. And...that's the problem. It's hard for a guy like me to get a chance to see her. That's how this all started. Jafar, the royal vizier, said he would help me meet Jasmine.

Sora: Sounds like your wish should be that you can see Jasmine anytime you want, huh?

Genie: Well, I've got just the package for you! You'll not only meet the lady, you'll go in style... ...as PRINCE ALI! How d'ya like the sound of that, Al?

Aladdin: Me, a prince! Can you really do that?

Genie: In an Agrabah minute!

Aladdin: I guess the legends were true after all. Sora, let's hurry to the palace!

On-screen: Obtained Key of Guidance.

Key of Guidance room[]

Donald: (!) Hey! Look at that!

Aladdin: Who is that...? It's Jasmine!

Goofy: She needs our help!

Sora: We'll never make it in time!

Aladdin: Then I've no choice. Genie, I wish for you to save Jasmine!

Genie: Can do! CHAAARGE!

Aladdin: Jasmine!

Goofy: We're lucky! She fainted, but it looks like she's okay.

Sora: But now you've only got one wish left.

Everyone: (!)

Aladdin: Not again! Sorry, Genie. But you're the only one who can—

Sora: Wait! This is your last wish! Don't waste it. This time, let US handle the wish-granting!

(After the fight.)
Sora: See? We didn't need Genie this time.

Aladdin: Thanks, Sora. So I'm down to my last wish...

Everyone: (!)

Sora: What the—

Donald: Wak! What's happening?

Aladdin: Oh, no! The lamp! It's gone!

Jafar: Hmm, it seems my plans have gone amiss. I was certain you'd waste your last wish... ...what with poor Jasmine in distress and the Heartless to deal with. But no matter. At last the lamp is mine to command!

Aladdin: Why are you doing this, Jafar? I brought the lamp, just as you asked!

Jafar: Don't think you can fool me boy! You were going to use the lamp to win Jasmine! But we can't have that, now can we? You see, I am the one Jasmine will marry!

Sora: You?!

Jafar: If I marry Princess Jasmine, nothing can stop me from becoming king of Agrabah! You're nothing more than a pawn in my game, street rat! Genie! My first wish! Deliver Jasmine to me!

Aladdin: Genie! What are you doing?

Genie: Sorry, Al. My hands are tied on this one. I gotta obey whoever has his mitts on the lamp.

Jafar: Precisely. Farewell, Aladdin...you fool!

Aladdin: Great. Now I've lost Jasmine AND the lamp.

Sora: Well, you can feel bad about it some other time. If you don't pull yourself together, you'll never see Jasmine again! You lost the lamp. So what? You can still save her on your own. Losing someone you care about is bad, but not as bad as never getting them back!

Aladdin: Sora... (...) You're right. I can't give up now! I'm going to save Jasmine!

Donald: But Jafar's got the lamp. We can't just walk up to him and expect to win...

Aladdin: (...) Maybe we can. I've got an idea. Listen up!

On-screen: Obtained Key to Truth.

Key to Truth room[]

Jafar: What's this? Has Aladdin given up on his precious Jasmine already? Well, I'm not going to waste a wish on the likes of you three. I'll deal with you myself!

Sora: Aladdin! Now!

Jafar: What? You! Genie, seize him!

Aladdin runs for Jafar but Genie appears.

Genie: Al, forgive me!

Aladdin: Oof... You fell for it, Jafar!

Jafar: What do you mean?

Sora: He means that you just blew your second wish! Only one left!

Aladdin: Go ahead, use it to win Jasmine's heart. You'll still have us to deal with!

Genie: Oh, NOW I get it. Al, you are so clever!

Jafar: Well, well. The cunning of a rat. But, unfortunately, you can't see beyond the cheese. Your little ploy changes nothing! I can crush you once and for all AND make Jasmine my own! Genie! My last wish! Transform me into an all-powerful genie!

Sora: It's so hot! Jafar must be doing this..

(After the bossfight.)
Donald: That takes care of that!

Sora: Yep! Jasmine's saved and we got the lamp back, too! Hey, Aladdin, don't you still have one wish left?

Genie: He sure does. Time for me to make a prince outta this guy! 'Course, I'd like to be free. But like they always say, genies can't be choosers. You're probably miffed about that whole puppet-of-Jafar thing, anyway. Go on, Al. Wish for what's really in your heart. Be a prince. Get the girl.

Aladdin: (...) Okay, here goes. I wish for Genie's freedom!

Everyone: (!)

Genie: But Al...!

Aladdin: Now no one like Jafar can use you for evil again. Genie, you're free!

Genie: Al, I'll never forget this. But what about Jasmine? What are you gonna do?

Aladdin: I was wrong, Genie. If I used your help to win Jasmine...I'd be no better than Jafar. Jasmine means the world to me. I want to show her the real me.

Sora: That's the spirit!

Aladdin: Thanks, Sora. And good luck!

Sora: What for?

Aladdin: I was ready to give up back there, but then you said some things to keep me going. That's when it hit me. You must be looking for someone you care about, too.

Sora: Yeah...

Aladdin: Listen, Genie...

Genie: Say no more, little pal! I know JUST what you're thinking. Here you go, Sora!

Genie: Whenever you need me, just call. That okay with you, Al?

Aladdin: Of course!

Sora: Are you sure?

Genie: Anytime at all. Hey, without you guys, I might never have been able to ditch that lamp! And I think Aladdin will be fine on his own now.

Sora: Wow, thanks a lot!

Aladdin: Let's hope both our wishes come true, then. Take care, Sora!

On-screen: Obtained Genie.

Fourth Floor exit[]

Sora: (...) Who was that I remembered earlier? (...) It wasn't Kairi... Was there...someone else? (...) What was her name again? I know it, it was... It was...

Donald: Sora, snap out of it!

Sora: Wh-What?!

Donald: Get a move on! You want to find Riku and the king, don't you?

Sora: Well, yeah...

Sora: Darn! It was on the tip of my tongue...

(Upon talking to Goofy.)
Goofy: What's on your mind, Sora? It's like you're in another world.

(Upon talking to Donald.)
Donald: Snap out of it! We've gotta find the king and Riku!

Fifth Floor entrance[]

Sora: (!) I remember!

Donald & Goofy: (?)

Sora: There was another girl.

Goofy: (!) What? Where?

Sora: No, no, I mean on the islands where I used to live. Besides Kairi and Riku, there was one other girl I was friends with. The four of us used to play together all the time.

Jiminy Cricket: Well, I'll be! I think that's the first time you've ever mentioned her.

Sora: Yeah...I forgot all about her. I think she went away when I was still little.

Donald: That's strange. Why are you remembering all that now?

Sora: I'm not sure. But it's been coming back to me in places as we go through the castle.

Goofy: So what's her name?

Sora: (...) I don't remember. I feel kinda dumb. Here we are, saying we won't forget our friends...and I can't even remember her name.

Donald: Sora...

Goofy: Well, there's no rush! Let's keep going. You're bound to remember it, just like the rest!

Sora: I guess so.

(Upon talking to Goofy.)
Goofy: Something or another is bound to make you remember your friend's name.

(Upon talking to Donald.)
Donald: Another friend, huh... Why didn't you mention her before?

Monstro[]

Sora: What a weird place! Everything's kinda springy and soft.

Goofy: Nice and warm, too. I'm startin' to feel like a nap.

Pinocchio: Shouldn't you be a little more worried?

Sora, Donald, & Goofy: (!)

Donald: Who's there?

Pinocchio: Don't you get it? You're inside the belly of Monstro the Whale.

Jiminy Cricket: Why, I know that voice... Pinocchio? Pinoke, it's you! Come on out!

Pinocchio: Is that you, Jiminy? Gosh, I never though I'd meet you here.

Jiminy Cricket: You can't get away from me, son. I'm your conscience. Your conscience should guide whatever you do. Remember?

Pinocchio: Sure, Jiminy. I've been a good boy while you were gone. I didn't tell a single lie. Uh-oh!

Jiminy Cricket: Well, for Pete's sake!

Pinocchio: Oops! But...how did YOU end up inside Monstro, anyway?

Sora: We, uh, sort of used a special way...

Goofy: It's so special, we don't know how we did it!

Pinocchio: That's too bad... I was hoping you could help me and Father get out of here.

Jiminy Cricket: Well, I'll be! Geppetto's here, too?

Pinocchio: Sure. Want to see him? Follow me!

On-screen: Obtained Key of Beginnings.

Key of Beginnings room[]

Jiminy Cricket: Geppetto!

Geppetto: (!) Bless my soul, it's Jiminy Cricket. How in the world did you get here?

Jiminy Cricket: You tell me! How does a clockmaker wind up in the belly of a whale?

Geppetto: Well, it's a long story...

Donald: So you sailed out to look for Pinocchio...

Goofy: (...)and Monstro swallowed you!

Geppetto: Well, it was worth it, because I found my son.

Sora: But now you can't get out, can you? It must be awful being stuck inside Monstro.

Geppetto: Not if Pinocchio and I are together. I couldn't live without him. There's nothing better than being reunited with someone you care about.

Sora: I feel the same way, Geppetto.

Geppetto: I don't care if I'm trapped here, so long as I have Pinocchio. He's such a good boy.

Jiminy Cricket: Well, he still tells fibs. But with a little help from me...

Geppetto: Oh, Jiminy, you worry too much.

Sora: (!) Speaking of Pinocchio... Where is he?

Donald: He was here a minute ago. Where's he gone this time?

Geppetto: I expect he's off exploring. That boy has been poking around just about every square inch of Monstro. He won't tell me why it's so important. I tell him it's dangerous, but he won't listen.

Jiminy Cricket: That puppet's a handful! Sora, if you don't mind...

Sora: I know, I know. You want us to help you find him, right? C'mon guys, let's get going!

On-screen: Obtained Key of Guidance.

Key of Guidance room[]

Pinocchio: (?) (?) (!) Oh!

Jiminy Cricket: Pinocchio, you naughty boy! You know Geppetto worries when you wander off by yourself.

Donald: Jiminy was worried, too!

Pinocchio: I'm sorry...

Sora: What are you doing, anyway? Looking for something?

Pinocchio: Um...yeah, I'm looking for treasure!

Jiminy Cricket: Here we go again!

Pinocchio: But, Jiminy...

Goofy: Now, don't be so hard on the little fella, Jiminy. We promise not to get mad, Pinocchio. Is that why you're afraid to tell? No need to fret. Tell us the truth—we'll understand. Put yer trust in Goofy!

Pinocchio: (...) I was looking for a way out. Father says he's happy, but it's my fault we're stuck here. I shouldn't have run away from home. I want to help Father get home to the workshop. But he'll worry if I tell him what I'm doing.

Jiminy Cricket: I get it. So that's why you had to lie.

Goofy: You did it 'cause you love your dad!

Donald: All you need now is courage!

Pinocchio: What?

Donald: Tell Geppetto the truth. With a little courage, you can do it! If you tell him how you really fell, I bet he'll help you find a way out.

Sora: And we'll give you a hand!

Pinocchio: Really? You'll help us? Okay, I'll give it a try! Wish me luck, Jiminy!

Jiminy Cricket: No more keeping secrets, then. Have we got a deal?

Pinocchio: Sure! I'll be brave and tell Father how I really feel. No lies this time!

Jiminy Cricket: Great! Then your nose won't—

Everyone: (!)

Sora: What's happening?!

Donald: I got a bad feeling about this!

Jiminy Cricket: Pinocchio, run for it!

Sora: Pinocchio, where are you?

Pinocchio: Help! I'm trapped!

Sora: (!) What?!

(After the bossfight.)
Pinocchio: Help me! I'm scared!

Sora: Pinocchio, be brave!

Pinocchio: How?

Sora: Don't give up! Try fighting your way out!

Pinocchio: Be brave... Okay, I'll try!

Jiminy Cricket: Pinocchio, are you all right?

Pinocchio: Don't worry, I'm okay. Just a little sticky... But I have a great idea! The Heartless spit me out when I started struggling. Why don't we try the same thing with Monstro?

Sora: Of course! If we're lucky, Monstro might cough us up!

Donald: Great idea! Let's go deeper inside and try it!

Pinocchio: I'm going, too!

Jiminy Cricket: No, it's too dangerous.

Pinocchio: Aw, c'mon...

Jiminy Cricket: You should be with Geppetto. No use escaping from Monstro if you two get separated again!

Sora: Leave this to us.

Pinocchio: I guess you're right. Be careful, everybody!

On-screen: Obtained Key to Truth.

Key to Truth room[]

Goofy: Looks like this is as far as we go.

Sora: Ready, then? Let's shake things up!

Donald: It would be easier if we had someone to fight...

Sora: Perfect timing. Looks like we've got company!

Donald & Goofy: (!)

(Upon killing all the Shadows without achieving the objective.)
Donald: All right, Monstro! Cough us up this instant!

Sora, Donald, & Goofy: (...)

Goofy: It didn't work...

Sora: Maybe we did it wrong?

Jiminy Cricket: We'll just have to put up a better fight. It might work better if we defeat the Heartless in rapid succession.

Goofy: Wanna give it another go?

On-screen:

Yes
No

(Upon returning after selecting 'No'.)
Sora: You guys ready? This time we'll get it right!

(Upon achieving the objective.)
Sora: Whew...

Sora, Donald, & Goofy: (!)

Goofy: What now?

Jiminy Cricket: It's working! Monstro's gonna sneeze!

Sora: Oww... Now I know what getting shot out of a cannon feels like.

Goofy: Where's Pinocchio and his dad?

Jiminy Cricket: They're gone. They must've gotten out safely.

Sora: Without you, Jiminy? I thought there was no escaping your conscience!

Jiminy Cricket: I don't mind being left behind, as long as they're both safe. Maybe Pinocchio doesn't need me after all.

Sora: What do you mean?

Jiminy Cricket: That little puppet used to have trouble telling right from wrong. But he's come a long way. Maybe he doesn't need Jiminy Cricket anymore. Maybe he's better off without me nagging him all the time...

Sora: Don't you remember what Geppetto said? "There's nothing better than being reunited with someone you care about." I bet Pinocchio's counting the days till he can see you again.

Jiminy Cricket: Well, what do you know... You might be right.

Fifth Floor exit[]

Donald: Hey, Sora! Did you remember anything else about that girl?

Sora: Yeah, bits and pieces.

Goofy: Tell us about her! Talking about it might help you remember.

Sora: Okay. Um... (...) She was quiet...and almost always drawing pictures. While we were all swimming at the beach, she'd draw a picture of it instead. Sometimes she drew us, too! She was really good at it. I think sometimes Riku and I would fight over who would get his picture drawn next. (...) But one day, she was gone. Just like that. I think our parents knew the reason. They might've even tried to explain it to me. But I was little. I probably didn't understand what was happening. I remember crying a little after she was gone. But that's it. I still can't remember her name. (...)

Donald: Still, up until now you didn't remember any of that! At this rate, you'll think of her name in no time!

Jiminy Cricket: Anyone notice something odd? Sora's remembering things, instead of forgetting them. Hmm... Maybe forgetting things is the only way to reach the memories buried deeper down.

Goofy: You mean you have to forget to remember?

Sora: So it's like those black-robed guys said. "Our most precious memories lie deep in our hearts, out of reach." And all that stuff about finding being losing and losing being finding... I didn't get it at first, but maybe this is what they were talking about.

Donald: Aww, that's no fair! Why aren't the rest of us remembering anything yet? Come on, Goofy! We're not forgetting fast enough! Let's move!

(Upon talking to Goofy.)
Goofy: See how much you remember! It can't be long before her name comes back to you, too.

(Upon talking to Donald.)
Donald: Aww, I wish I had lots of buried memories to remember.

(Upon entering the sixth floor.)
Larxene: It looks like Sora's memories have taken root, just as we planned.

Axel: Let's see how far our boy will go, then. Think it's time for another round?

Larxene: Only if it's my turn to play. You had your fun on the first floor.

Axel: (...) Remember, Larxene. Our job is to deliver him in one piece.

Larxene: Fine. But who says I can't have my way with him first?

Axel: Don't break him.

Larxene: Do I detect a soft spot?

Axel: He's partly one of us.

Larxene: I'm not going to break the toy, Axel—just play with it. I'm not dumb.

Axel: Then you won't mind the warning. Remember, Sora is the key. We need him if we're going to take the Organization.

Larxene: (...) So you're in on it, too? Well, keep it under your hood until the time is right.

Axel: (...) You would have been wise to do the same, Larxene.

Sixth Floor entrance[]

Goofy: So, Sora... Have you remembered your friend's name yet?

