The Beast is possessed by his anger and paranoia, created by Xaldin. With Cogsworth's help, snap Beast out of it with the reaction command "Get Up!"

Strategy

The Beast will usually only attack with slashes and biting, doing moderate damage to the player, similar to his basic fighting style in the first game. However, Beast can also use a powerfull roar attack, and will ocaisonally send Cogsworth out of commision by telling him to "Leave, NOW!!!", but this is only a temporary setback. Nearly all of the duration of the fight, the Triangle button would show up (the Reaction Command Wake Up). Supposedly it would do more damage then attacking with the Keyblade, however, it is faster to fight him regularly. The Reaction Command does stun the Beast for a short period so you can attack him without being attacked.

Continue to fight him until his health bar is empty. When it is, he will bend down on one knee. The action "Charge" will show up. Tap the Triangle button repeatedly to send light into him. After many charges, red smoke would appear and the battle will end, though it is possible to defeat him in one charge.
