Need proof that size matters? Wait till one of these juggernauts lays down the hurt with its high-octane attacks. Their shock waves have a lot of range, so be sure to keep your distance. All that extra weight is bound to tucker a Bruiser out. Wait for signs of fatigue, then put the big guy to sleep.

The Bruiser is an Unversed that is found in Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep and Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep Final Mix.

Design

A Bruiser is a large, bottom-heavy creature with predominantly blue skin. Its feet curl up at the toes and its conical arms end in round, silver, mitten-like hands. Its head is spherical and sports two long antennae that hook upward sharply. The Bruiser’s midsection is black with white highlights and is lined by triangular patterns resembling teeth. Its red eyes are set in a happy expression and the Unversed symbol is emblazoned on its belly.

A "bruiser" is a strong, tough person, referring to the Bruiser's large size and strength. The root of the word, "bruise", could refer to this Unversed's black-and-blue coloration.

In Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep Final Mix the Bruiser's alternate coloration is mostly purple.

Strategy

A Bruiser may be large, but it isn't hard to defeat. It has three attacks: smacking players with its hands, charging at players with a glowing belly, jumping and creating an individual shockwave when it hits the floor, or bouncing around creating shockwaves wherever it lands. All attacks except the punch attack can be easily guarded against for a good counterattack. If you are hit by the first punch, then block, you will avoid being hit, but the block will not succeed. Using Command Styles, Shotlocks, or D-Links makes beating them much easier.

Attacks

  • Punch: A one-two punch.
  • Charge: Charges at players with a glowing belly.
  • Shockwave: Jumps, then lands to create a large damaging shockwave.
  • Bounce: Bounces around, creating shockwaves wherever it lands.