Sora: Nope. For whatever reason, her name's the only thing that isn't coming back.

Donald: That must be driving you crazy. You have the memories, but no name to go with them.

Sora: Heh...yeah.

(Upon talking to Goofy.)
Goofy: Don't you just hate it when something's on the tip of your tongue?

(Upon talking to Donald.)
Donald: If you ask me, you're THIS close to remembering your friend's name.

Halloween Town[]

Goofy: Gawrsh! Don't like the looks of this place. I bet it's crawlin' with ghosts!

Donald: Well, then. What's there to worry about? You won't be spooked if you already know what's coming!

Goofy: You really think so?

Donald: Trust me!

Jack Skellington: Welcome to Halloween Town!

Sora, Donald, & Goofy: (!)

Sora, Donald, & Goofy: (!)

Donald: Wak! A ghost!

Jack Skellington: Wow, that was the best shriek I've heard in ages! If you're THAT easy to scare, I'm gonna have a great time! Sorry, I haven't even introduced myself. I'm Jack Skellington! Halloween Town is my town. I'm the king of nightmares and the master of terror! If you want chills and horror, you've come to the right place!

Donald: Well, we don't!

Jack Skellington: At the moment, we've got a little problem in Halloween Town.

Sora: What kind of problem?

Jack Skellington: Well...a problem like this!

Sora, Donald, & Goofy: (!)

Sora: Gyaaa!

(After the fight.)
Donald: What's the big idea! Why'd you go and call the Heartless?

Jack Skellington: I didn't call them. In fact, I'd love to get rid of them. The Heartless go around attacking people, instead of just scaring them.

Sora: Why are they here?

Jack Skellington: I was just going to go ask Dr. Finkelstein the same question. I'm heading to his laboratory right now. Follow me!

Jiminy Cricket: Sora, what should we do?

Sora: I guess we'd better go.

Donald: I don't like this. What if he's leading us right to the Heartless?

Jack Skellington: Bingo! You saw right through me!

Donald: Wak!

Jack Skellington: Ha ha ha, just a joke! Now let's get going!

On-screen: Learned Terror!

On-screen: Obtained Key of Beginnings.

Key of Beginnings room[]

Jack Skellington: Allow me to introduce Dr. Finkelstein, the world-famous genius!

Dr. Finkelstein: Yes! Maybe I'm TOO smart. I'm afraid I've created something horrible!

Goofy: Gawrsh! What's that?

Dr. Finkelstein: Well... Have you ever stopped to think about "true memories"?

Sora: True memories?

Dr. Finkelstein: Our hearts are full of memories—but not all of them reflect the truth. The heart isn't a recording device. Even important memories change with time. They warp or fade, leaving us with but a shadow of what we hoped to remember.

Sora: Could that be happening to me?

Dr. Finkelstein: It happens to everyone. Some memories grow ugly, and some become more beautiful. If we could recover our true memories, the world would seem completely different. So, I devised a potion from forget-me-nots that brings our true memories back.

Sora: Did it work?

Dr. Finkelstein: Well, that's the problem...

Jack Skellington: As soon as the doctor got a whiff of the potion, Heartless started popping up!

Donald: Sounds to me like the experiment failed.

Dr. Finkelstein: No! My research is flawless! I just need another look at the potion to find out what went wrong! Unfortunately...it's vanished.

Sora: Maybe someone swiped it?

Dr. Finkelstein: It must've been Sally! Jack, you've got to find her and get my potion back.

Jack Skellington: Leave it to me!

Sora: Can I tag along?

Jack Skellington: What for?

Sora: I want to know more about these "true memories" the doctor keeps mentioning.

Jack Skellington: Excellent! Let's go find Sally, then!

On-screen: Obtained Key of Guidance.

Key of Guidance room[]

Jack Skellington: There you are Sally! I thought I'd find you here.

Sally: Who are your friends?

Jack Skellington: They're interested in true memories. You have the potion don't you?

Sally: Well...yes.

Sora: Could you give it back?

Sally: I guess so, if you insist. But...I'm afraid. All the Doctor did was smell it, and the Heartlesss appeared. What if someone drinks it?

Jack Skellington: Are you kidding? What could be more exciting?

Sally: I'm worried, Jack. Isn't there another way?

Sora: Any ideas, Jack?

Jack Skellington: I can't think of a thing.

Oogie Boogie: I can! Give it here!

Everyone: (!)

Sally: (!) Oh, no! The potion!

Jack Skellington: Oogie! You again!

Oogie Boogie: Jack, where are your manners? I'm just helping you put the potion to good use! You should thank me! Well, well. Just one sniff, and the Heartless appeared. What would happen if I chugged the whole thing? THAT would be scary! Poor Jack! You can't hold a candle to Oogie Boogie. Halloween Town is going to taste pain and despair beyond any nightmare!

Jack Skellington: Pain and despair? Oogie, you monster!

Sora: C'mon, Jack! We've gotta go after him!

On-screen: Obtained Key to Truth.

Key to Truth room[]

Jack Skellington: Oogie! Hand over the potion!

Oogie Boogie: You fools don't know when to quit! Say...all this runnin' around is making me thirsty!

Sora: Oogie! No!

Oogie Boogie: Yes!

Sora: Oh, no...

Oogie Boogie: Ahh! Lip-smacking good! Now I can awaken my true memories! Agh! What's this? What... Something's welling up deep inside me—something...scary!

Jack Skellington: Oogie! What's going on?

Oogie Boogie: No! Get back! Stay away from me!

Oogie Boogie: Get away! You're s-s-scaring me!

(After the bossfight.)
Dr. Finkelstein: Confound that Oogie Boogie! He drank nearly all of my precious potion! There are only a few drops left!

Goofy: Sora, why don't you ask the doc if you can drink the rest?

Sora: (...) No. I'd better not.

Dr. Finkelstein: What, don't you want it? Too bad. It would've been a great experiment.

Sally: Now, Doctor...

Jack Skellington: Don't you want to find out about your true memories?

Sora: Of course—now more than ever. But there's this guy—Axel. I promised him I'd find the truth on my own.

Dr. Finkelstein: I just don't understand. When I inhaled the potion, Heartless appeared... ...and when Oogie drank it, he was overcome with fear. What could it mean?

Sally: It means the potion was a failure.

Dr. Finkelstein: No! I can't be wrong! Oogie MUST have found his true memories! Hm... True memories must unbalance the heart and cause unpredictable changes within!

Sora: Then...what about me? What happens when my true memories awaken?

Dr. Finkelstein: Perhaps something even more terrifying... But this is all just a hypothesis. I can't be sure without further research.

Sora: (...)

Jack Skellington: What's wrong, Sora? Does the doctor's theory scare you?

Sora: Well, yeah—a little.

Jack Skellington: That's good to hear!

Sora: (?)

Jack Skellington: Fear and insecurity are signs of a strong heart. Without that strength, your zest for life would fade...as would your taste for fear. And believe me, that would really ruin my fun.

Sora: Thanks, Jack. I'll remember that.

Jack Skellington: Then good luck, gentlemen! May you always enjoy being frightened!

Sixth Floor exit[]

Sora, Donald, & Goofy: (!)

Donald: You're with Axel, aren't you!

Larxene: Ooh, aren't you clever. The name's Larxene. Are you enjoying your stay in Castle Oblivion? I bet it's nice to peel all the worthless memories away... ...and awaken the true memories that lie deep in your heart.

Sora: True memories?

Larxene: But you're still forgetting something, aren't you, Sora? The most important thing. When that poor girl hears you've forgotten her name, she'll be heartbroken.

Sora: (!) You know her?! Is she...here?

Larxene: (...) U-huuuuh. The bad guys are holding her deep within the castle. And you, the hero, have to go save her. Sadly, there's a catch...

Sora, Donald, & Goofy: (!)

Donald, & Goofy: (!)

Larxene: I'M a bad guy, so you have to go through me!

Sora: Uhhh...

Goofy: Sora!

Sora: What's...that? Is that mine?

Larxene: Tsk, tsk. You've been wearing it all this time, and you forgot? No, you couldn't have. The memory is engraved in your heart.

Sora: (...)

Larxene: Now think, Sora. What oh what could it be? Who gave it to you?

Sora: Na... Na...mi...?

Larxene: That's right! Free the memory from your heart!

Sora: Nami... Naminé.

Larxene: Well, it's about time. That's right...Naminé. She's the one that gave you the cheesy good luck charm. Not that you remembered.

Larxene: No surprise, seeing as you forgot her NAME. Talk about heartless! It'd serve you right if I smashed this piece of junk!

Sora: Don't you touch it! Naminé gave me this. It's precious to me!

Larxene: Precious? Spare me! Ten seconds ago you didn't even know what it was!

(After the bossfight.)
Larxene: Hey, you're not half bad. Guess you really are a hero. A heartless hero!

Sora: Who asked you?!

Larxene: Does it hurt 'cause it's true? Grow up, Sora. If you're going to be a baby, then here—play with these. They're more cards made from your memories. Say "thank you" like a good boy. Ta-ta!

Sora: (!) Wait, Larxene! Where are you? Don't you dare hide from me! Show yourself!

Jiminy Cricket: Sora, calm down! She's not coming back.

Goofy: Sora?

Sora: I hate her. It's not fair that she's the one who made me remember... Naminé is too special for that.

On-screen: Obtained world cards.

(Upon talking to Goofy.)
Goofy: Naminé... So that's her name. Aren't you glad you finally remembered?

(Upon talking to Donald.)
Donald: Who cares what the bad guys say, anyway?

(Upon entering the seventh floor.)
Larxene: Whew... Throwing the battle back there really wore me out.

Axel: Throwing the battle? Looks to me like you plain old lost the battle.

Larxene: (!) H-How dare you! You just don't appreciate the finer nuances of—

Vexen: Axel is right. That was an ungainly performance, Larxene.

Larxene: (!) Vexen!

Vexen: Humbled by someone of such limited significance. You shame yourself and the Organization.

Larxene: Grr...

Axel: Can we help you, Vexen? It's not very often we see you topside.

Vexen: I came to lend a hand. I remain unconvinced of any potential in this "hero" you've been coddling. Perhaps an experiment would put my doubts to rest.

Larxene: I knew this would happen. Everything's an experiment with you.

Vexen: I'm a scientist. Experimentation is what I do.

Axel: Whatever, Vexen. Do what you want. But cut the act. Testing Sora is just an excuse to test your little follower.

Vexen: Follower? I'll have you know he's the product of much research.

Larxene: What he is is a toy.

Vexen: Hmph. I see I'm wasting my time.

Axel: (...) Have your fun. But take this with you. A wild card to keep the game fresh. Now don't tell me I don't respect my elders.

Vexen: I dare say I won't.

Seventh Floor entrance[]

Donald: Sora, slow down!

Sora: We don't have time! They've got Naminé. We have to rescue her!

Goofy: Huff, huff... Sora sure seems worked up.

Donald: Can you blame him? After all this time, he finally remembers Naminé... only to find out she's being held prisoner!

Goofy: Good point, Donald. If we heard the king was in danger, we'd be upset, too.

(Upon talking to Goofy.)
Goofy: Any friend of yours is a friend of ours. Let's go help Naminé!

(Upon talking to Donald.)
Donald: Come on, Sora! We gotta rescue Naminé from the bad guys!

100th Acre Woods[]

Sora: (!)

Sora: What's wrong, little fella?

Winnie the Pooh: I'm looking for my friends.

Sora: Are they around here? It looks like nobody's here.

Winnie the Pooh: So I guess I'm looking for nobody.

Sora: Hmm? You're looking for nobody?

Winnie the Pooh: Yes. I keep looking, but I'm getting nowhere. All this searching is making me hungry. I wonder if there's a bit of honey around here. But if I start eating. I'll have to stop searching...

Sora: Why don't we look for your friends together?

Winnie the Pooh: You mean, look for nobody?

Sora: No, for your friends. They might be around here. Let's find them together.

Winnie the Pooh: Are you looking for my friends too?

Sora: No, but I'm looking for some friends of my own.

Winnie the Pooh: Are they Pooh's friends? Now, just a minute... I'm Pooh, not you.

Sora: That's right. I'm Sora! My friends are different from your friends. But I know what it's like to miss your friends. So why don't we look for them together?

Winnie the Pooh: That sounds perfect.

On-screen: Help Pooh find his friends as you lead him to the finish line! R Button: Call Pooh The honey displayed at the top right of the screen is the source of Pooh's energy. Pooh will doze off for a while if he runs out of honey.

(Upon returning through the entrance.)
Winnie the Pooh: Come along and help me find my friends.

(Upon talking to Rabbit.)
Rabbit: Carrots, cabbages, onions... All my vegetables must be sorted just so.

(Upon reuniting Pooh with Piglet.)
Piglet: Ooooh! Oh no, oh no, oh no... I-I-I'm nobody. You needn't pay me any mind!

Sora: You're not Pooh's friend?

Piglet: N-N-N-No! Um, oh, no, I mean, I'm not NOT Pooh's friend... I'm... I'm...

Winnie the Pooh: (!) Why, hello there, Piglet.

Piglet: Oh! It's you, Pooh! I'm so relieved... I finally found someone! I got separated from the others. I was so worried, I didn't know what to do.

Sora: That explains why you were so fidgety.

Winnie the Pooh: Piglet, why don't you come with us to look for the rest of our friends?

Piglet: What? Oh my, I don't know... Hm... What should I do...

Sora: Guess he doesn't want to come. Let's go, Pooh.

Piglet: Oh! Wait!

Winnie the Pooh: Did you make up your mind?

Piglet: Well, no, I'm still thinking. But I found something strange in the bushes. I wouldn't know what to do with it. You can have it.

On-screen: Learned Confuse!

(Upon talking to Piglet.)
Piglet: I just can't seem to make up my mind. Whatever should I do?

(Upon reuniting Pooh with Owl.)
Owl: Are you all right, Pooh?

Winnie the Pooh: I had a wonderful time, Owl. I could do that all day.

Sora: Maybe you should use a balloon to look for your friends.

Owl: You might think so, young man. But the problems start when you find them. Once you find your friends, how do you get down to them? A balloon goes where the wind blows. You've no control over where you go. What if you saw your friends, but the wind kept them just out of reach? I think I'd rather keep looking for my friends, than find them and not be able to reach them.

Sora: You've got a point.

Owl: If you want to find someone, you'd best do it on foot. It can be quite exciting to stumble across a friend where you least expect them!

Winnie the Pooh: Well, that's certainly how I feel when I stumble across some honey!

Owl: That's the spirit, Pooh! The trick is to keep moving and keep looking.

Winnie the Pooh: All right, Owl, that's what I'll do. I can't wait to find that honey...

Owl: (...)

Sora': Don't worry, I'll help Pooh find his friends.

Owl: Splendid! Here's something to speed you on your way.

On-screen: Obtained Spellbinder.

(Upon reuniting Pooh with Roo.)
Winnie the Pooh: Well, if it isn't you, Roo! What were you doing in that hole?

Roo: I was so busy looking for Tigger, I fell right in!

Winnie the Pooh: Then why didn't you jump right out again?

Roo: I was waiting for Tigger to come along! Then when Tigger fell in the hole, why there I'd be! He'd be so surprised! Doesn't it sound fun?

Sora: But what if he doesn't fall in?

Winnie the Pooh: I think Tigger would bounce right over the hole.

Roo: (...) To tell the truth, I was getting a little lonely and tired of waiting for him to fall in.

Sora: Instead of waiting, why don't you see if you can find him?

Roo: You're right! That's a great idea!

Roo: By the way, I found this in the hole. Why don't you take it?

On-screen: Obtained Elixir.

(Upon talking to Eeyore.)
Eeyore: I can't do without my tail...

(Upon reuniting Pooh with Eeyore.)
Winnie the Pooh: Oh, my poor head...

Eeyore: Well, much obliged, Pooh.

Winnie the Pooh: Much obliged to you too, Eeyore. But what for?

Eeyore: For running into that tree and getting my tail back for me.

Winnie the Pooh: Why, I was just trying to get away from those honey bees. All I wanted was a tiny taste of honey...

Eeyore: Oh, is that so? Well, you helped me anyhow.

Sora: I though there was honey in that tree too. I never guessed we'd find your tail.

Eeyore: Oh, just an accident. Of course. No one would help me on purpose. But I'm still obliged. Thank you, Pooh and Sora.

Winnie the Pooh: You're welcome, Eeyore.

Eeyore: Here's something for you.

Sora: Hey, it's okay, Eeyore. It was just an accident.

Eeyore: I know, but this fell down along with my tail. It's my accidental thank you.

On-screen: Learned Bind!

(Upon talking to Eeyore.)
Eeyore: Thanks for accidentally helping me, Sora. You too, Pooh.

(Upon talking to Roo.)
Roo: It's no use just jumpin'. You have to do it right!

(Upon reuniting Pooh with Tigger.)
Tigger: So, you feel like some bouncin' with Tigger, eh?

Winnie the Pooh: Did you see me jump? Sora showed me how.

Tigger: You got the idea, kiddo! But you're still not doin' it right!

Sora: What do you mean?

Tigger: Just imitating Tigger's no good, no matter how much you like my bouncin'! You gotta try all kinds of bouncin'! Make up your own style! I'm Tigger, and you're you! That's why it's fun!

Sora: We wanted you to notice. That's why Pooh was imitating you.

Tigger: Now I see! If you wanna see Tigger bounce, just say the word! Here I go!

Tigger: How'm I doin'?

Sora: Ha ha... Nobody bounces better!

Tigger: But don't just do what I do! You gotta bounce your own way if you wanna be a bouncer like Tigger! Hoo hoo hoo!

Winnie the Pooh: Why, look Sora. Tigger dropped something...

On-screen: Learned Idyll Romp!

(Upon reuniting Pooh with Rabbit by hitting enough cabbages.)
Sora: That was close! Are you okay, Pooh?

Winnie the Pooh: Yes...I seem to be.

Sora: Where did all those cabbages come from?

Rabbit: Yoo-hoo!

Winnie the Pooh: Hello, Rabbit. What's all the fuss?

Rabbit: Did you see my cabbages come rolling past?

Sora: You mean THOSE cabbages?

Rabbit: (!) My goodness! There they are, all nicely stacked! How kind of you. Carrying them is so troublesome, I thought I'd try rolling them! But it didn't work very well.

Winnie the Pooh: So that's why those cabbages came chasing after us. It gave us quite a turn.

Sora: We almost got bowled over, you know.

Rabbit: I'm very sorry... I was going to carry them in my cart, but someone broke it!

Sora: (!)

Rabbit: It's quite annoying! I wonder who it was?

Winnie the Pooh: Well, Rabbit, Sora and I—

Sora: Whoa, whoa! Umm...Pooh, we'd better get going! We're in a hurry, right?

Rabbit: (?)

Winnie the Pooh: Yes, I suppose you're right. Goodbye, Rabbit.

Rabbit: Just a moment! I must repay you for stacking my cabbages. Thank you very much. I don't know how I would've managed without you.

Sora: Ha ha ha... Maybe you would've managed BETTER without us...

Rabbit: Now, what do you mean by that?

Sora: N-Nothing!

On-screen: Learned Synchro!

(Upon talking to Rabbit.)
Rabbit: That's odd. These cabbages look as if they've been batted about...

(Upon leaving without Pooh closeby.)
Sora: I'd like to stay, Pooh. But I've got to go. Take care!

(Upon leaving with Pooh closeby.)
Sora: I guess we can't go any farther. So what do you think, Pooh? Wasn't it more fun looking for friends together?

Winnie the Pooh: Yes...you were right, Sora. I'd like you to have this, with my thanks. Whew...I've walked so far, I think I need a little rest. If only I had a nice pot of honey to keep me company...

Sora: (...) Well, I'd better be going.

Winnie the Pooh: Where are you going?

Sora: I've gotta keep looking for my friends.

On-screen: Obtained Bambi.

(Upon leaving with Pooh closeby on a return visit.)
Winnie the Pooh: I've been walking so long, my tumbly is getting rather rumbly. If only I had a little honey...

Sora: Well, I'd better be going. I gotta keep looking for my friends.

Winnie the Pooh: Then I'd better help you look for them, too.

Sora: That's okay, Pooh. You should stay here, in the Hundred Acre Wood.

Winnie the Pooh: You mean...this is goodbye?

Sora: No way! I'll always know where to find you. (!) If I don't forget...

Winnie the Pooh: Don't worry, Sora. You can count on me. Even if you forget Pooh, I won't forget you.

Sora: Thanks, Pooh.

Seventh Floor exit[]

Sora: (!) You, you're... Riku?!

Sora: What are YOU doing here?

Riku Replica: (...) Don't sound so happy to see me, Sora. Let me know if I'm getting in the way of something more important.

Sora: No, of course not! I only meant—

Riku Replica: Spare me. I bet you'd all but forgotten about me.

Sora: Are you crazy? I came all this way because I was LOOKING for YOU!

Riku Replica: But not anymore, right? Now it's Naminé this, Naminé that. You don't care about me any more than you care about how Naminé feels.

Sora: What's that supposed to mean?

Riku Replica: Never even gave it a thought, did you? Just 'cause you want to see Naminé doesn't mean it goes both ways.

Sora: Very funny!

Riku Replica: Who's joking? Naminé doesn't even want to look at you.

Sora: Why not?!

Riku Replica: Ask your memories. If you bothered to remember why Naminé left the islands...

Sora: Why? Did I do something? Is it my fault? Riku...

Riku Replica: Go home, Sora. I can take care of Naminé. Anyone who goes near her... (taking on his dark powers) ...goes through me!

Sora: What's your problem! We finally find each other and you do this!

Riku Replica: Since when have you cared about me? Naminé's not the only one who's sick of you.

Sora: Riku, no!

(After the bossfight.)
Riku Replica: (...)

Sora: Riku, come on! Wait!

(Upon talking to Goofy.)
Goofy: Gawrsh, what coulda happened to make Riku talk like that?

(Upon talking to Donald.)
Donald: We'd better go after Riku!

Eight Floor entrance[]

Sora: Riku! Where are you? (...)

Goofy: Sora, are you okay?

Sora: Forget about me. What's happened to Riku?

Jiminy Cricket: He sure was acting strange. It's almost as if the Heartless were controlling him again.

Sora: No way! Ansem got to him once, but Ansem's history. We saw to that.

Goofy: I wonder what's wrong with him, then...

Donald: Hold on... Isn't the king supposed to be with Riku? If something's happened to Riku, then the king might be in danger! We gotta help him!

Sora: Yeah... (...)

Donald: Sora...

Jiminy Cricket: Hey, Riku is still your friend, and that's no mistake.

Sora: You sure?

Jiminy Cricket: I know he said some awful things to you back there. But don't forget—we're in Castle Oblivion. People lose their memory here a little bit at a time. Riku's probably forgotten that he and you were friends. That's all.

Sora: So it's not that he doesn't like me—he just forgot?

Jiminy Cricket: That'd be my guess. So instead of being sad, let's figure out a way to make Riku remember. It's not like you to mope. Let's work together and get through this.

Goofy: Jiminy's right. Don't push your friends away.

Sora: (...) Yeah...okay.

Donald: No, no, NO! That's not what the Keyblade master should sound like!

Sora: Huh? Okay, how's this, then...

Sora: I'll save Naminé, Riku, AND the king...and I'll do it blindfolded!

Jiminy Cricket: That's it, that's the spirit!

Sora: Heartless? Hah!! Forces of evil, do your worst!

Jiminy Cricket: Good, good! Now you're sounding heroic!

Donald: Boy, he sure knows how to get carried away...

Goofy: Yep, that's our Sora!

(Upon talking to Goofy.)
Goofy: It sure is nice to have the happy Sora back.

(Upon talking to Donald.)
Donald: Try not to get TOO carried away, Sora!

Atlantica[]

Goofy: Gawrsh! This looks like the bottom of the sea.

Sora: It sure does. So how come we can breathe?

Goofy: Hmm...beats me! Maybe someone cast a spell on us?

Sora: It's just like breathing air!

Donald: But it's not air. See? Someone's swimming this way!

Ariel: (!) If anyone asks, you didn't see me!

Donald: What?

Ariel: Sorry, I don't have time to explain. Just promise you won't tell! (!)

Goofy: Hey, what's that sparkling thingy you got there?

Ariel: Oh, nothing—nothing at all! Remember, you didn't see me!

Sora: She was hiding something.

Donald: I wonder what it was?

On-screen: Obtained Key of Beginnings.

Key of Beginnings room[]

Sebastian: Oh, woe is me...

Sora: Is something wrong?

Sebastian: Everything's wrong! Someone stole the king's magic trident. Atlantica is defenseless! And to top it off, Princess Ariel has disappeared! King Triton's worried sick. He won't leave his chambers.

Sora: Ariel? She disappeared?

Sebastian: Ariel's friend Flounder would know where she is, but now he's gone, too.

Sora: Wait a sec...Didn't we just see Ariel?

Goofy: Yep. But she didn't look real happy to see US! Hey, wasn't she carrying something when we saw her?

Sora: (!) You don't think that was the trident?

Jiminy Cricket: You know, maybe it was.

Donald: But that means Ariel stole it!

Jiminy Cricket: There must be some explanation.

Sebastian: Oh, Ariel! Where have you run off to this time? If anything happens to you... It's all my fault! Sebastian, you are the world's worst guardian! What if she ran away because of my nagging? King Triton will banish be forever!

Sora, Donald, & Goofy: (...)

Sora: He'll pop his shell if we tell him Ariel took the trident.

Goofy: Guess we'll have to get to the bottom of this ourselves!

On-screen: Obtained Key of Guidance.

Key of Guidance room[]

Sora: There she is!

Ariel: This is all my fault. I wish I'd never taken Daddy's trident. I should've known things would turn out this way.

Donald: She DID steal it!

Goofy: Pipe down! Somebody's comin'!

Ursula: No need to worry, child. You did the right thing.

Ariel: (!)

Ursula: Why, I'm sure you'd do anything in the world to help your little friend. Poor Flounder has been swept away to the human world. That's no place for a little fish. Why, if we don't hurry, you might not have a friend to save...

Ariel: No!

Ursula: Besides, you're not GIVING me the trident, dear—just letting me borrow it for a bit. You can save Flounder! Lend me the trident, and I'll help you!

Ariel: But...Daddy needs the trident to defend Atlantica. I need time to think, Ursula.

Ursula: (...) Well, it's all the same to me. Just remember, your little friend is dodging fishhooks while you twiddle your fins. Well, you can come see me once you've made up your mind.

Ariel: (...) What am I going to do?

Sora: Don't trust Ursula, that's for sure.

Ariel: (!) How long have you been listening?

Sora: Oh, long enough.

Donald: It doesn't matter. Sora's right! Don't rust that sea witch! Ursula's up to no good. It's written all over her face.

Ariel: Then we all agree! The problem is, I don't have a clue where Flounder is. Ursula's the only one who can help.

Sora: What about us?

Ariel: (?)

Sora: Let's go talk to Ursula. You shouldn't have to do this by yourself.

Ariel: Really? You'll come with me?

Sora: You bet! I know how it feels to have friends in trouble. Let's get going!

On-screen: Obtained Key to Truth.

Key to Truth room[]

Ursula: My, so many guests! Have you made up your mind, my dear?

Ariel: I'll do anything for Flounder. But I need proof I can trust you. You said we could save Flouder if I gave you the trident. Well, prove it!

Ursula: But of course! See?

Sora & Ariel: (!)

Flounder: Ariel!

Donald: I knew something was fishy!

Ursula: There you have it. If you want your precious Flounder back, give me the trident!

Ariel: (...)

Ursula: Ha ha! Mine at last! Now I'm ruler of all the seas!

Ariel: Let Flounder go!

Ursula: But of course! I'm feeling generous.

Ursula: Which reminds me... You always wanted to see other worlds, didn't you? Well, dear, I know just the world to send you to! Unfortunately, this will be a one-way trip!

Ursula: The sea and all its denizens shall grovel before me!

(After the bossfight.)
Flounder: Please don't be mad, Ariel. Ursula tricked me.

Ariel: Flounder, as long as you're safe, nothing else matters. Now all we have to do is return the trident and everything will be okay.

Sora: But what if the king finds out you're the one who took it in the first place?

Ariel: I'll be grounded for ages...

Sebastian: Ariel! Ariel! Where are you, girl? If you can hear me, please answer!

Ariel & Flounder: (!)

Ariel: It's Sebastian! He came all this way just to find me.

Goofy: Yep, and when he does, you're gonna get it!

Sora: Hey, I know! Why don't you just say Ursula stole the trident? And you got it back all by yourself! Then there's no way you'll get in trouble!

Ariel: I just had the same idea! But...I can't do that.

Sora: (?)

Ariel: I don't want to get in trouble, but I can't lie. Not about this. I know I haven't made the best decisions lately. It was a mistake to take the trident. But I made that mistake because I wanted to help you, Flounder. I'm proud of that. Blaming someone else would mean giving those feelings up. So, I'm going to tell the truth.

Sora: (...)

Jiminy Cricket: She's right, Sora! Honesty is the best policy.

Sora: Hey, I was just kidding! Great, now I'M the one in hot water!

Eight Floor exit[]

Sora, Donald, & Goofy: (!)

Riku Replica: Can't take a hint, can you? Leave, Sora.

Sora: I'm not leaving until I rescue you and Naminé.

Riku Replica: Hah! What makes you think I need rescuing?

Sora: Then think of Kairi. She wants you to come home, too. Don't you remember?

Riku Replica: You're the one forgetting. I told YOU to take care of her. At Kingdom Hearts—when we closed the door to darkness.

Sora: (...)

Riku Replica: Give it up, Sora. I'm not going back to the islands, and you're not changing my mind.

Sora: It's not just Kairi! What about the rest of our friends?

Riku Replica: You can have them. I forgot about those losers ages ago.

Sora: Listen to yourself!

Riku Replica: What about you, Sora? Do you even remember what they all look like?

Sora: (!) Of course I... (...)

Riku Replica: Don't feel bad. That's what this castle does to you if you stay too long. You forget all the useless stuff and remember for the first time what really matters. I remembered it, Sora. The one thing most important to me. I'm staying here to protect Naminé. Nothing else matters!

Sora: (!) (...) Hey, Riku... Mind if I jog your memory?

Riku Replica: Go ahead and try.

(After the bossfight.)
Riku Replica: Grrr... Too bad, Sora. Nothing's coming back to me. Maybe you should try hitting a little harder.

Sora: No, that's enough! C'mon, Riku... Let's quit pushing each other around and go help Naminé.

Riku Replica: What, together? That is so like you. You're always trying to worm your way into my heart!

Sora: Whoa, whoa, time out! When did I ever do that?

Riku Replica: Hmph, you probably forgot. It never mattered to you how I felt!

Sora: (...) I won't let you push me away.

On-screen: Learned Warpinator!

(Upon talking to Goofy.)
Goofy: Once you help Riku get his memories back, you'll make up in no time.

(Upon talking to Donald.)
Donald: That Riku is so stubborn! Has he always been like that?

(Upon entering the ninth floor.)
Naminé: (...)

Axel: Heh hh... I know exactly how you feel.

Naminé: (!)

Axel: Don't get your hopes up. Nobodies can't be somebodies. But think, Naminé. I'm sure there's SOMETHING you could do...

Naminé: (...)

Ninth Floor entrance[]

Sora: Why...

Donald & Goofy: (?)

Sora: I don't get it. We both want the same thing. We both want to help Naminé. So why are we fighting? I mean, Riku and I have bumped heads over stuff in the past...

Donald: That's for sure!

Goofy: Well, the more you fight the closer you must be.

Sora: Yeah, I know. But Riku doesn't seem to feel that way...

Donald: Have a little faith, Sora! You guys used to be inseparable, right? You, Riku, and Kai... Kai... (...) And, um, what's-her-name.

Jiminy Cricket: This is awful. Our memories are fading fast. We'd better hurry, Sora. I'm sure you and Riku can talk things out.

Sora: You're probably right. After all, the three of us were never apart! Me, Riku... ...and Naminé.

(Upon talking to Goofy.)
Goofy: It'll be real nice when you, Riku, and Naminé can laugh together again.

(Upon talking to Donald.)
Donald: Kai... Kai... Wak?! That's weird. I can't think of her name.

Never Land[]

Sora: Now where are we?

Goofy: The floor is kinda unsteady. I can hear the ocean, too...

Donald: I know! We must be inside a ship!

Sora: Well, we'd better find a way out. But which way do we go?

Donald: (!) Wak!

Sora: Who are you?

Jiminy Cricket: Maybe she's trying to help us.

Goofy: Looks like you're right!

On-screen: Obtained Key of Beginnings.

Key of Beginnings room[]

Sora: Is it just me, or are all the rooms starting to look the same?

Goofy: Maybe we're just goin' in circles?

Donald: Some help SHE was.

Goofy: I think you mighta ruffled her feathers, Donald.

Peter Pan: Tink, what are you doing! You weren't supposed to bring the pirates WITH you!

Sora, Donald, & Goofy: (!)

Peter Pan: Stay back, pirates, or this will be the last fight you pick!

Donald: Don't be so rude! We're not pirates! We're only here because... because... (...) Um...why are we here, Sora?

Sora: How am I supposed to know, Donald? Goofy, what do you think?

Goofy: Gawrsh, beats me.

Peter Pan: Okay, okay, I get the picture. Sora, Donald, and Goofy, right? I guess pirates wouldn't get lost on their own ship. And you're dressed funny.

Donald: There you go again!

Sora: Wait, so if you though we were pirates... This must be a pirate ship!

Peter Pan: That's right. You're trapped inside the notorious Captain Hook's vessel.

Donald: Well, if we're trapped, that means you are, too!

Peter Pan: Me? Don't be silly. No one can capture Peter Pan! I'm just lying low until it's time to make my move.

Goofy: Uh, what move is that?

Peter Pan: The pirates kidnapped my friend Wendy. She's got to be somewhere on this ship. I didn't expect there to be so many watchmen, though. I sent Tink to look for a way around... ...but all she found was you.

Sora: (!) I bet I know what Tink had in mind! If we all make a big enough racket, we can distract the pirates!

Goofy: Gawrsh, you musta read her mind.

Sora: So how 'bout it? Let's work together, at least until we get above deck.

Peter Pan: (...) Well, why not? Of course, I could save Wendy myself, if I wanted to. But you guys look like you'd be stuck without me.

Donald: Don't you have any manners?

On-screen: Obtained Key of Guidance.

Key of Guidance room[]

Peter Pan: There she is!

Wendy: Peter? Peter Pan!

Peter Pan: Wendy, are you okay? I've come to rescue you with my three assistants!

Sora, Donald, & Goofy: (...)

Peter Pan: C'mon, let's get off this ship and go explore Never Land! We'll never grow up!

Wendy: (...) Listen, Peter. There's something I've got to tell you. I want to go home to London.

Peter Pan: (!) What are you talking about? Stay here in Never Land, and you can be a kid forever. Every day'll be an adventure! If you go back to London, you'll stop being a kid. You'll grow up and we'll never see each other again!

Wendy: I know, Peter. But...I still want to go home.

Peter Pan: (...) I came to rescue you! And you don't care if you ever see me again!

Wendy: No, you don't understand!

Peter Pan: Suit yourself! And while you're at it, rescue yourself! I'm leaving.

Sora: Hey, wait a minute—

Donald: There he goes.

Wendy: Peter...

Sora: Not very thoughtful, is he? What do we do now?

Goofy: Hey, I've got an idea! Why don't we think of something after we get to the deck?

Donald: What kind of idea is that? But you do have a point...

Sora: Well, there's still trouble waiting outside. (...) Wendy, you stay here. We'll try to create a distraction.

Wendy: Okay, I understand.

Goofy: Maybe if you stay here, Peter will change his mind and come back.

On-screen: Obtained Key to Truth.

Key to Truth room[]

Donald: Whew! We finally made it out!

Captain Hook: There you are, you rascals!

Sora, Donald, & Goofy: (!)

Captain Hook: I'll teach you to stow away on Captain Hook's vessel! Friends of Peter Pan, I'll wager!

Donald: Are we his friends?

Goofy: He sure didn't seem to think so.

Sora: Yeah, the way he took off like that. He even ditched Wendy.

Captain Hook: I'm not finished talking yet! How dare you ignore me and plot behind my back! Uncivilized brats! You're in cahoots with Peter Pan, no mistake!

Sora: If you say so. Either way, you're gonna let us off this ship.

Goofy: And Wendy's coming with us.

Captain Hook: Think again, you scallywags! Hook's one step ahead of you!

Sora: Wendy!

Captain Hook: Any trouble, and Wendy swims with the sharks!

Donald: You wouldn't!

Captain Hook: Believe me, I'd rather not. After all, I need Wendy to lure out that blasted Peter Pan!

Peter Pan: Then I'll just have to take the bait, you old codfish!

Captain Hook & Wendy: (!)

Wendy: Peter!

Peter Pan: Here I am, Hook! Miss me?

Captain Hook: Insolent pup! Today is the day you pay for taking my hand!

Peter Pan: Uh-oh!

Captain Hook: Agh? Wa–wa-wa-wa-whoa! You've made a fool of me for the last time, Pan! I'll skewer the lot of you!

(After the bossfight.)
Sora: Thanks, Peter, we owe you one.

Peter Pan: Well, at first I thought I'd let you handle the situation... But I couldn't just stand by when things got out of hand. It looks like I might've underestimated you, though. You did good! Look, Wendy, about London... Are you sure you won't change your mind?

Wendy: Peter, I'm sorry. But I really want to go home.

Peter Pan: (...) I was afraid of that... Everyone grows up—and grownups always forget. First you'll forget what it feels like to be a kid, and then you'll forget about me.

Sora: (...)

Wendy: How can you say such a thing, Peter? I'll never, ever forget you.

Peter Pan: Sure, that's what you think now. But when you try to remember me, the memories will be gone. You'll forget—little by little, one memory at a time. Once you're grown up, there won't be a single memory left.

Sora: Don't say that. Memories—even important ones—don't come back to us whenever we want them to. But that doesn't mean the memories are gone. It's more like...like they're sleeping. So when the right thing comes along and wakes the memory up, we can remember it. The memories engraved in our hearts never go away. I'm sure of it.

Wendy: He's right, Peter.

Peter Pan: Never, huh? It's funny. Grownups shouldn't be able to see me anymore... But I have a feeling you guys just might be different. (...) Okay, Sora! If you say we'll meet again, then I believe you!

Wendy: Oh, Peter!

Peter Pan: Let's go, Wendy. London is waiting. Goodbye, Sora. I'll be waiting to see what you look like all grown up!

Sora: What's the matter, Tink?

Sora: This must be a gift from Peter.

Donald: Maybe he's not such a thoughtless guy after all.

Donald: Oww!

Goofy: Another gift from Peter?

Donald: What's the big idea!

On-screen: Obtained Tinker Bell.

Ninth Floor exit[]

Donald: Where's Riku? I thought he'd be here waiting for us.

Goofy: Guess he finally got fighting out of his system.

Sora: I sure hope so.

(Upon talking to Goofy.)
Goofy: Maybe Riku doesn't want to fight with you anymore.

(Upon talking to Donald.)
Donald: Careful! You never know where Riku might be hiding!

(Upon entering the tenth floor.)
Larxene: Now what, Vexen? Looks like your little toy isn't taking orders anymore.

Axel: Now Larxene... Shouldn't we give Vexen the benefit of the doubt? Riku could be hiding as part of some elaborate plan to lure Sora deeper into the castle.

Larxene: Oh, of course! Why didn't I see it before? Terribly sorry, Vexie. I guess I'm just used to you and your research being more funny than formidable.

Vexen: Hold your tongue!

Larxene: Aww, are you sulking? Ha ha, you are so half-baked.

Vexen: You're hardly one to talk, you conniving little—

Marluxia: That will do.

Vexen: Marluxia!

Marluxia: Your project has failed, Vexen. Do not disappoint us again.

Vexen: Disappoint YOU? You presume too much, No. 11. I am No. 4, and I will not stand for your snide remarks!

Marluxia: Yes, you will. This castle and the girl Naminé have been entrusted to ME. Defy me, and you defy the Organization.

Larxene: Unless I'm mistaken, treason is a CAPITAL crime...

Vexen: This is absurd!

Marluxia: In the name of the Organization, I pronounce your project a failure. This lapse must be reported to the Superior.

Vexen: No... Please, don't! I beg of you! Leave him out of this!

Marluxia: (...) I will, under one condition.

Vexen: What condition?

Marluxia: You must eliminate Sora personally.

Vexen: Eliminate him?!

Marluxia: You refuse?

Vexen: No...I mean...but... Why would you want that?

Marluxia: Just do it.

Vexen: (...)

Axel: He'll really do it, you know. He's got no choice.

Marluxia: Neither do we.

Marluxia: What to do? Your hero is soon to be wiped from existence.

Naminé: (...)

Marluxia: But he made a promise to you, didn't he?

Naminé: (!)

Marluxia: Isn't that right, Naminé?

Naminé: ...Yes.

Tenth Floor entrance[]

Donald: The tenth floor already... We've come a long way.

Jiminy Cricket: And we've lost ten floors' worth of memories. Sora, it's not too late. We should turn back.

Sora: No, I can't do that. That would be breaking my promise.

Jiminy Cricket: Promise? What promise is that?

Sora: When we were little, I made a promise to Naminé. I told her I'd always keep here safe, no matter what. But I didn't remember until I started forgetting everything else. I can't believe I forgot something that important! But I can still make up for it now. From now on, I'm keeping my promise.

Jiminy Cricket: Okay, Sora. We understand.

(Upon talking to Goofy.)
Goofy: If you remember your promise to Naminé, then you must still have your important memories.

(Upon talking to Donald.)
Donald: Special promises like yours are meant to be kept.

Hollow Bastion[]

Goofy: (?) I hear voices! I wonder who it is.

Jiminy Cricket: Shhh! I think something's wrong!

Beast: But Belle, I don't understand! I came here to rescue you!

Belle: (...) I didn't ask you to come.

Beast: (!)

Belle: And it doesn't matter anyway. I'm not going back with you, so you're wasting your time.

Beast: Have you lost your mind? How can you stay here with that witch?

Belle: I've nothing more to say. Now leave, before Maleficent finds you.

Beast: Belle...why?

Sora: I'm not sure what's going on, but...is everything okay?

Donald: Don't feel bad. There must be a reason she said those things.

Beast: (...) Keep your sympathy. No one could ever care for a beast like me.

Goofy: Sure wish there was somethin' we could do for him.

On-screen: Obtained Key of Beginnings.

Key of Beginnings room[]

Belle: Who are you? Did Maleficent kidnap you, too?

Sora: Uh...not exactly. It's a long story. (!) Hey, wait a sec... So, you've been kidnapped? You don't want to be here?

Belle: No, I don't. That witch Maleficent forced me to come here. I have no one to talk to. Books are all I have to ease my loneliness. And then there's him... Oh, I've missed him so much.

Goofy: You mean the Beast? Then why were you so mean to him before?

Sora: Yeah. You really hurt his feelings.

Belle: (...) You don't understand. I can't let him see how I really feel.

Sora: Why not?

Belle: It's just that— (!) Oh no, she's coming! Hide, quickly!

Sora, Donald, & Goofy: (?)

Belle: There's no time to explain. Hide yourselves! Now!

Belle: Oh... Good day, Maleficent. What brings you here?

Maleficent: He was here—yes?

Belle: (...)

Maleficent: He risked his life to come and save you. Why do you reject him?

Belle: I won't ask for his help.

Maleficent: Oh, and why is that?

Belle: You know very well why. I'm not going to fall into your trap!

Maleficent: (...) Then I have no choice but to make you BEG for his help!

Belle: (!)

Sora: No! She got away!

Donald: What should we do?

Sora: Help her, of course! What else?

On-screen: Obtained Key of Guidance.

Key of Guidance room[]

Maleficent: What are you waiting for? Call to him!

Belle: No! I won't let you hurt him!

Maleficent: Then I shall make you scream! The fool will come running the moment he hears your cries.

Sora: Enough!

Sora: The Beast isn't the only one you have to deal with.

Maleficent: Begone, boy. You have no business here. Unless, of course, you wish to join in the screaming! Yes... When that brute hears your shrieks of terror, he'll come right to me!

Beast: Don't trouble yourself, Maleficent. I'm here.

Belle: You came! (!) No! You mustn't! I told you to leave this place! Leave me alone! I never want to see your face again!

Beast: Belle...

Jiminy Cricket: What an awful thing to say!

Beast: (...) All right. If that's how you feel, I understand.

Belle: (!)

Beast: My hideous form is punishment for being selfish and unable to love. Transformed into a monster, loved by no one, I only became more selfish. And then I met you, Belle. (...) You're the only person who accepted me. Little by little, you warmed my cold, selfish heart. The memories of our days together are my most precious. I won't cast them aside. So I'm sorry, but I can't leave you here...even if you hate me for it. Consider it my final selfish act.

Belle: But why...

Maleficent: Well, well. I never dreamed such ugliness could hide so beautiful a heart. This calls for a change of plan. Beast, I shall claim your heart instead of Belle's!

Belle: No! Please! Unnh...?

Maleficent: Well, so much for the change of plan. Belle's heart it is. It seems her cold words spoke little of her true feelings. Ha ha ha, she loves you, Beast! I can feel it shining in her heart!

Beast: You fiend! Release Belle's heart at once!

Beast: (!) Where is she?

Sora: She went that way! That's the way the shadows fled.

Beast: What are you doing here?

Donald: No time to talk! We gotta go after them right away!

Beast: You'd help me?

Goofy: You bet! After what you just said, we GOTTA help you!

Sora: Let's go get Belle's heart back!

Beast: Right!

On-screen: Obtained Key to Truth.

Key to Truth room[]

Maleficent: You've done well to make it this far, Beast. As your reward, I'll tell you why Belle rejected you. My dark magic requires hearts of utmost beauty. Belle was perfect. Deep in her heart, her love for you shone with uncommon radiance. But she guessed my plans. By denying her love for you, she put her heart beyond my reach.

Beast: But she saved me! She protected me!

Sora: She couldn't hide how she really felt...

Beast: I've heard enough! Release her heart, Maleficent! If you don't...

Maleficent: Hm hm hm...

Beast: Witch! Do not try my patience!

Maleficent: Don't you realize why I am telling you all this? Did you think it was out of kindness? I did it to erase your doubts. Now your heart is beginning to shine with love for Belle. The perfect fuel for my dark magic! I shall have your heart, too, monster!

Sora: Not if we stop you!

Maleficent: You dare to challenge me? Pitiful fools!

(After the bossfight.)
Beast: (?)

Beast: (!) Belle! Thank goodness...

Belle: Please forgive me. I had to be cruel to you. But I guess I couldn't hide my true feelings...

Beast: I'm the one who should apologize. For just a moment, I doubted your love. I never want to remember those feelings of despair.

Belle: Then don't. Let's replace the sad memories with happier ones—starting now.

Beast: Belle...

Goofy: There they go with the mushy stuff, a-hyuck!

Sora: Yeah. We'd better give them some privacy.

Donald: Good idea! Let's keep moving.

Tenth Floor exit[]

Sora, Donald, & Goofy: (!)

Sora: Who are you?!

Vexen: That's no way to greet a stranger, Sora. I am Vexen. I've come to collect your debt.

Goofy: Do you owe him something?

Sora: Of course not!

Vexen: Oh, but you do. You owe me for reuniting you with your former friend.

Sora: (!) You don't mean—

Vexen: Yes. I am the one who brought Riku to you.

Sora: So...you're the one... You're the one who's been controlling him! What have you done with him?

Vexen: I see no need to tell you. Why trouble in your final moments?

(After the bossfight.)
Vexen: Splendid! As expected, you don't die so easily.

Sora: As if I'd ever lose to you!

Vexen: You'll yet have your chance. As we fought, I delved deep into your memory...

Sora: (!)

Vexen: ...and look what I found. This is a card crafted from memories locked in the other side of your heart. If you want to fight me for real, then step into the world within this card!

Sora: Come back! (...) Other side? What's he talking about?

On-screen: Obtained a world card.

(Upon talking to Goofy.)
Goofy: I got a bad feeling about all this. We should be careful.

(Upon talking to Donald.)
Donald: Another side of your heart? Is that where the stuff you forget goes?

(Upon entering the eleventh floor.)
Larxene: Is it just me, or has Vexen finally lost it? Now he's done something REALLY rash... What now, Axel? The show's over if Sora finds out about the other side.

Axel: (...) If he just passes through without catching on, we can patch things up later. But if not...

Marluxia: Let Naminé handle this. In the meantime, Axel, you know what to do.

Axel: No, I don't. Maybe you could spell it out for me.

Marluxia: Rid us of our traitor.

Axel: Done. There's no taking that order back later.

Eleventh Floor entrance[]

Jiminy Cricket: A card made of memories from the other side of your heart... I wonder what it does?

Sora: Only one way to find out. Besides, it's the only card we have left.

(Upon talking to Goofy.)
Goofy: You think there are memories on the other side of MY heart? Kinda scary...

(Upon talking to Donald.)
Donald: If you ask me, Vexen's waiting to spring a trap on us!

Twilight Town[]

Goofy: Gawrsh... Where are we, Sora?

Sora: Hmm... I dunno... I've never been here.

Donald: Me neither.

Jiminy Cricket: But that can't be right! Up until now we've only been to places in Sora's memory.

Sora: Maybe so, but I definitely don't remember this.

Donald: (!) Maybe you forgot this town just like the other stuff.

Jiminy Cricket: This is terrible. Our memories are practically gone.

Donald & Goofy: (...)

Sora: We'll be okay. See, look at this...

Goofy: Naminé's good luck charm!

Sora: There's a special memory that goes with this. One night, when Naminé and I were little, there was this meteor shower. Naminé started crying. She said, "What if a shooting star hits the island?" So I said, "If a shooting star comes this way, I'll hit it right back into outer space!" I was swinging this toy sword around the whole time. Naminé just smiled and said "Thanks." And then she gave me this.

Naminé: Sora, I'm so sorry. All this, because of me...

Sora: Naminé said she had it ever since she was a baby.

Donald: And she gave it to you? Wow...

Sora: Yeah. So I promised her... "From now on, I'll bring you good luck. I'll keep you safe." (...) I really let her down...

On-screen: Obtained Key of Beginnings.

Key of Beginnings room[]

Sora: (!)

Goofy: What's the matter?

Sora: I feel kind of funny. I'm sure I don't know this place, but it's starting to feel real familiar...

Donald: Then you must've been here before.

Sora: That's just it. I never have.

Goofy: Maybe it's like with Naminé. You forgot other stuff, so now you remember this place.

Sora: (...) No...it's different. With Naminé, the memories of us together sort of came drifting back piece by piece. But here, there are no memories. Everything feels familiar, that's all.

Vexen: Does it, now?

Sora, Donald, & Goofy: (!)

Vexen: A question, then, Sora... Which is more real to you: your memories of Naminé, or the familiarity you feel here?

Sora: Naminé, of course! Whatever I feel here is just some trick of yours!

Vexen: Ha ha ha... The memory's wiles are cruel. In its silence, we forget. And in its perversion, it binds our hearts firmly.

Sora: I don't have time for your riddles!

Vexen: Then recall that this place was made from another side of your memory. Yes, the other side of your heart knows this place. The other side remembers.

Sora: You're wrong! I don't know this place!

Vexen: (...) If you remain bound by the chains of memory, and refuse to believe your heart... ...then you may as well throw your heart away. You're no Keyblade master, no master of anything—just a slave to twisted memories. Just like my Riku. You're not fit to exist.

Sora: YOUR Riku? You're so full of it! YOU'RE the one who changed Riku, aren't you? Every word you've said is a lie! I'd never throw away my heart! I'm gonna take you down and save Riku and Naminé. THAT's what's in my heart!

(After the bossfight.),br> Vexen: Urrgh... Such strength, even at the mercy of your memory... You ARE dangerous! You must be exterminated!

Sora: Fine, whatever! Just put Riku back the way he was!

Vexen: Put him back? Fool of a boy! Even now you understand nothing. The Riku you speak of has but one fate—to sink into the emptiness of darkness. And you will share that fate, Sora! If you continue to seek the girl Naminé, the shackles will tighten... You'll lose your heart and become Marluxia's pawn!

Sora: Marluxia? Who's that, and what do they have to do with Nami—

Vexen: Gaah?!

Sora: Axel!

Axel: Hey, Sora. Sorry to cut in right when he was getting to the juicy bits.

Vexen: Unnngh... Axel, wh...why...?

Axel: You sure love to talk. It's about time you shut up—forever.

Vexen: No... Don't do it...!

Axel: We're nobodies, Vexen. We've got no one to be—but we still "are." So look on the bright side. You're off the hook. Now you can be nothing instead of just being nobody.

Vexen: M-Mercy, Axel! I don't want to...go yet...

Axel: NOW you can tell me I don't respect my elders.

Sora, Donald, & Goofy: (!)

Sora: What the... What ARE you people?

Axel: Wish I knew the answer to that myself.

(Upon exiting Twilight Town.)
Larxene: Nice work, Axel. Good riddance to that blabbermouth.

Axel: Marluxia, you used Vexen to test Sora's strength, right?

Larxene: Not just Sora's. Yours too, Axel. We weren't sure if you had it in you to take out a fellow member of the Organization.

Axel: (...)

Larxene: Well, I guess you did. You can join the big leagues now. With the three of us, taking over the Organization will be child's play.

Axel: I see. And that's where Sora comes in, right?

Larxene: Right. He wants to see Naminé, so we give him what he wants.

Marluxia: Rejoice, Naminé. The hero you've longed for is nearly here.

Naminé: (...) I'm... I'm very happy.

Larxene: Are you, now? Well, in your fits of happiness, try not to do anything to hurt Sora's feelings. Am I clear?

Naminé: Yes.

Marluxia: All you need do is layer the memories, one by one, and bring his heart closer.

Naminé: (...)

Axel: (...)

Naminé: Sora... Even if you come for me—what then?

Eleventh Floor exit[]

Sora: (!)

Riku Replica:: Enough, Sora! You'll just hurt Naminé if you go any further.

Sora: What, you still want to fight? Vexen's gone—you're free!

Riku Replica:: Free? I'm protecting Naminé from you because it's what MY heart tells me to do. I promised her... I promised Naminé I'd keep her safe.

Sora: You...did?

Riku Replica:: There was a meteor shower one night when she and I were little...

Sora: (!)

Riku Replica:: Naminé got scared and said, "What if a shooting star hits the islands?" So I told her, "If a shooting star comes this way, I'll protect you" And then—

Sora: You made a promise! And you had a toy sword!

Riku Replica:: (!) Y-Yeah... How do you know about that?

Sora: But...that was MY promise! On the night of the meteor shower, I said I'd protect her!

Riku Replica:: Liar! It was just me and her!

Sora: Oh yeah? Then how come she gave ME her good luck charm?

Riku Replica:: Her what?!

Sora: See?

Riku Replica:: (!) But... Where did you get that? (...) Oh, I know what you're trying to pull.

Sora: Huh?

Riku Replica:: That's a fake. I've got the real one right here!

Sora: (!) What... TWO of them?!

Riku Replica:: I'll teach YOU to make stuff up!

(After the bossfight.)
Sora: Riku!

Donald: This is...Naminé's good luck charm, isn't it?

Sora: It's just like the one she gave me. How'd he get this?

Sora, Donald, & Goofy: (!)

Goofy: It turned into a card...

On-screen: Obtained a world card.

(Upon talking to Goofy.)
Goofy: Riku's good luck charm turned into...a card?!

(Upon talking to Donald.)
Donald: So you and Riku had the same memory? Umm...

(Upon attempting to enter the twelfth floor.)
Donald: Ahh, somebody tell me what's going on here...

Sora: Let's just keep going, okay? It doesn't matter anymore.

Donald: Of course it matters! Don't you think it's weird that you and Riku have the same exact memory? You can't both be right.

Sora: Oh, so I'm wrong, huh? Fine, don't believe me!

Goofy: That's not what Donald meant. We're just worried.

Sora: Then let's hurry up and ask Naminé. That should clear it up, right? Look, we don't have time to sit around. So LET'S GO.

Donald & Goofy: (...)

Goofy: Sora...what's happening to you?

Sora: What's that supposed to mean?

Goofy: You always get real touchy when it comes to Naminé. Did you ever ask yourself why?

Donald: Before we came to this castle, you didn't even know her name. Now she's all you think about.

Sora: (...)

Goofy: It doesn't make sense. Maybe you should stop and think things through?

Sora: Think things through? You mean abandon her, is that it?

Donald: No, but—

Sora: Whatever, do what you want. Lay back, take a nap, I don't care! I'M going to find Naminé!

Donald: Sora!

(After the cutscene.)
Axel: You're all he's got left.

Naminé: (...)

Axel: If you don't stop this, no one will.

Naminé: (!) But...it's too late now.

Axel: Oh, I don't think you should give up just yet. By the way, Naminé. I don't see Marluxia around. Do you?

Naminé: What are you trying to say?

Axel: There's no one here to stop you.

Naminé: (...)

Axel: Do it right.

Axel: (...) Hm hmm... Ha ha haaa! Now THIS should be good. All the actors are in place. Now, Sora! Naminé! Riku! Marluxia! Larxene! It's about time you gave me one hell of a show!

Twelfth Floor entrance[]

Jiminy Cricket: Sora, you shouldn't talk to Donald and Goofy like—

Sora: Keep it to yourself!

Destiny Islands[]

Sora: (...) I'm not going crazy. Right? I know exactly where this is... Yeah! This is our island—where Naminé and I used to play together!

Tidus: Heeeey!

Wakka: Whassup, Sora!

Selphie: So, whatcha wanna do today?

Sora: Hey, guys! Am I glad to see you, uh...

Selphie, Wakka, & Tidus: (?)

Tidus: "Uh" what?

Wakka: We got food on our faces?

Selphie: Please, Wakka—only you could be dumb enough to not notice food stuck to your face.

Wakka: Hey, whoa! That's hittin' below the belt, ya?

Tidus: I dunno, Wakka. I think Selphie's on the mark.

Wakka: Aw, not you too, Tidus!

Sora: Oh, yeah... You're Selphie, Wakka, and Tidus, that's who you are!

Selphie, Wakka, & Tidus: (?)

Wakka: You hit your head?

Sora: No, uh...just thinking aloud.

Selphie: I know...you're thinking about HER again!

Sora: (!)

Tidus: Ohhh, I get it. Yeah, he's a total zombie when she's on his mind.

Wakka: That would explain why he's actin' all funny toward us.

Selphie: I bet you want us to take a hike so you two can be ALONE, huh?

Sora: Umm...I guess.

Selphie: All right, all right. We'll disappear for awhile. Go get her, cowboy.

Tidus: We'll try to be quiet while we SPY on you! Heh heh...

Wakka: Hey, Sora's serious. Give the man some room.

Tidus: Ha ha, just kidding!

Selphie: See you later, Sora!

On-screen: Obtained Key of Beginnings.

Key of Beginnings room[]

Sora: (!)

Riku: Hey, Sora. What's the big rush?

Sora: I know you... You're Riku!

Riku: (!) Gee, thanks for remembering me. It's been, what, a couple of hours?

Sora: Er...never mind. Are you okay? Are you still under his control?

Riku: What are you TALKING about?

Sora: (!) (...) I get it... You must be the Riku from my memories.

Riku: (?) "The Riku From My Memories"? Sounds like you're stuck in the land of make believe.

Sora: I guess I kind of am.

Riku: Ha ha, you're such a kid. How are you gonna take care of HER if you act like that?

Sora: (!) So you know where she is? I've been—

Sora & Riku: (!)

Sora: What's happening?

Riku: How should I know! Whatever it is, it can't be good. I'm gonna go warn the others!

Sora: Then I should go—

Riku: I know, I know! It's your job to look after her. So get going!

Sora: Okay!

On-screen: Obtained Key of Guidance.

Key of Guidance room[]

Sora: The island's breaking up!

(After the bossfight.)
Sora: I have to keep her safe... Naminé! Can you hear me? (!) Naminé...

Naminé: Sora...you came for me.

Sora: Naminé...finally...I've been through so much just to see you.

Naminé: I could say the same. (...) But I messed up. I really wanted to see you...but not like this.

Sora: Not like what?

Naminé: I was alone for so long. I couldn't bear it anymore... So I beckoned your heart to lead you here. And I'm so glad you found me. But your heart, I had to—

Sora: No, it's okay. I promised I'd protect you. That's why I came.

Naminé: Thank you. Oh, Sora, forgive me... I'm not supposed to be in this picture.

Naminé: She's right.

Sora: (!) Naminé?!

Naminé: That's not me.

Naminé: I'm not in your heart.

Naminé: I'm not in anyone's heart.

Naminé: I never have been.

Sora: What... What are you saying, Naminé? What's gotten into you?

Sora: We were inseparable! But then I lost you... I came here so I'd never lose you again!

Naminé: (...)

Naminé: Was it really me you came for?

Sora: Of course it was! I may have forgotten things in this castle, but not you! Look! You gave me this, didn't you?

Naminé: You still have it! My good luck charm...

Naminé: No, Sora! Don't believe me!

Sora: What am I supposed to do...

Naminé: Think, Sora. Think of the person who's most special to you. See that faint glimmer way in the back of your heart? That's a piece of your memory, Sora. Call out to it! No matter how far away the light gets, your heart's voice will always reach it.

Sora: But I already know who's most special to me. It's you, Na—

Sora: Who... (...) Who was that? I can't remember her, but she feels so...familiar. (!) Wait, what about Naminé? Where did she go?

On-screen: Obtained Oathkeeper.

Twelfth Floor exit[]

Sora: (!) Naminé! (...) It's not you. The person most special to me—it's not you.

Naminé: No. The girl you care about... the one who was always with you... It's not me. It's her.

Sora: But...who is she? I just... I can't think of her name. If she's so special to me, why can't I remember?

Naminé: It's because I went into your memories and—

Riku Replica: Let ME explain this.

Sora & Naminé: (!)

Riku Replica: Plain and simple. Your memory is a train wreck. You're not the one who's meant to protect Naminé—I AM. But you and your messed up memories always get in the way!

(After the bossfight, upon approaching the defeated Riku.)
Sora: Riku!

Riku Replica: Want some more?

Naminé: Sora!

Sora: Riku...why...

Riku Replica: Looks like I win.

Naminé: Stop! Riku, no!

Riku Replica: You're through, you fake!

Naminé: I said, STOP!

Sora: R-Riku...?

Sora: Riku! RIKU! What did you do? What did you do to Riku?

Larxene: She broke his heart. More like smashed it, really.

Sora & Naminé: (!)

Sora: Smashed?! But that means he's...he's...

Larxene: Ah ha ha! You're so much fun to watch. If it's Riku you're worried about, then worry no longer. Riku was never here.

Sora: What do you mean?

Larxene: You want me to tell you? Gee, I don't know... I just HATE spoilers...

Sora: Quit playing games!

Larxene: (...) All right, have it your way. It'll kill you to hear this—but I can live with that. That thing lying there is a puppet Vexen made. Nothing more than a toy. It's laughable, really. It called you a fake, but IT was the fabrication all along.

Naminé: (...)

Sora: (!) A fake? A fake Riku?!

Larxene: Fake in every way. It was only finished recently. And without any past, how could it remember anything? Its memories with Naminé were planted, not real. All this time it's been picking fights with you over bogus memories. Isn't that right Naminé?

Naminé: (...)

Larxene: Behind that cute little face you do some awful things.

Sora: No...not Naminé.

Larxene: You are so STUPID. Don't you get it? Messing with people's memories is about all she's good at. She steps into people's hearts and rearranges their memory. If she wants, she can even draw new memories of things that never happened. The girl you've been dying to protect... ...is a manipulative witch who shackles people's hearts with phony memories!

Sora: (!) Then my memory... Everything I remember...it's...

Larxene: Lies, lies. All lies! An illusion Naminé made. Binding you in the chains of your own memory was central to our trap. It makes me tingle to think how easily you were duped. This was our chance to make the Keyblade master our puppet! We nearly had you... But that jerk Axel used Naminé to wreck everything! He betrayed us!

Sora: You'll pay...

Naminé: Don't!

Larxene: Excuse me? It's a little late to grow a conscience, witch. Last I checked, YOU'RE the one who got him into this mess.

Naminé: I know, but—

Larxene: I should tell you that I am in an EXTREMELY foul mood. Thanks to you, all our plans are toast!

Sora: Naminé!

Larxene: What what what? Do I detect DISTRESS? You don't even know her!

Sora: Maybe not. But I still made a promise.

Larxene: (?)

Sora: I promised Naminé I'd keep her safe. Maybe my memories are fake. But they're still mine, and I'm gonna be true to them.

Larxene: (...) What an idiot!

Sora: (!)

Larxene: There is no promise, there never was! YOU ARE DELUSIONAL. Must you insist on playing the hero? Oh, whatever. It's your funeral. Nighty-night, you sham!

Donald: You have to go through us!

Sora: Donald! Goofy! You came back?

Goofy: Of course we came back. We were worried about you!

Donald: We weren't about to let you have all the fun yourself!

Goofy: Right! It's always been the three of us...

Donald: And it always will be! Got it, Larxene?

Larxene: (...) Have it your way. Thrice the pain for you means thrice the fun for me!

(After the bossfight.)
Larxene: No... Nooooo!! I refuse to lose to a bunch of losers! I... I'm fading?! NO...this isn't...the way I... I won't...ALLOW...

Goofy: Gawrsh, you must be Naminé! We're friends of Sora, I'm—

Naminé: Goofy, I know. And this is Donald.

Donald: Gee, how'd you know?

Goofy: Congratulations, Sora! You finally found your friend.

Sora: (...)

Donald & Goofy: (?)

Jiminy Cricket: Hmm, where to begin... Naminé, I know it's not easy, but could you tell us what's going on?

Naminé: I don't mind. It's my fault, after all.

Naminé: I took the people and memories in Sora's heart... ...and little by little replaced them with false memories that I made.

Donald: So the promise Sora made to keep you safe...

Naminé: It was all a lie. Sora never promised me anything. Me being on the islands—that was a lie, too. This is our first meeting. I was never Sora's friend...

Sora: You were never anything...more than that, either...

Naminé: I'm sorry. In your true memories, I was never there.

Jiminy Cricket: So you're the reason the rest of us lost our memories, too. Can we ever get them back?

Naminé: Not right away. If we go to the thirteenth floor I can fix everything. But Marluxia...

Jiminy Cricket: Is that the person who made you tamper with our memories?

Naminé: He said he'd keep me locked away in this castle forever if I didn't obey. I've been alone for so long...

Goofy: So you did as you were told because you were lonely...

Naminé: I'm...I'm so sorry...

Sora: Don't be. Please don't cry...

Naminé: I know. I don't have the right.

Sora: That's not what I meant!

Naminé: (?)

Sora: Look...I'm really not happy about you screwing around with my memories. But you know, I can't really get mad at you, either.

Everyone: (...)

Sora: These memories that you gave me... In my head I know they're lies, but they still...feel right. Like my promise. I said I'd protect you...that I wouldn't make you cry... So if you cry now, I feel guilty. Like I let you down somehow. So please...don't cry. Don't apologize. Until I get my memory back, smile, laugh, be happy. It's easier on me that way.

Naminé: Sora...

Donald: (...) Goofy, don't you think he's laying it on a bit thick?

Goofy: I don't know. Sora's always like this around girls, a-hyuck!

Sora: (!) Shut up, you two! I thought you lost your memories!

Donald: Friends don't forget things like that!

Sora: Gimme a break...

Naminé: Hee hee...

Sora: (!) There! That's it! That's the Naminé I remember. I used to really like it when you smiled. I mean, in my fake memory. But what I'm felling now isn't fake. It's real.

Naminé: You're sweet, Sora.

Sora: Well, we've still got work to do.

Donald: Yeah, let's go get our memories back!

Goofy: Marluxia is up there, so you'd better stay here, Naminé.

Sora: Goofy's right. Could you look after Riku for me? We'll come get you after this is over.

Naminé: Okay. Be careful, Sora.

Sora: (...) I'll be fine... I promise!

On-screen: Obtained Oblivion.

(Upon talking to Goofy.)
Goofy: You're a nice guy. Why? It's a secret, a-hyuck!

(Upon talking to Donald.)
Donald: What if we have to face Axel AND Marluxia?

(Upon talking to Naminé.)
Naminé: I wish I could help Riku. I'm the one who made him suffer...

Thirteenth Floor entrance[]

Sora: Who was it? Who gave me this? (...) It's no use.

Donald: Can't you remember?

Sora: I only remember Naminé. Do either of you remember anything?

Donald: No, nothing. I think Goofy and I are supposed to be looking for someone important, too. But I can't remember... Um...you know, I'm just a teeny-weeny bit...scared.

Sora & Donald: (...)

Goofy: Then let's make a promise!

Sora: Huh?

Goofy: What you said back there got me thinking. It's easier to face the scary stuff when you've got a promise to keep!

Sora: So it's like...courage.

Donald: That's a great idea! So...what should we promise?

Goofy: That's easy! No matter what happens—even if we end up far apart or forget each other...

Sora: All for one, one for all.

Donald: And that's a promise.

On-screen: Learned Trinity Limit!

On-screen: Obtained Key of Beginnings.

(Upon entering the fourth room.)
(Marluxia is seen approaching Naminé.)

(Upon entering the tenth room.)
Marluxia: You're a fool among fools to show your face here, traitor!

Axel: Traitor? I don't know what you're talking about.

Marluxia: Why did you let her go? You and your cursed meddling! He was ours! The Keyblade master could have been our slave!

Axel: Right, your big plan. You use Naminé to rewrite Sora's memory piece by piece. He becomes her puppet. Then, using Naminé and Sora, you and Larxene overthrow the Organization. Did I get it right? 'Cause that would make YOU the traitor, Marluxia. Not me.

Marluxia: But you eliminated Vexen!

Axel: Yeah, come to think of it. So what? All I did was weed the garden. And I had to be sure you two trusted me.

Marluxia: I see...a double agent. You've been investigating our conspiracy from the start.

Axel: Moving on... I believe you ordered me to "rid us of our traitors." I always follow orders, Marluxia.

Key of Beginnings room[]

Axel: Larxene paid the price for disloyalty. You're next, Marluxia. In the name of the Organization you betrayed, I will annihilate you!

Marluxia: Go ahead, then—strike!

Axel: What kind of game is this? You think cowering behind Naminé will stop me? Think again. Your little mascot can keep you company in the void.

Naminé: (!)

Axel: Farewell, Marluxia.

Marluxia: Oh, I think not. Are you listening, Sora?

Axel: (!) Huh?

Marluxia: Axel is willing to harm Naminé just to get at me! Destroy him!

Axel: Well, well, Sora. Marluxia made you his puppet after all.

Sora: Never. After I finish you, he's next.

Axel: Hmm... Listen, Sora. We've got more in common than you think. I'd rather not fight you... ...but I do have a reputation to think of!

(After the bossfight.)
Axel: You're not half bad. Looks like it was worth saving your hide after all.

Sora: Saving me? What do you mean?

Axel: (...) Sorry... I'd hate to kill the suspense.

Sora: Axel!

(Upon entering the exit hall.)
Marluxia: So you've destroyed Axel. You have my thanks, Sora. Or perhaps I should thank the power of the Keyblade. How I long to make it my own and have the Organization at my mercy!

Sora: Get real, Marluxia. Let Naminé go!

Marluxia: You cannot win as long as she is in my hands. Naminé... Erase Sora's memory!

Everyone: (!)

Naminé: But...if I do that...

Marluxia: Yes. If you uproot the memories you planted... ...then Sora's heart will collapse and all his memories will be torn asunder.

Goofy: Sora's heart...

Donald: Collapse?!

Marluxia: I'd prefer the Keyblade master unmarred... ...but even a riven heart can be rebuilt with time. Sora will yet be my slave. Do it, Naminé! Obliterate his memory!

Naminé: (...) No. Sora forgave me even though I deceived him. I could never break his heart! I don't care what you do to me. I won't hurt Sora!

Marluxia: Then you'll pay the price—

Sora: Do what he says, Naminé!

Naminé: (!)

Sora: I don't care! Erase my memory!

Goofy: Sora, what are you saying?

Sora: Who am I going to look after if I don't have you? Do it, Naminé! Erase my memories, break my heart... I'll still have my promise. I'll still protect you!

Naminé: Sora...

Sora: I don't need my memory to take on Marluxia.

Donald: Yeah! Even if Sora forgets, we won't!

Goofy: All we gotta do is remember for him!

Sora: With everyone else's memories, I can piece my own together again in no time!

Marluxia: Ignorant fool! If Naminé destroys your memory, you'll be naught but a lifeless shell. Your heart will be unable to feel, to care! Just like that pathetic imitation of Riku.

Riku Replica: Guess again.

Everyone: (!)

Marluxia: It cannot be!

Sora: Riku!

Riku Replica: No, not Riku. Just someone's pet project.

Marluxia: But...you're an empty shell! You've been stripped of all you had!

Riku Replica: What did I ever have? My body and heart are fake. But there's one thing you can't take from me anyway... even if it is a lie! I will protect Naminé. Phantom promise or not, it's MY promise!

Marluxia: Know your place! You would chain your heart with false memories? Cast your heart's freedom aside?

Marluxia: You turn from the truth because your heart is weak. You cannot defeat me!

(After the bossfight.)
Donald: We...we got him?!

Marluxia: You could say that.

Everyone: (!)

Marluxia: But what you destroyed was just an image of me. No more than a petty imitation.

Riku Replica: So what!

Riku Replica: Grrr... Another trick.

Sora: (...) The real Marluxia's in there?

Naminé: Yes.

Sora: Whatever's on the other side is powerful... I can feel it.

Goofy: Well then, we'd better hurry up and stop it!

Donald: Let's do this!

Sora: Riku... Keep Naminé safe.

Riku Replica: Me?

Sora: You don't want to?

Riku Replica: (...) All right.

(Upon talking to Naminé.)
Naminé: Your heart can withstand even Marluxia's power. I just know it!

(Upon talking to Donald.)
Donald: You ready? Whatever's behind that door sounds really powerful...

(Upon talking to Goofy.)
Goofy: As long as we remember our promise, there's nothing we can't take on!

(Upon talking to Riku.)
Riku Replica: I'll take care of Naminé. I promise.

(Upon approaching the door.)
Donald: This is it, Sora! The final battle!

Goofy: You ready to go?

On-screen:

Yes
No

(After selecting 'Yes'.)
(Note: 'heart-torn' is misspelled as 'heart-lorn'.)
Marluxia: Drown in the heart-torn world of nothingness! I shall scatter your heart to the empty winds!

Sora: (!)

(After the bossfight.)
Sora: Are you okay, Riku?

Riku Replica: I'm not Riku. I'm fake. I can't remember when I was created, or why... All I've got left is you and Naminé. But those memories aren't real...

Goofy: Naminé, can you put Riku's memory back to normal?

Naminé: It...It doesn't work that way.

Riku Replica: It's all right. Don't worry about me.

Sora: Wait!

Riku Replica: (...)

Sora: Who cares if someone made you? You have your own heart. Those feelings and memories are yours and yours alone. They're special!

Riku Replica: Sora, you're a good person. I don't have to be real to see how real your feelings are. That's good enough for me.

Sora: Riku! (...) Riku...

Donald: Can you fix our memories?

Naminé: Yes. Just because you can't remember something doesn't mean it's gone.

Goofy: What do you mean?

Naminé: Remembering one thing leads to remembering another, and then another... Your memories are connected, like links in a chain. Those same chains are what anchor us all together. I don't destroy memories. I just take apart the links and rearrange them. You still have all your memories.

Jiminy Cricket: So you can put them back together?

Naminé: Yes, but first I have to undo the links I made. Then I have to gather up the memories scattered in your hearts and reconnect them. It will take time. But I think it will work. No, I'll MAKE it work. It's my turn to help you out.

Sora: All right. We're in your hands.

Jiminy Cricket: Hey... Wait just a second! You said you'd have to undo the links you made. But that means—

Naminé: Yes, Jiminy. You won't be able to recall what happened in this castle.

Sora: (!) Not even you?

Naminé: I'm sorry. It's the only way. You have to choose, Sora. You can lose your memories of this castle and reclaim your old memories... ...or keep your memories here and give up the memories that you've lost.

Sora: I have to choose?

Naminé: Yes.

Sora: (...) Put me back the way I was.

Naminé: (!) Okay, I understand! Who needs false memories, right? Especially when you have real memories of people who are really important to you. Anyone would say the same.

Donald: We have to sleep in these to get our memories back?

Naminé: You'll be fine. It might take a little time, but I'll take care of you.

Goofy: But when we wake up, we won't remember you anymore...

Donald: How are we going to thank you later?

Jiminy Cricket: No problem, Donald! I'll make a note in my journal: "Thank Naminé."

Donald: Of course! Why didn't I think of that!

Goofy: Good night, Naminé.

Naminé: Good night.

Naminé: You too, Sora.

Sora: Okay.

Naminé: It may have started with a lie, but I'm really glad I met you, Sora.

Sora: Yeah, me too. When I found you... Even when I remembered your name, I was so, so happy. The way I felt was no lie.

Naminé: Goodbye.

Sora: No, not goodbye! I'll find you again after I wake up. And we'll be friends for real. Promise me, Naminé.

Naminé: You'll only forget.

Sora: I won't. Even if you take apart the chain of memories in my heart, the links will stay there. This memory will always be inside me somewhere.

Naminé: I guess you're right. Let's promise, then.

Sora: I'll see you again, Naminé.

Naminé: Sora... The loose links will sink into the darkness in your heart. You won't be able to just reach in and pick the one you want. But there's another promise you made—a promise to someone you could never replace. She's your light. The light within the darkness. If you can remember her... ...all the memories lost in the shadows of your heart will come into the light.

Sora: Another promise...

Naminé: Look at the good luck charm. I changed its shape when I changed your memory. But when you thought of her, it went back to the way it was. You're remembering...

Sora: Kairi! All my friends... Naminé?

Naminé: Don't worry. You'll forget me... ...but we have our promise, so I can come back to you.

Sora: A promise is a promise.

Naminé: One day it'll be our light, the light that brings us together. I'll be in your heart until that time comes.

Sora: I know. Forgotten, but not lost.

(After the credits.)
On-screen: fading memories, reconstructed memories, and a dream—a dream of you in a world without you

On-screen: The End

Reverse Rebirth[]

Riku: Ungh... Where...where am I...

Ansem (DiZ): Sleep.

Riku: (!) Who's there?!

Ansem (DiZ): Sleep. Here, between light and dark.

Riku: Between...what? (!) The king! Where's the king?! Together we closed the door to darkness, and after that... (...) Grr, why can't I remember?

Ansem (DiZ): Your king is far away. Sleep, and leave the war with darkness in his hands. The thorny light of awakening will bring only anguish to one in your state. Turn from the light. Shut your eyes.

Riku: You talk like I'm some kind of demon of the dark.

Ansem (DiZ): Can you face the truth?

Riku: (!)

Ansem (DiZ): Here, blanketed by the darkness, sleep is safety. Sleep is eternal.

Riku: Is this...a card?

Ansem (DiZ): It is a door to the truth. Take it, and your sleep ends. Take it, and take the first step toward the truth. But know this: The truth will bring you pain. Will you still go? There can be no returning to the sweet security of sleep.

Riku: (...)

Riku: Yeah, well... Seems like a boring place to take a nap anyway.

Ansem (DiZ): Well said, Riku.

Riku: (!)

Riku: A door to the truth, huh...

Basement Twelve, Hollow Bastion[]

Riku: (!) This is Maleficent's castle! How'd I end up HERE? Someone must have brought me here while I was sleeping. But who?

Ansem (DiZ): What you see is not real. It's the world of your memory.

Riku: My memory?

Ansem (DiZ): The things you remember of Maleficent's castle from your time there. Those memories became a card, and that card made this world. The things you see—you've seen them all before, haven't you?

Riku: Yeah... So what now? Am I supposed to learn something while I'm here? Maybe run into someone I know?

Ansem (DiZ): Ordinarily...yes. You would meet the people in your memories.

Riku: Ordinarily? Hey, I'm asking you a question! Fine. But it'd better be you I run across next, Voice. I'm sick of talking to thin air.

On-screen: Obtained Key of Beginnings.

Key of Beginnings room[]

Riku: (...) It's like he said—everything's just how I remember it. Even this room...

Ansem (DiZ): It must be nice being back in your old bedroom. Think of all the memories...

Riku: You again. Sorry, but these memories I could do without. Maleficent gave me this room.

Ansem (DiZ): So she did. And you lived here, tempted by the darkness she offered. You cast away your home, your friends, everything... But at least they gave you a nice room.

Riku: Shut up.

On-screen: Obtained Key of Guidance.

Key of Guidance room[]

Riku: No one here, either... There's nothing but Heartless in this castle. (...) Voice! I know you're watching—so explain this. Where are the people from my memories? Tell me!

Ansem (DiZ): Are you sure you want to see them?

Riku: (...) Of course I do.

Ansem (DiZ): But you cast them aside.

Riku: (!)

Ansem (DiZ): To reach the outside world, you passed through the door to darkness. Behind you, you left family, friends, home—everything—all in pursuit of darkness.

Riku: But I cast that aside, too!

Ansem (DiZ): Then what do you have to show for it?

Riku: (...)

Ansem (DiZ): First your home, then the dark. Your heart only knows how to throw things away. It's empty, like that room. Like your memories. That's why no one is in the castle with you. Your heart is hollow except for the darkness you couldn't quite shake off.

Riku: You're full of it! I rejected the darkness!

Ansem (DiZ): Ha ha ha... Did you really, now?

On-screen: Obtained Key to Truth.

Key to Truth room[]

Riku: (!)

Maleficent: I knew you'd return, Riku.

Riku: Maleficent! You're alive?!

Maleficent: You haven't been paying attention. I am but a figment of your memory.

Riku: (...) Of all the people I could run into, it had to be you...

Maleficent: Who else? Your heart is steeped in darkness. You can only see people who exist in that same darkness—people like me.

Riku: No...

Maleficent: Be grateful you have someone to keep you company. Your heart is empty. Were it not for the darkness in your heart... ...you would be completely alone.

Riku: That's sounding pretty good right about now.

Maleficent: Come, now. You once clung to me to sate your hunger for darkness. You want me here. Who else but I can give you the darkness you long for?

Riku: (...) There was a time I did want you around. I surrendered my heart to the dark. But never again. You and your darkness have nothing to offer. All I did was lose myself... Empty myself! I'm finished with all that. If I'm stuck seeing people like you, people of the dark... I'll take you out one by one.

Maleficent: Then don't forget to take yourself out last. Because you, like me, are one of the dark.

Riku: That's fine with me. I turned to darkness because my heart was weak. I hate that weakness. It's like I'm my own enemy. And seeing people like you embrace the darkness just makes it worse! Enough talk, Maleficent.

Maleficent: So you hate the darkness enough to fight it... Oh, the agony you must feel! Let me end your pain, Riku—end it forever with the wondrous power of darkness!

Basement Twelve exit[]

Ansem (DiZ): Why do you shun the dark?

Riku: Oh, come on. I know you heard every word I said to Maleficent.

Ansem (DiZ): Darkness is your weapon. I need you to accept it.

Riku: What do you care?

Ansem (DiZ): Stop resisting and accept the darkness. You must... ...if you are to serve me again!

Riku: Ansem... Just as I thought.

Ansem (DiZ): You don't seem surprised.

Riku: You always were chatty when it came to darkness. So let me guess... You want to pull me back into the darkness and play puppet master again...right?

Ansem (DiZ): Clever boy. You'll make a fine host. Now, surrender to me again and—

Riku: You're insane! There won't be an "again"!

Riku: Unnh...

Ansem (DiZ): Did you really think you could harm me? A weakling like you couldn't even defeat Sora—and you had darkness on your side.

Riku: Excuse me for...being weak...

Ansem (DiZ): You need the darkness. Submit! Bow to the darkness, and bow to me.

Riku: Not a...chance...

Ansem (DiZ): Only darkness can help you now.

Mickey: You're wrong!

Riku: (!) That voice...! Your Majesty, is that you?!

Mickey: You betcha! Riku, you're not alone. Listen careful now, Riku. The light'll never give up on you. You'll always find it, even in the deepest darkness! But you have to believe!

Riku: I will. Hear that? I'm not losing to the darkness today, Ansem.

Ansem (DiZ): You think some feeble light can save you from the darkness I command? Fool!

(After the bossfight.)
Riku: That all you've got?

Ansem (DiZ): It seems you are intent on resisting the darkness. Very well. See with your own eyes.

Riku: What are those?

Ansem (DiZ): They are cards crafted from your memory. Advance through the worlds they beget, and you will come to understand... Chasing the light will not distance you from the dark. You cannot run.

Riku: Who's running? Give me the cards. I'll enter those worlds. And in the end, if I haven't given up...I win.

Ansem (DiZ): I have one more gift for you.

Riku: (!) What did you do?!

Ansem (DiZ): I tempered the darkness that remains in your heart.

Riku: What, you still think that I'd rely on darkness?

Ansem (DiZ): Whether or not you use it is your choice.

Riku: (!)

Ansem (DiZ): I'll be waiting, Riku...for you to come to your senses and yield to the darkness!

On-screen: The darkness in Riku's heart has been fortified. He can now enter Dark Mode in battle. Riku's Dark Points (DP) will fill as he takes damage or breaks opponents' cards. When the DP displayed below Riku's gauge reach a certain level... ...Riku will transform and enter Dark Mode. Riku can only use sleights while in Dark Mode. Losing a card break or taking damage will deplete DP... ...and when Riku's DP reach 0 he will return to normal. Riku can increase his maximum DP upon leveling up. With higher DP, Riku can stay in Dark Mode for a longer period of time.

On-screen: Obtained world cards.

(Upon selecting 'Review deck' for the first time in the menu.)
On-screen: Riku can't build his own deck. He must battle using a closed deck with preselected cards. The deck Riku uses changes as he proceeds through the castle.

(Upon entering the eleventh basement floor.)
Lexaeus: (...)

Lexaeus: Don't I even get a hello, Lexaeus?

Vexen: What's going on, Zexion? I demand an explanation.

Zexion: Nice to see you too, Vexen. You know, it's deplorable... The Organization used to be the rope that binds us. And now it's full of kinks.

Vexen: How dare you!

Lexaeus: Let it go, Vexen.

Vexen: (...)

Lexaeus: Zexion, tell us. What did you detect?

Zexion: (...) Visitors. I picked up two scents in the castle's lowest basement. One of them was Maleficent, but—

Vexen: Absurd. The witch is gone. She cannot return from the realm of darkness of her own volition.

Zexion: If you'd let me finish... The scent belonged to a very convincing double.

Vexen: (...)

Zexion: But I can't say much beyond that, since the would-be Maleficent is no more. Our other visitor saw to that.

Lexaeus: Who is it?

Zexion: I don't know... But the scent was very similar to the Superior's. Exactly similar, if I may say.

Vexen: Rubbish!

Zexion: Fact, Vexen. Now, what shall we do?

Lexaeus: (...) Let us bide our time and see what develops.

Basement Eleven entrance[]

Riku: Something...tastes kind of funny... What is it? It's so familiar... (...) (!) Darkness. The taste of darkness. What's happened to me... The darkness even seeps into my senses. (...)

Mickey: Don't you worry, Riku.

Riku: Your Majesty!

Riku: What happened to you? You're all...fuzzy.

Mickey: I can only send a little bit of my power here. But I have a request.

Riku: A request? From Your Majesty?

Mickey: Riku, don't let go of yourself just because darkness has a hold on you. Fight the darkness inside you! It won't be easy... But don't forget! Even in the darkest darkness, there's always a little light.

Riku: Light...within darkness?

Mickey: You and I have seen it! The far-off, welcoming light inside the door to darkness... The light of Kingdom Hearts, Riku—it'll show you the way. Please don't give up. Believe in the light. That's all I ask.

Riku: (...) Okay...I'll try my best.

Mickey: And I'll try to find a way to reach you. I'll come, I promise.

Riku: (!) You're...an illusion? My hand passes right through you.

Mickey: But we shook hands, in our hearts. We're connected, you and me.

Riku: Yeah...I guess so.

(Upon entering the tenth basement floor.)
Zexion: I've identified the scent. It's Riku.

Vexen: Riku? But Riku is gone! He and that king were lost when they ventured beyond the door to darkness. How could he have escaped?

Zexion: Riku once shouldered the darkness. Perhaps that made him half-dark.

Vexen: And that's why you mistook him for the Superior. Fascinating... The dark power given to Riku facilitated his escape from the realm of darkness. One with ties to both the Keyblade and the powers of darkness... This merits further research.

Zexion: What I want to know is why Riku appeared here in Castle Oblivion.

Vexen: Ha! That's simple. His existence resonates with that of another hero. Sora came, so Riku followed.

Zexion: Sora's in the castle?

Vexen: Yes, he and his companions arrived earlier. By now that dog Marluxia is already using Naminé to meddle with Sora's heart.

Zexion: Interesting. I had no idea.

Vexen: I don't think Marluxia plans to hand Sora over, but...he can play his little game. If he gets Sora, then we need only acquire Riku. If he truly is like the Superior, then we will be untouchable!

Basement Ten entrance[]

Riku: (!)

Vexen: Riku, I presume?

Riku: Who are you? Are you with Ansem?

Vexen: (...) You are half correct. Let us say that it's not the Ansem you know. He is Ansem and he is not—which is to say he is nobody.

Riku: Nobody, huh? Sorry, riddles aren't my thing. Try making some sense.

Vexen: He belongs to neither the light nor the dark, but walks the twilight between. As do I. And for that matter—

Riku: (!)

Vexen: Ha ha, that's right. We have much in common.

Riku: Maybe we do... But so what! Is that an invitation to join your club? Yeah, there's darkness inside me, just like you said. But darkness is my enemy! And you are, too, for making everything around here reek of it!

Vexen: Oh ho, so it's a fight you want. Very well—a fight you shall get!

(After the bossfight.)
Vexen: Ha ha ha... This battle has made it clear. The darkness coursing through you is a tremendous power. All you needed was the right provocation.

Riku: (!) Great. So this was a trick?

Vexen: Precisely. Your fiery reaction provided just the data I needed. You have my thanks, Riku!

Basement Nine[]

(Upon entering the eight basement floor.)
Lexaeus: Where did Vexen go?

Zexion: He's off using Riku's data to create some kind of replica.

Lexaeus: And what of Sora?

Zexion: Naminé is shuffling his memories as we speak. Marluxia may well get his puppet. He's a danger to us all. Larxene's not to be trusted, either.

Lexaeus: Nor is Axel. Who knows what that one is thinking...

Zexion: Let's observe a little longer, then speak with Vexen.

Lexaeus: But Vexen despises Marluxia. Think of the mess it would create...

Zexion: That's why Vexen must be told. Better he clean up the mess than us.

Basement Eight entrance[]

Riku: (!) What the... What are you supposed to be?

Riku Replica: Surprised? I guess you would be.

Riku Replica: I bet it's not every day you meet your twin. Too shocked to speak? This should come as a relief, then: I'm a replica of you that Vexen made.

Riku: What, you mean a fake me?

Riku Replica: I didn't mean "fake"! Just because you're real doesn't mean you're better! We share the same body and the same talents. There is one easy way to tell us apart, though. Know what that is? Unlike you, I'm not afraid of anything.

Riku: (!) Are you calling me a coward?

Riku Replica: You ARE a coward. You're afraid of the dark! The darkness inside you scares you witless.

Riku: Look, I—

Riku Replica: But I'M different. I embrace the darkness. I can make it do whatever I want. In other words... I can wipe the floor with you!

(After the bossfight.)
Riku: Hey, FAKE. I thought you were gonna wipe the floor with me.

Riku Replica: Go on, laugh. I'm still new. I'll get stronger and stronger, just you wait. It won't be long before I surpass you. Next time we fight, you're finished!

Riku: Sorry, you missed your chance. I'm finishing you first, right here!

Riku Replica: Ha ha ha! It's nice to have darkness on my side. How could you be scared of something so thrilling! You're missing out.

Riku: Shut up!

Riku Replica: So now the coward is playing tough guy. That's cute. See you next time, Real Thing. Try not to miss me.

Riku: Come back here! I'll show you who's a coward. Punk.

(Upon entering the seventh basement floor.)
Vexen: How did it feel to fight the real Riku?

Riku Replica: He's spineless. I'll be running circles around him in no time.

Vexen: (...) Before that, wouldn't you like to meet another hero?

Riku Replica: You mean that Sora kid. He's here in the castle, I hear. Want me to take care of him?

Vexen: Nothing's definite, but yes, it may come to that. I intend to make good use of you.

Riku Replica: No worries. Sora's just one more person to crush on the way to Riku.

Basement Seven entrance[]

Riku: Come on out, you fake! Show yourself!

Ansem (DiZ): Fake? Oh, I don't think that's the right word.

Riku: (!) What are you saying? He's just a copy of me—he said as much himself.

Ansem (DiZ): A copy, yes—or maybe a model. He is an example of what you should be. He accepts the darkness... just as you once accepted me. But now, you are afraid. Perhaps YOU are the one who is being fake.

Riku: Name one time I've been afraid of the darkness!

Ansem (DiZ): In the card-worlds, you grappled desperately with the darkness. Desperation is a product of fear. You fight the darkness because it frightens you.

Riku: (...) Oh, I get it. You think I'll stop fighting the darkness just to prove I'm not afraid of it. Nice try. But I'm gonna keep fighting.

Ansem (DiZ): (...) Tsk, so stubborn. Then continue your fight, if you must. Eventually, you will see. You cannot resist the dark.

On-screen: Obtained world cards.

(Upon entering the sixth basement floor.)

Riku Replica: But it's just a card. What good is that?

Axel: That card contains Sora and Riku's memories of their home.

Larxene: This is your chance to get your hands on the real Riku's memories. All you need is that card and a little help from Naminé. Maybe we'll get her to make you forget you're fake...

Riku Replica: (?)

Larxene: Better yet, we could remake your heart so you can be just like the real Riku.

Riku Replica: (!) Hey, hold on! What do you mean, remake my heart?! The real Riku's a wimp who can't deal with the darkness inside him. What do I want with the heart of a loser?

Larxene: Any objections, Vexen? Do you or don't you want to test Sora?

Vexen: (...) It must be done.

Riku Replica: What?! Vexen, how could you!

Vexen: Didn't I say I intended to make good use of you?

Riku Replica: (!)

Larxene: Relax, kiddo. It won't hurt...much!

Riku Replica: I'll show YOU hurt!

Larxene: Stupid little toy! What made you think you could even SCRATCH me? But look on the bright side... Naminé will erase the memory of me knocking you flat along with everything else. She'll implant the loveliest little memories you could ever hope for. So what if they're lies?

Riku Replica: No...

Riku Replica: NOOO!!!

Basement Six[]

(Upon entering the fifth basement floor.)
Larxene: Why so glum, Naminé? Is something on your mind?

Naminé: (...)

Larxene: Feeling bad about tinkering with Sora's memory? Or maybe you—

Riku Replica: Knock it off, Larxene. Naminé wants to forget about Sora.

Larxene: You don't say.

Riku Replica: Don't worry, Naminé. I'll make whatever's hurting you go away. I swear it on the good luck charm you gave me.

Naminé: (...)

Riku Replica: I'll be back.

Larxene: (...) Simply amazing. It's like you completely rebuilt his heart... The good luck charm was an especially nice touch. I didn't know you could use memories to transform objects like cards into keepsakes. Just like you changed Kairi's good luck charm. It won't be long before Sora forgets her completely! And then he'll be yours to—

Naminé: He won't forget.

Larxene: (?)

Naminé: No matter how much I change his memory, Sora will never forget Kairi. Memories of me will just make his feelings for Kairi stronger. Because... Because I'm her shadow.

Larxene: (...) So what? There's your incentive not to screw up. Rewrite Sora's heart, and you can be somebody, not just the shadow of somebody. In Sora's heart, you can be real.

Basement Five[]

(Upon entering the fourth basement floor.)
Zexion: Is something troubling you, Lexaeus?

Lexaeus: Vexen is no more.

Zexion: Yes, his scent is gone. It was Axel. You know, it's deplorable... Agents of the Organization striking each other down—

Lexaeus: The bigger problem is Sora. His strength exceeds Vexen's, and yet surely Naminé has subverted him by now. It's only a matter of time before he ends up Marluxia's puppet.

Zexion: So what do you propose? Shall we destroy Sora before Marluxia secures him?

Lexaeus: That won't be necessary. If Marluxia is to hold the light, then we will hold the dark.

Zexion: Riku...

Basement Four entrance[]

Riku: Just one card left. If I get through this, can I finally rid myself of the dark?

(Upon reaching the other side of the basement.)
Riku: (!) That scent... You're another "nobody."

Lexaeus: You've done well to make it this far, Riku. Your reputation is well deserved. But to be scared of the darkness... What a waste.

Riku: I'm...I'm not scared.

Lexaeus: I can see that you are.

Riku: (...)

Lexaeus: You have the potential to control it. Cast away the fear that weakens you. Unbind your heart, and take hold of the darkness within.

Riku: And if I say no?

Lexaeus: Then you end here—light, darkness, and all!

Riku: Urgh!

Lexaeus: See the power of darkness! I, Lexaeus, will not yield to a frail-hearted craven! Now, end your resistance, and let the darkness in!

(After the bossfight.)
Lexaeus: Such... Such power!

Riku: Huff...huff... What's wrong...Lexaeus... Is that all...darkness can do?

Lexaeus: Well... It seems...I am beaten... But the Organization shall triumph! I may perish, but all the darkness within me will billow forth and devour you!

Riku: What the—

Riku: What...what happened? Where am I...

Ansem: I can see... I can see clearly!

Riku: (!) Lexaeus?!

Ansem: Riku... I can see your heart...

Riku: No, it can't be... Darkness this foul could only belong to one person...

Ansem: That's it, remember me... Let me drift into your heart...

Riku: Ansem!

Ansem: Mwa ha ha... You called my name, Riku... You're thinking about me... You're afraid of the darkness I command. Good... The more you think of me, the closer my return draws. And when I awaken...

Riku: (!)

Ansem: Your heart will be mine!

Mickey: Riku, fight! Don't let Ansem take you!

Riku: That voice...

Riku: Your Majesty!

Ansem: Meddlesome king!

Riku: Unnh... The king... protected me? Your Majesty, where are you? Please answer! (...) You're with me...aren't you...

(Upon entering the third basement floor.)
Zexion: First Vexen, and now Lexaeus is gone as well... What's to become of the Organization?

Axel: Larxene's out of the picture, too. Naminé turned on her. Gee, I wonder who's next?

Zexion: Maybe you.

Axel: Me? Naah. I already took my pounding from Sora. He thinks I'm done for good. I don't plan on doing a repeat performance anytime soon. No, I think Marluxia's next in line to go.

Zexion: You think Sora will win. Because anyone who beats you is unbeatable—is that it?

Axel: That's the idea. Marluxia plotted to use Sora against the Organization... ...so it's fitting Sora should be his downfall.

Zexion: Then...we won't be needing Riku anymore.

Axel: Good luck disposing of him. You want to take on someone who wasted Lexaeus?

Zexion: That's not how I do things. Tell me, did you get the data on Riku's home?

Basement Three entrance[]

Riku: Huh? The air has changed... One of the scents has died—a really strong one. (!)

Zexion: That was Marluxia, keeper of this castle. Ex-keeper, I should say. The Keyblade master just finished him off.

Riku: Keyblade master... You mean Sora! Sora is here?!

Zexion: Would you like to see him? Or should I say, can you face him?

Riku: What does THAT mean?

Zexion: Darkness and Ansem's shadow nest within your heart. Aren't you ashamed to face Sora in that state?

Riku: What—

Zexion: Sora's fate is to battle the darkness. As the hero of light, he must oppose hosts of the dark—in other words, you. If you don't believe me... ...then you had better see the truth for yourself.

Riku: This card! This is our—

Zexion: Yes, your home.

On-screen: Obtained a world card.

Third Basement, Destiny Islands[]

Riku: (...) I never thought I'd miss the island winds so much... Funny—there was a time I couldn't wait to get off this rock. And now I'm acting all relieved. Is that...?

Riku: Hey! (?) What's with you guys? I don't think I've EVER seen the three of you so quiet. What, is there something on my face?

Selphie, Wakka, & Tidus: (?)

Riku: (!) Guys?!

On-screen: Obtained Key of Beginnings..

Key of Beginnings room[]

Riku: (!) Kairi... (...) Hey, Kairi. Don't tell me you—

Riku: Ah... No, no, NO!

Zexion: Surely you knew this would happen.

Riku: Why would I know that?!

Zexion: You've been to a number of worlds in your memory before this one. And in those worlds, you met only dark beings. That's all that's left in your heart: dark memories. Your memories of home are gone—each and every one.

Riku: That's a lie! I remember everyone from the islands! Tidus and Selphie and Wakka...Kairi and Sora, too! They're my...my... They're my friends...

Zexion: And who threw away those friends? Maybe it's your own actions that you forgot. You destroyed your home!

Riku: This is...that night!

Zexion: The islands you grew up on were sundered, scattered... Many hearts were lost to the darkness. Because of what YOU did!

Riku: N-No...

Zexion: You hated being an islander, cut off from other worlds. So you opened the door to darkness and destroyed the islands. YOU did that! And now you belong to the darkness. Look at what you are!

Riku: This...this can't be ME?!

(After the bossfight.)
Riku: (!) Sora?!

Riku: Stop it, Sora! Don't you recognize me?

Sora (Zexion): Yeah, I recognize you. I can see exactly what you've become!

Riku: Gaah!

Sora (Zexion): Look at you, shrinking away from the light... You're not Riku anymore... You're just a pawn of the darkness. So be it. It's time for you to face the light!

Riku: I'm...fading... Consumed by the light...

Kairi (Naminé): You won't fade.

Kairi (Naminé): You can't fade. No power can defeat you—not the light, not the dark. So don't run from the light—and don't fear the darkness. Both will make you stronger.

Riku: Darkness, too?

Kairi (Naminé): Especially darkness. Because that power is yours alone. The darkness in your heart is vast and deep... ...but if you can stare into it unflinching, you'll never know fear again.

Riku: All this time I've been pushing the darkness away...

Kairi (Naminé): Just be brave. Know that the darkness is there and don't give in. Do that, and you'll gain strength unlike any other. You'll be able to escape the deepest darkness—

Riku: —and I'll be able to see through the brightest light...

Kairi (Naminé): Follow the darkness, Riku. It'll show you the way to the friends you miss.

Riku: But can I face them...

Kairi (Naminé): You don't want to?

Riku: You know I do. And I will! The darkness—MY darkness—will show me the way! Darkness, awaken!

Sora (Zexion): Im...Impossible!

Zexion: How did you find me in the light!

Riku: You reek of the dark. Even the light can't block out the smell. I followed the darkness right to you.

Zexion: Heh... After all your protests you're still just another darkling.

Riku: I know who I am.

Zexion: Since when? You were terrified of the dark before—

Riku: I'm not now!

Zexion: Ngaah... Hypocrite!

Riku: He got away.

(Upon entering the second basement floor.)
Zexion: What, what IS he?! No one's ever worn the darkness the way he does. It's NOT POSSIBLE! (!) Waaah! Riku?!

Riku Replica: (...)

Zexion: Oh...Oh, yes, of course. Vexen's replica. Good thinking. We can use this Riku to defeat the real one. Axel?

Axel: Say, Riku. It must be hard now that you know you're not real.

Riku Replica: (...)

Axel: I bet you'd LIKE to be real.

Riku Replica: Yeah.

Axel: Well, you can. All you need is strength that the real Riku doesn't have. Get that, and you can be a new person, your OWN person. Not Riku, not anybody else. You won't be someone else's copy. You'll be you.

Zexion: Axel! What are you telling him?!

Axel: You know, I bet he's as good a place to start as any.

Zexion: (!) Have you lost your mind?!

Axel: Sorry, Zexy. Saving you doesn't seem half as entertaining as observing Sora and Riku.

Zexion: No...STOP!!!

Basement Two entrance[]

Ansem: Riku... Riku...

Riku: Who's there? (!) Of course, that voice!

Ansem: I know you can feel it, Riku—the grip I have on your heart. You've let the darkness in. And all-consuming darkness is what your heart shall become!

Riku: I'm not like that anymore!

Ansem: I think you are.

Riku: (!) I...I can't move!

Ansem: The deeper the darkness runs in you, the stronger I become. Controlling your body is an effortless task.

Ansem: Graah... You, interfering again!

Mickey: Golly, I'm glad I made it in time! That should keep Ansem tied up for a while.

Riku: (!)

Mickey: Sorry I couldn't come sooner, Riku.

Riku: (...) Your Majesty, it's you!

Mickey: You betcha! (?) Huh... Hey!! Cut it out, that tickles!

Riku: Ha ha, this time you're real. No illusions. I'm so glad you came!

Mickey: I promised, didn't I?

Mickey: (!)

Riku: Don't worry, I'm okay. Just really relieved, that's all. I've been alone so long that having someone else around is a little...overwhelming. But how did you get here, Your Majesty? I thought you were really far away.

Mickey: This card showed me the way. I was lookin' for the way out of the realm of darkness, and then this card came along. As soon as I picked it up, it showed me your heart, waaay out beyond the darkness. And that's how I tracked you down. I guess the card thought it belonged with you.

Riku: Maybe you're right.

On-screen: Obtained a world card.

(Upon talking to Mickey.)
Mickey: The power of light should keep Ansem locked up for a while.

Basement Two, Twilight Town[]

Riku: (!) Where am I now? I don't remember this place. Your Majesty, do you know where we are? Your Majesty?

Ansem (DiZ): His Majesty is not here.

Riku: (!)

Ansem (DiZ): You must battle me and the darkness alone!

Riku: (...)

Ansem (DiZ): Giving up already? Then accept your fate, and accept Ansem as your master!

Riku: You're not Ansem.

Ansem (DiZ): (!)

Riku: Your scent—it's different. The Ansem in my heart smells darker, more foul. But not you. It's not darkness I smell, it's... something else. I know. You're the one who guided me when this all started. You pretended to be Ansem and gave me the card, to make me face the darkness.

Ansem (DiZ): (...) Correct.

Ansem: Call me DiZ—it's as good a name as any. I've been watching you all along.

Riku: Who are you really? What do you want from me?

DiZ: I want you to choose.

Riku: Choose?

DiZ: You are special. You exist between light and dark. You stand in the twilight.

Riku: (...)

DiZ: I want you to meet Naminé, then choose.

Riku: Naminé? Who's that?

DiZ: You'll just have to meet her and find out.

Riku: Hey, wait a sec!

On-screen: Obtained Key of Beginnings.

Key of Beginnings room[]

Riku: Maybe Naminé is in here...

Riku Replica: Hold it, Real Thing.

Riku: (!)

Riku Replica: Well, well. You've changed. Last time we met you were afraid of the darkness, but not anymore.

Riku: How can you tell?

Riku Replica: Because I'm you.

Riku: No, I'M me.

Riku Replica: (...) "I'm me," he says. It must be nice, being real. A fake like me could never get away with saying that. That's right, I'm a phony! The way I look, the way I feel, everything!

Riku: (!)

Riku Replica: I thought by finding some new strength I could be someone, someone who's not you! But nothing changes... I'm still just empty! Everything about me is borrowed. As long as you're around, I'll never be anything better than a shadow!

(After the bossfight.)
Riku Replica: So...this is the end.

Riku: (...)

Riku Replica: Figures. But I'm not afraid. Good riddance to an artificial life. I never had a real heart. Even what I'm feeling now is probably fake.

Riku: What are you feeling?

Riku Replica: (...) What happens when someone who's not real dies? Where will my heart go? That is, if it doesn't disappear completely...

Riku: It'll go somewhere. Probably the same place my heart will go.

Riku Replica: Heh... How original. Oh, well.

On-screen: Obtained Key of Guidance.

Key of Guidance room[]

Riku: You're Naminé?

Naminé: Yes.

Riku: (!) So...that was you.

Naminé: Huh?

Riku: Nothing, never mind.

Naminé: Please...come this way.

Riku: (!) Hey! It's Sora! What did you do to him?

Naminé: Nothing, he's just sleeping. He has to, to get his memory back.

Riku: Tell me what happened.

Riku: I see... Sora chose to forget about this castle and get back his old memories.

Naminé: You have a decision to make, too.

Riku: Why? No one's been messing with my memories.

Naminé: It's not about your memories.

Riku: (...)

Naminé: It's about your darkness. In your heart is darkness, and in that darkness is Ansem. Right now, he's at bay... ...but eventually he'll awaken, and he'll conquer you when he does.

Riku: (...)

Naminé: Before that happens, let me lock your heart tight. I can make it so Ansem never escapes.

Riku: And what happens to me if I let you do that? Will I forget everything, like Sora?

Naminé: (...)

Riku: I will, won't I...

Naminé: The darkness in your heart will be sealed along with your memory. You'll stop remembering the darkness. You can go back to the way you used to be. It's your choice, Riku. So...choose.

Riku: (...) Sora looks like he hasn't got a care in the world. Will I sleep that well?

Naminé: Yes.

Riku: (...) Sora always did as he pleased. It doesn't matter what we were doing—he'd still go off and leave me with all the work. Take the raft we were gonna use to leave the islands. That was all me. I've made up my mind. When this slacker wakes up, I'm gonna tell him off good. I told him to take care of Kairi, and here he is taking a nap! But I can't chew him out if I've been sleeping, too.

Naminé: (!)

Riku: Keep your lock. I'd rather just finish Ansem off once and for all.

Naminé: But if the darkness he wields gets the better of you...

Riku: I'll make that darkness show me the way.

Naminé: That's true.

Riku: Why do I get the feeling you knew I'd say that?

Naminé: I didn't know. I hoped. I want you to face the darkness, because you're the one who can.

Riku: So that's why you came to me in the light. As Kairi.

Naminé: You knew?!

Riku: I knew as soon as I met you. Somehow you...smell the same. Look after Sora.

Basement Two exit[]

Mickey: So, you decided not to go to sleep, huh?

Riku: How'd you know that?

Mickey: DiZ told me.

Riku: (!) You know him?

Mickey: I'm not really sure. I can't help feeling that I met him somewhere before...

Riku: Hey, Voice. DiZ. Who are you?

DiZ: Nobody...or anybody. It all depends on whether you choose to believe in me or not.

Riku: Boy, you really like pushing decisions on other people.

DiZ: And you pushed away slumber and chose to face Ansem.

Riku: What, wrong answer?

DiZ: It was your answer. I'm just here to watch.

Riku: "Watch," as in support me, or "watch me get toasted"?

DiZ: You choose. Then you need only believe in your choice. That card will draw the darkness inside you out into this world. Finish your business with Ansem.

Riku: (...) Let's go, Your Majesty.

(Upon talking to Mickey.)
Mickey: Golly, it sure feels like I've met DiZ somewhere before.

Basement One entrance[]

Riku: So this card will draw Ansem out... (...)

Mickey: Don't you worry! Together, we can defeat him!

Riku: I'm glad you said that... ...but I have to face Ansem alone.

Mickey: But...but why!

Riku: There's no point in doing this if I can't do it on my own. But I have a favor to ask. If Ansem wins, he's going to enslave me. If that happens, I want you to destr—

Mickey: Sure, I'll save you, pal!

Riku: Huh? You're not listening. I want you to destroy Ansem and me with—

Mickey: No can do! I already made my choice. No matter what happens, I'm going to be there to help you. I'm not backing down. Unless you don't believe I'll come through for you...

Riku: (...) It's my choice to believe or not. I know you'd never let me down, Your Majesty.

Mickey: Same here. You won't lose—not in a million years.

Riku: Not in a billion years!

(Upon talking to Mickey.)
Mickey: You'd never let the darkness get the best of you. I'm sure of that.

Basement One, Castle Oblivion[]

Riku: Show yourself, Ansem!

Ansem: Ha ha ha... What's the rush? I'll be here... At the heart of darkness... I'll be watching as you plunge into the very darkness you wield.

On-screen: Obtained Key of Beginnings.

Key of Beginnings room[]

Riku: (...) Come on out, Ansem. I can smell you.

Ansem: Oh, I know what you can do. Your skill with darkness has matured. But I do not understand. Why accept darkness and still refuse me? You and I are similar. We both follow where the darkness leads. We exist in the same space—so why deny me? Perhaps some part of your heart still fears the dark?

Riku: Wrong. The truth is... You just really stink.

Ansem: (...) You're a fool to choose a fight with me. You've been conquered by me once before. You should know what sort of power you face.

Riku: Oh, I do. I used all the power you had to give and still lost to Sora. I'm not impressed.

Ansem: Very well. Then sink into the dark abyss!

(After the bossfight.)
Ansem: Insolent brat!

Riku: Ansem! You're finished!

Ansem: Hardly...finished... I gave you...the dark... My shadow...lingers... I will return!

Mickey: I know you wanted to do this alone, but you don't mind a LITTLE help, right? Let's go, Riku.

Mickey: So, Riku...what's next? Are you going home?

Riku: I don't know if I can. It's still there. His scent...it's faint, but not gone. I can't go home until it is. His darkness may still have a hold on me...

Mickey: Your darkness belongs to you. Just like your light.

Riku: (...)

Mickey: Until now, I thought darkness was nothing but bad. But my time with you made me change my mind. You've chosen a road I never thought of. Light and dark, back to back. With you, they mingle in a way no one's ever seen before. I want to see where that road leads. And if it's okay, I want to walk the road with you.

Riku: Wow, Your Majesty, I don't know what to say... Thanks.

Mickey: Oh, you don't have to call me that, heh heh!

Riku: (...) Fair enough, Mickey.

Riku: What are you making me choose now?

DiZ: Will you take the road to light—or the road to darkness?

Riku: Neither. I'm taking the middle road.

DiZ: You mean the twilit road to nightfall?

Riku: No... The road to dawn.

(After the credits.)
On-screen: walking this road, without you, to remake forgotten promises, and meet you at road's end

On-screen: The End
